Pokémon: A Trainer Who Masters the Six Powers from the Start

Chapter 28: Chapter 28: A Frenzy of Battles

After its evolution, Persian's fur turned a creamy white, save for a ring of black fur encircling its ears. The coin atop its head had transformed into a brilliant red gem.

Its sleek limbs, piercing eyes, and the three prominent whiskers on either side of its face gave Persian the commanding presence of a majestic lion.

As it strode leisurely toward Ron, the sharp aura emanating from Persian gradually subsided.

In the Pokémon world, it's not uncommon for certain species—especially those with dragon bloodlines or feline traits like Persian—to grow distant from their trainers post-evolution.

But at this moment, there wasn't a trace of arrogance in Persian's demeanor.

Reaching Ron, Persian lowered its head without hesitation, a clear gesture of submission and loyalty.

"Congratulations, Persian. But this isn't our destination—it's merely the starting point of our journey to become stronger!" Ron encouraged, gently stroking Persian's head.

Persian nodded firmly, basking in the affection like a contented kitten, shedding all signs of its earlier majesty.

After leaving the Victreebel's territory, Ron began training Persian to master the full version of Soru (Shave).

As Ron had anticipated, Persian's evolution significantly improved its physical abilities, bringing it to the threshold required to learn the Six Powers technique.

Yet mastering Soru wasn't guaranteed. Even in the world of pirates, not everyone who met the physical requirements could master all Six Powers. Talent and physique both played critical roles.

For Pokémon, however, every level-up or evolution represented not only physical enhancement but also untapped potential.

To accelerate the growth of Persian and Machoke, Ron led his team into a zone inhabited by elite-tier Pokémon.

Guided by Nidoking, Ron quickly located a Scyther—a Pokémon whose strength was slightly inferior to Nidoking's.

At Level 31, Scyther was a glass cannon, boasting high attack but low defenses. While it could easily be overpowered by Nidoking, it was a perfect opponent for Machoke.

Standing by Ron's side, Persian's eyes gleamed with battle intent but refrained from acting. Having just evolved, it needed time to acclimate to its newfound strength and body.

"Machoke, go! Soru and Karate Chop!"

Scyther, already wary of Machoke's combat spirit, tensed as the battle began. However, Machoke's sudden burst of speed caught it off guard. Scyther immediately used Double Team to create decoys and confuse its opponent.

But Machoke's speed outmatched Scyther's reaction time. The clones barely materialized before Machoke had already destroyed most of them, sending Scyther flying with a single strike.

"Machoke! Glare, then follow up with Soru and Close Combat!"

As Scyther scrambled to its feet, Machoke's Glare froze it momentarily. In that brief window, Machoke launched a devastating Close Combat assault, sending Scyther crashing to the ground once again.

Scyther's nimbleness allowed it to recover quickly, but its attempt to avoid Machoke's Glare failed to account for Machoke's relentless pursuit.

A Vacuum Wave forced Machoke into view, prompting Scyther to counter with X-Scissor. Machoke dodged skillfully, countering with a Low Kick that sent Scyther sprawling.

"Machoke, dodge! Glare! Follow up with Soru and Close Combat!" Ron commanded as Scyther retaliated despite its injuries. Machoke avoided the attack and executed the combo seamlessly, exploiting Scyther's lowered defenses from repeated Close Combat hits.

Weakened and battered, Scyther attempted one final X-Scissor, leaving a deep gash on Machoke's arm before collapsing in defeat. Despite the injury, Machoke stood victorious, its strength now at Level 29—closer to the elite threshold.

Thanks to Ron's Fighting Aura (Dō no Chikara), Machoke's wound healed rapidly. After treating Scyther, Ron pressed onward, searching for more elite-tier Pokémon to challenge.

Unlike the steady approach of most trainers, who preferred pitting their Pokémon against similarly-leveled opponents, Ron sought out stronger foes.

Machoke, now mastering Soru to maintain an edge in battle, dominated Pokémon at around Level 31. Using Glare in tandem with its newfound speed, Machoke controlled the flow of every encounter.

Defensive Pokémon managed to withstand Machoke's assaults longer, but frailer ones were swiftly overwhelmed, succumbing to Machoke's powerful strikes after a single Glare.

Ron's relentless approach drove Machoke into a frenzy of battles, forcing it to grow rapidly. Without Ron's Fighting Aura aiding its recovery, the sheer intensity of these fights would have pushed Machoke's body to its limit.

By evening, back at Nidoking's territory, Ron recounted Machoke's accomplishments. Realizing the gap between their abilities, Nidoking abandoned the idea of another sparring match, unwilling to risk humiliation in front of Nidoran.

At dawn, before the elite-tier Pokémon awakened, Ron and Machoke were already on the move. A new round of intense battles awaited them.
