Pokémon: A Trainer Who Masters the Six Powers from the Start

Chapter 15: Chapter 15: Meeting Another Trial Participant

In the early morning, while most wild Pokémon were still deep in their sleep, Ron and his group had already begun training.

The scarcity of training equipment didn't matter—Ron decided to make do with what he had.

He found some tough vines, wrapped them tightly around a large rock, and selected stones of varying weights based on the area's safety. Then, they started running around the area that had been previously surveyed for safety.

Compared to the massive rock behind Machop, the stones behind Meowth and Ron were certainly much smaller.

Nevertheless, they were enough of a challenge for Ron, an ordinary person, and Meowth, who wasn't particularly skilled in physical strength.

Especially with the soft soil in the forest, the stones constantly kicked up dirt as they ran, causing the dirt to accumulate in front of the stones and gradually form mounds that acted as obstacles.

As they progressed, the burden of the stones behind them grew heavier, particularly as their stamina waned, making the running even more difficult.

But neither Machop nor Meowth nor Ron uttered a complaint. They simply kept pushing forward.

For them, once they set a goal, they would push through to the end, no matter how difficult. They didn't let the hardships of the process deter them.

By the final stretch, Ron was nearly using all fours, sweat pouring down his arms and clothes, dripping to the ground in torrents.

Seeing the last few meters, Ron let out a fierce roar and made a final burst of energy to overcome the last few obstacles.

At the finish line, Machop expertly caught Ron's falling body, its movements so practiced that it was almost painful to watch.

With a firm grip on Machop and Meowth's hands, Ron activated his training ability, the Fighting Aura, to rapidly recover their stamina and repair any muscle damage.

The muscle soreness immediately dissipated, replaced by the soothing feeling of warm water as if they were relaxing in a hot spring. The comfort was so intense that it made Ron involuntarily sigh in relief.

Despite the grueling nature of the "devilish training," Ron was quite satisfied.

Although the process was painful, it had greatly helped with his mastery of the Soru technique and would assist him with mastering Geppo and Tekkai in the future.

Once his body felt rejuvenated, Ron waved for Machop and Meowth to follow him. They then ran back to their temporary shelter, carrying the stones on their backs. Only then did they complete the full training.

Back at their shelter, Ron began preparing breakfast. Ten days had passed since they defeated the Beedrill leader.

During these days, most of Machop's time had been dedicated to training, striving to master Soru perfectly.

Meowth, on the other hand, had begun its own battle journey, continuously fighting wild Pokémon. Unconsciously, it had reached level 20 and learned Scratch and Screech.

Machop's battle count was lower, but it still leveled up to 23, learning Revenge and Fling.

In almost a month, Ron had grown from a novice trainer to this point, and the results were significant.

Now, Ron felt it was time to continue exploring. With the rate at which Machop and Meowth were leveling up, he was confident that they could break through to level 30 before the trial ended.

However, he wasn't as optimistic about their progress with the Six Powers. As long as Machop and Meowth could master Soru by the end, Ron would be satisfied.

Learning the Six Powers was undoubtedly more difficult than leveling up, especially since they needed to maintain physical conditioning to keep up with the training.

After gathering the rations they'd accumulated, Ron led Machop and Meowth deeper into the forest.

Watching their retreating figures, the nearby wild Pokémon breathed a sigh of relief, feeling lighter.

Their previously leisurely days—waking up and sleeping whenever they wished, eating whenever they liked, and battling when their energy overflowed—had all been interrupted since Ron and his group arrived.

Now that Ron and his team were finally leaving, those carefree days were about to return.

If it weren't for the fear of being dragged into a battle, these wild Pokémon might have even thrown a farewell party for them.

Ignoring the wild Pokémon's antics, Ron's goals were clear: continue sweeping through the area, focus on leveling up, and prepare for encounters with other trial participants.

In the beginning, the wide area made it difficult for the trial participants to encounter one another. However, as the trial progressed, any remaining trial participants would head deeper into the forest in search of strength, increasing the likelihood of crossovers.

If the first part of the trial was about survival and getting stronger, then the second half would inevitably turn into a battle for survival, where any two trial participants meeting would likely result in a fight.

With only 100 spots available, when two trial participants met, they would undoubtedly clash.

Under the threat of death, alliances between trial participants were rare. No one would risk their life on a gamble.

Deep in the dense forest, the silence was occasionally broken by the calls of birds and insects.

Stepping on the accumulated fallen leaves, Gloom leisurely wandered through its territory, unaware that it had wandered into danger.

In the next moment, a long-honed survival instinct kicked in, alerting Gloom to the incoming danger.

Before Gloom could react, a gray blur slammed into it, sending it flying.

The impact against the tree trunk left Gloom writhing in pain, unable to move, slowly sliding down the bark.

Ron had always agreed with the words of Borsalino (the lazy admiral) in One Piece—speed is power.

Just like now, even though Machop used a surprise attack, a single strike was enough to incapacitate a level 22 Gloom.

Tossing a Pokéball, Ron easily captured the fainted Gloom.

The reason Ron caught this particular Gloom wasn't because he saw great potential in it, but because he intended to use it to save time in the future.

Before Ron could release Gloom to heal, Meowth, who had been on watch, noticed something amiss.

Without hesitation, Machop returned to its previous hiding spot, and Ron left the battle traces untouched.

Hiding among the treetops, Ron quickly observed the movements in the nearby bushes.

"It's clear now, Nidorino, Koffing, it looks like the fighters from earlier have already left."

After closely inspecting the remnants of the battle in the bushes, Chōnō, accompanied by Nidorino and Koffing, stepped out.

Unlike the previous trial participant Carson, Chōnō was not only stronger but also had a better understanding of the terrain and how to hide his presence.

Had Meowth not discovered them early, Ron would have had a much harder time spotting them, and they might have been ambushed with casualties.

However, now that the situation had changed, Ron was not about to let Chōnō leave easily.
