Pokémon: A Trainer Who Masters the Six Powers from the Start

Chapter 10: Chapter 10: The Beedrill’s Rampage

In the depths of the forest, four fearsome Beedrill moved with unusual unease.

Since leaving their nest, a peculiar insect-like instinct had warned them of impending danger.

This feeling was exceptionally rare; the last time it occurred, the culprit had been an Arbok—one that had since become part of their nourishment.

With this lesson etched in their memories, the Beedrill were confident that no other wild Pokémon in the vicinity would dare to provoke them. Yet, this confidence only added to their inner conflict: their instincts screamed danger, but their rationality rejected it.

Thankfully, they wouldn't have to wrestle with their doubts for long. Danger was already here.

In an instant, an invisible force enveloped the four Beedrill.

Each one saw themselves as the new leader of the swarm, victorious over their former queen. They were surrounded by the most exquisite mates and feasting on the sweetest nectar.

These dreams, often figments of their imagination, now felt vivid and real, trapping them in an intoxicating delusion they had no desire to escape from.

Facing the teetering Beedrill, Machop struck decisively.

Enhanced by Focus Energy, it unleashed a series of Close Combat blows, landing critical hits that knocked them unconscious while they were still lost in their dreamscape.

Meowth also contributed, handling two of the Beedrill to lighten Machop's burden. Otherwise, it would have been nearly impossible for Machop to take down all four at once.

This teamwork highlighted why even Pokémon stronger than Beedrill sometimes fell victim to their swarm: numbers mattered. Against attacks coming from all sides, even defending was a challenge, let alone counterattacking.

After swiftly defeating the Beedrill, Ron didn't finish them off. Instead, he left them where they lay.

Whether they were later discovered by other Beedrill—igniting the swarm's wrath—or attacked by other wild Pokémon, Ron stood to benefit from either outcome.

Under normal circumstances, Ron wouldn't have resorted to such a method. But this was a Rocket Trial. In this cruel test, if you didn't become stronger, the only thing waiting for you was death.

Ron wasn't about to gamble his survival on the whims of luck.

Moreover, he sensed that this trial wouldn't be so simple. Surviving the wild didn't guarantee safety later on.

Having dealt with the four Beedrill, Ron set his sights on their nest. His plan was to ambush a foraging team returning to the hive.

At 10 o'clock, two hours had passed since the Beedrill left to gather food. The absence of eight members had alarmed the hive.

Immediately, dozens of Beedrill split into five teams, each led by ten individuals, to begin a search.

From the canopy of a nearby tree, Ron watched the Beedrill mobilize alongside Machop and Meowth.

Normally, no wild Pokémon dared to provoke these Beedrill, let alone lurk near their hive. By exploiting this sense of security, Ron had hidden in plain sight—right under their noses.

So far, his gamble had paid off.

Gazing at the remaining 30 to 40 Beedrill guarding the hive, Ron adjusted his next move.

Despite their aggressiveness, the Beedrill had avoided encroaching on other Pokémon territories during their foraging. This was why the eight Beedrill Ron defeated earlier were quickly retrieved by their swarm.

Though all eight were unconscious, only the ones attacked by Meowth bore serious injuries, with visible claw marks. Wild Pokémon lacked access to effective healing methods, leaving them to rely on honey for treatment.

In contrast, the Beedrill struck by Machop had merely fainted and quickly recovered after receiving honey.

Unfortunately for the hive, neither Meowth nor Machop's victims could provide any useful information. However, their inability to report didn't quell the Beedrill's rage.

Such an audacious attacker deserved a severe lesson.

The entire hive mobilized. As before, they divided into teams to comb their territory, this time focusing on ensuring no intruders remained within their range. Meanwhile, Weedle and Kakuna were pulled closer to the hive for protection, shielding them from opportunistic predators.

Within minutes, the hive was on high alert. This level of coordination was what allowed their numbers to grow to over 100 strong.

For three hours, the Beedrill's exhaustive search persisted. Ron and his companions remained motionless in the canopy during this time.

To become a skilled hunter, patience and composure were indispensable.

When dozens of Beedrill returned empty-handed, the search only intensified.

The hive leader finally emerged, leaving just 20 guards at the nest while taking the rest to expand the search into other Pokémon's territories. With its formidable strength—around Level 20—the leader hoped to uncover the culprits behind the attack.

Unbeknownst to it, the real offender was mere steps away, his gaze fixed on the hive's 20 remaining guards.

With Machop and Meowth, Ron wasn't yet strong enough to challenge all 20 guards directly. But that didn't deter him from targeting this "prize."

Using the tree trunk as cover, Ron's group quietly descended to the forest floor.

A few moments later, one of the outermost Beedrill caught a whiff of a sweet, enticing scent—nectar.

It didn't take long to locate the source: a cluster of vibrant flowers, seemingly inviting it to feast.

Starving after four hours of vigilance, the Beedrill hesitated, torn between hunger and its leader's orders to guard the hive.

Despite its internal struggle, the Beedrill's body betrayed it. Slowly, it edged closer to the flowers.

The other Beedrill didn't notice or simply chose to ignore this subtle disobedience, focusing instead on their own tasks.

Just a few meters from the flowers, the Beedrill finally lost control, lunging toward its prize.

In the next moment, its dream turned into a nightmare.

A gray blur shot out from the underbrush, taking down the Beedrill in seconds and dragging it back into the shadows.

The entire process took mere moments. None of the other Beedrill realized one of their own had vanished.

With their target eliminated, the flowers disappeared, reappearing in another location to lure the next victim.
