Pokemon: A Gym Leader's Rise(SI)

Chapter 84: Chapter 84: Fight for a Parasect

Gladion stepped through the massive entrance gate of the Safari Zone. He was looking forward to complete the mission today itself.

Gladion soon found an official stationed at a weathered wooden kiosk near the Safari Zone's entrance. The official, a middle-aged man wearing a worn cap and a vest greeted him with a mixture of relief and concern.

"Gladion, I presume?" the official asked, extending a calloused hand. "I'm Mr. Hargrove. We've been expecting someone."

"Yeah, that's me," Gladion replied, shaking his hand. "I've come to look into the bug disturbance that's been causing quite a ruckus here."

Mr. Hargrove's eyes grew wider with both anxiety and a hint of exasperation.

"It's rather odd, you see. We've got two distinct groups of Bug Pokémon clashing inside the Safari Zone. On one side, a swarm of Scythers led by two particularly aggressive Scizors. On the other, a group of Pinsirs, all under the command of a dominant Pinsir leader. For days now, they've been fighting—buzzing and clashing with no apparent reason. We've tried calming them down, but nothing works. It's pretty rare for entire Pokemon groups to fight inside the Safari Zone."

Gladion furrowed his brow. "Do you have any idea what might be causing this conflict?"

The official shook his head slowly. "That's precisely why we need you. We want you to investigate the issue, talk to the Pokémon if possible, and—if you can—resolve the conflict peacefully. The safety of the Safari Zone is at stake, and if this disturbance continues, it might even spread to other areas of the Safari Zone. This can lead to a lof of injuries and deaths among Pokemon as well as widespread damage. Not to mention, We might have to close the safari zone for the safety of other people."

Nodding firmly, Gladion replied, "Alright, Mr. Hargrove. I'll get to the bottom of this and try to settle things before they get out of hand." With that, he turned and began making his way deeper into the dense foliage of the Safari Zone.

As Gladion trekked along a narrow, winding path, the sounds of buzzing and the occasional clashing of chitinous bodies grew louder. He paused at the edge of a clearing, where a chaotic scene unfolded before him.

Two groups of Bug Pokémon were engaged in a full-blown brawl. On one side, a swarm of agile Scythers darted around, their metallic scythe-like arms slashing at one another. In the center of their formation, two imposing Scizors stood back-to-back, their pincers clashing with a synchronized fury.

On the opposite side, a cluster of Pinsirs brandished their massive claws, their leader—a particularly robust and determined Pinsir—roaring orders that reverberated through the air.

Realizing that the situation was far from trivial, Gladion stepped forward and, in one swift motion, called out his entire team.

Their presence radiated an unmistakable aura of strength, and even the chaotic bug battle seemed to momentarily pause as if recognizing the authority and power of Gladion's team.

The Scythers and Pinsirs froze mid-brawl, their antennae twitching in unison as they registered the sudden intrusion. A palpable hush fell over the clearing.

Gladion stepped confidently between the two warring factions, raising his voice so that both sides could hear him clearly.

"Enough!" he commanded, his tone firm and resolute. "What is the reason for this brawl? Why are you fighting?"

At first, nothing happened but the soft hum of tension. Then, almost as if in response, a chorus of chittering sounds emerged from the groups. The sounds, however, were not ordinary bug chirps—they carried a distinct cadence, a rhythm that resonated with meaning. Gladion closed his eyes, reaching out with his psychic abilities to translate the enigmatic language of the Pokémon.

Images and emotions flooded his mind as he received the message. Slowly, he began to piece together the story behind the conflict: the leader of the Scizors, his voice brimming with infatuation, and the dominant Pinsir, equally passionate, were both hopelessly smitten with a female Parasect. The love-stricken duo had each laid claim to her, and their pride and jealousy had sparked a war between their respective groups.

Gladion couldn't help but let out a soft chuckle. The absurdity of the situation was almost too much to take. Here he was, a seasoned trainer investigating a dispute among wild Pokémon, and the cause was... a love triangle?

He stepped closer to the front lines, his eyes narrowing as he addressed the feuding Pokémon. "Listen up, bugs! I can see that you're all passionate about this Parasect, but fighting isn't the way to win her over. What is it you really want?"

From the midst of the Scyther group, one of the Scizors stepped forward, its voice crackling with emotion. In a mix of Pokémon language and translated psychic impressions, it declared, [I—I love her! Her spots are the most mesmerizing in the forest, and her laugh—ah, it echoes like the sweetest melody. I cannot let another take her away!]

On the opposing side, the head Pinsir retorted in an equally lovestruck tone, [You fool! I have admired her grace from afar for so long! My claws tremble at the thought of her smile. I will defend my right to her affection, no matter the cost!]

Gladion shook his head, trying to hide his amusement.

'Really? Two bug leaders throwing down over a Parasect?' he thought. The image was so ridiculous that it almost made him forget the seriousness of his mission. Still, he had to mediate this conflict.

"Look," Gladion said firmly, "I know you both care deeply, but this isn't the way to prove your love. Fighting only creates more pain—and a whole lot of noise in the Safari Zone."

Before the feuding groups could respond, Guy stepped forward with a booming voice.

[Listen up, you bug-brains!] he bellowed, his tone both stern and oddly inspiring.

[In the spirit of youth and determination, let your hearts speak instead of your claws! It's time to settle this like true warriors—not by battling, but by finding a common ground.]

Nyx, the ever-moody Umbreon had her eyes glimmering with mischief.

[If you're so desperate for love, then prove it by showing your true feelings rather than resorting to all this clashing and crashing. Your emotions deserve expression, not destruction!]

The bug Pokémon exchanged uncertain looks. The Scizors, their pincers still poised, hesitated. The head Pinsir, usually so formidable, lowered its claws slightly as if considering Nyx's words.

Gladion continued, "Now, why don't you both explain—without any more fighting—what it is that draws you to her? And perhaps, we can find a way for you to resolve this… maturely."

One of the Scizors, its voice wavering with vulnerability, spoke first: [I—I admire her kindness and the way she nurtures the tiny sprouts of the forest. Her body glistens in the sunlight like dewdrops on a petal.]

Then, the head Pinsir responded with equal fervor, [And I cherish her strength and her gentle nature, how she protects the vulnerable bugs of this land. Her presence fills the glade with hope."

The words hung in the air like a delicate truce. Gladion allowed himself a small smile at the poetic declarations.

'Only in the world of Pokémon could a dispute over love turn into such a bizarre, yet touching, spectacle.' He thought

Guy thumped his fists together and declared, [Now that's more like it! In the heat of youth, emotions run wild, but you both must learn to channel that passion constructively. Perhaps a duel of skills or a contest of agility might prove your worth—without ending in a brawl!]

Nyx tilted her head, her eyes softening with a rare tenderness. [Or maybe… you could simply agree to share your affections. After all, love isn't a zero-sum game.]

Gladion's smile stiffened at that. 'Is she suggesting a threesome? I don't.....even want to imagine it.'

The two bug leaders exchanged another glance. The Scizor's antennae drooped slightly, and the head Pinsir shifted uncomfortably, as if considering the idea for the first time. The tension in the clearing eased as the other Pokémon began to murmur in agreement.

Gladion, still amused by the whole situation, clapped his hands together. "There you go! Now, why don't we call it a draw? No more fighting, just a… friendly competition. And maybe you can both have a date with Parasect!"
