"Scatter it with a Flamethrower!"

"Charmander!"

In the smoke, there was only a flash of fire as a blazing flame sprayed into the air, sweeping across in a fan shape.

When the high-temperature flame touched the Toxic powder, it ignited like gunpowder, creating a crackling sound in the air. At the same time, bursts of flames erupted continuously, resembling fireworks lighting up the sky.

"Wow!" The staff and spectators, enthralled by the battle, couldn't help but marvel at the spectacle.

Usually, Pokémon battles were intense and ferocious, but no one expected them to be so mesmerizingly Contest-like.

"Now, Tangela, catch it!"

Charmander's Flamethrower dissolved the Poison Powder, but it also revealed his position. Tangela wasted no time and acted quickly.

Several vines shot out with a sharp whooshing sound, extending toward the fire's direction. The vines caught Charmander within the smoke.

"Very good! Now use Entanglement to pull it over," Erika commanded. Tangela stood its ground, rotating its body.

As Tangela spun, the vines exerted a strong pulling force. Charmander, still shrouded in the dissipating smoke, was dragged out and steadily toward Tangela.

"Your Charmander can't escape now," Erika declared confidently to Ash.

"You think so?" Ash replied, a sly grin forming on his face.

"Charmander, don't resist—go for it!" Ash's voice carried across the field.

"Charmander!"

Charmander relaxed, and the sudden slack caused Tangela to pull him even faster. The lizard Pokémon's body was hauled toward Tangela. Erika's confidence faltered as she realized something was amiss.

"Tangela, let go!" Erika quickly ordered. Tangela, still spinning, began releasing its Vine Whip.

"Too late! Charmander, use Fire Fang!"

Although Erika reacted quickly, Charmander had already been pulled too close. Even as the vines were released, there was no time to evade.

"Tangela, get out of there!" Erika called desperately, but Tangela's spinning momentum slowed its retreat. It couldn't dodge in time.

Charmander leaped forward, his mouth aglow with an intense heat. Flames surrounded his fangs, forming blazing, fiery teeth.

"Charmander!"

With a fiery strike, Charmander bit down.

"Boom!"

The explosion of fire engulfed the battlefield.

The fiery fangs clamped down on Tangela, and the Pokémon froze in place. High-temperature flames spread across its body in an instant, engulfing Tangela in a fiery blaze. Tangela let out a pained growl as it succumbed to the attack.

"Boom!"

An explosion of energy erupted from the force of Charmander's jaws, propelling Tangela backward with immense force. Tangela crashed to the ground heavily, its singed body motionless. Its eyes swirled in a dazed spiral as it lay flat on its back, completely incapacitated.

"Tangela!" Erika called out worriedly, but Tangela remained unresponsive.

"Tangela is unable to battle. Charmander is the winner!" The referee declared, raising her flag to signal the outcome. The spectators around the battlefield erupted into applause and cheers of amazement.

"Bravo!"

Erika retrieved Tangela's Poké Ball. "Come back, Tangela!" she said, her tone gentle and caring. Once the Pokémon was safely returned, she softly added, "Thank you for your effort. Rest well now." Erika's kindness toward her Pokémon was evident in her demeanor.

Meanwhile, outside the field, Misty and Brock arrived, led by one of the staff members.

"Has the battle already started? How's it going?" Misty asked as she and Brock made their way to the stands. She settled into a seat, bag in hand, her eyes fixed on the field.

"It's 1–0! Your little boyfriend won the first round!" teased one of the ladies nearby.

"That's… that's not true! Big sister, don't say such things!" Misty retorted, her face turning red with embarrassment.

Brock, on the other hand, was utterly mesmerized by the number of young women around him, his eyes gleaming with excitement as he basked in their presence.

"Go, Ash!" Misty shouted suddenly, trying to mask her flustered state with enthusiasm. She waved her perfume bag while cheering from the sidelines.

Hearing her voice, Ash turned, smiled, and waved back before refocusing on the battle.

"You're clever, Ash. You used my attack against me," Erika said, her expression more serious now.

Her initial plan had been to pull Charmander close and finish it off with Stun Spore, ensuring victory by immobilizing her opponent. However, Ash's counter strategy had turned her move into a decisive disadvantage.

"Thanks for the compliment," Ash replied calmly. He remained focused and vigilant, knowing the match was far from over.

"It won't be that easy!" Erika declared, pulling out another Poké Ball. "Weepinbell, it's your turn!"

In a flash of light, a new Pokémon appeared on the battlefield. Shaped like a yellow trumpet with green leaves on either side, Weepinbell stood ready. Its round eyes and peculiar mouth gave it a goofy yet slightly sinister appearance, especially considering its more infamous evolved form, Victreebel.

Ash suppressed a chuckle at the sight and quickly refocused. Facing Erika's Weepinbell, he decided to keep Charmander in the fight. Charmander, still full of energy, prepared to take on its next opponent.
