Please Don’t Give Up On Treatment

Chapter 1

Yan Ming comes from a wealthy family and possesses a handsome appearance, attracting suitors that flock from one end of the hospital to the other.

Yu Tian, in her quest to have her name listed alongside Yan Ming’s in the same household register, treats him as if he were a VIP.

Displeased with the hospital’s cafeteria food, Yan Ming insists on home-cooked meals, so Yu Tian takes it upon herself to prepare and deliver meals daily. He once mentioned a trendy cake, prompting Yu Tian to queue at dawn to procure it for him. Though Yan Ming maintains a cold demeanor, ostensibly curious to see how far this scheming woman would go, everything changes when…

When Yu Tian’s widowed mother and Yan Ming’s divorced father fail in their attempts at romantic reconciliation, Yu Tian swiftly packs her belongings and departs.

The lovingly prepared meals cease, the trendy cakes vanish, and even the once-cherished “Brother Yan Ming” is reduced to a mere “Hey.”

【Dramatic Scene 1】

In the hospital, an irate Yan Ming confronts Yu Tian, blocking her path: “Didn’t you want to have your name listed on the same household register? Is it really that easy for you to give up?”

Yu Tian rolls her eyes in exasperation: “My mother and your father have both failed in their attempts at dating. If we’re no longer connected, why should I exert any effort? I endured your difficult nature just to ensure my mother could enjoy a harmonious relationship in her remarriage!”

“I’m not that difficult. You could always try again. Besides, I believe we should indeed be listed on the same household register.”

Yu Tian is befuddled: “To my knowledge, my mother and your father have reached a definitive end to their relationship.”

Yan Ming remains expressionless: “I understand, but there is still a space on my household register that is perfectly suited for you.”

【Dramatic Scene 2】

Previously:

Yu Tian: “Brother Yan Ming! May I have the pleasure of dining with you tonight?”

Yan Ming: “You may not. Please refrain from calling me brother; I have no sister.”

Later:

When Yu Tian is approached at a bar, Yan Ming’s expression darkens and he immediately intervenes.

Yan Ming: “I am her brother.”

Just as Yu Tian prepares to dispute, Yan Ming coolly adds: “Though we share no blood relation, I will fulfill all roles of a brother—holding hands, kissing, and embracing without exception.”

Yu Tian: …

The sweltering heat of summer is articulated vividly through the relentless chorus of cicadas outside.

Yu Tian sits in a café, her left eyelid twitching uncontrollably.

Beneath her feet are ten-centimeter stiletto heels, her face adorned with meticulous makeup, and she wears exquisite jewelry “borrowed” from Qi Sihao’s mother, complemented by a bold and form-fitting outfit that accentuates her curves…

Occasionally, the gentlemen entering and exiting the café cast her fleeting, appreciative glances, affirming her beauty and figure; yet, Yu Tian feels no sense of pride.

Her choice of attire, so markedly different from her usual style, leaves her feeling uncomfortable, and the attention she draws only heightens her unease.

She glances at her watch and turns to Qi Sihao, who sits across from her. “Are you certain Ren Yali will show up?”

Qi Sihao reassures her, unwavering: “Don’t worry; I’ve tagged the location on Weibo. It’s not far from her school; she will definitely arrive within half an hour.”

Still, Yu Tian fidgets with anxiety. “My left eye is twitching; it feels ominous, as if today might not go as planned…”

Qi Sihao dismisses her concern: “It could either be due to your recent lack of sleep, residual effects from your past facial nerve inflammation, or simply an inexplicable muscle spasm.”

He surveys her with heartfelt concern: “As a medical student, how can you be superstitious about your left eye twitching? If it persists, perhaps you should consider Botox; it might help with wrinkles too!”

However, his musings are interrupted as he notices Ren Yali approaching through the glass window of the café.

In an instant, Qi Sihao’s expression transforms into one of wary anticipation. He grabs a spoon, scoops up a melting ice cream, and readies himself to feed Yu Tian, his gaze softening with affection.

Just then, Ren Yali pushes the door open.

With only a few tables occupied in the café, her gaze swiftly lands on Qi Sihao.

Their timing is impeccably synchronized.

As Ren Yali reaches their table, Qi Sihao dramatically shoves an exaggeratedly spoonful of ice cream into Yu Tian’s mouth: “Darling, from now on, we shall share this sweet delight for eternity…”

“…” Yu Tian wonders if she would truly accompany Qi Sihao into the twilight of old age, but surely the Helicobacter pylori might.

Ren Yali, observing the scene, is initially struck with shock, her expression quickly shifting to one of despair and heartbreak. She turns to Qi Sihao, her voice tinged with anguish: “You really have a girlfriend?”

Only then does Qi Sihao affect a look of surprise as if noticing Ren Yali for the first time, and then he smiles, introducing Yu Tian with a flourish: “Indeed, this is my girlfriend, Yu Tian.”

Ren Yali’s incredulity remains apparent as she stares at Yu Tian: “You genuinely prefer her type?”

Accustomed to getting her way, she grapples with a monumental sense of defeat, her jealousy and discomfort spilling forth as she jabs a finger at Yu Tian: “She’s merely pretty! Can good looks fill one’s stomach? Beauty is but a superficial veneer.”

Qi Sihao chuckles shyly: “Yet, one must possess beauty to entice others to discover the intricacies of an interesting soul.”

He winks: “Yali, as you can see, I’m quite the superficial man. I truly am unworthy of you; I do, in fact, have a girlfriend now. I suggest you not waste any more time on me.”

Ren Yali storms out in a huff.

Qi Sihao, however, can hardly contain his joy. He takes a triumphant gulp of nourishing goji berry tea and turns to Yu Tian, raising a fist in salute: “Thank you, my dear! My esteemed companion.”

“Don’t involve me in such matters again; it’s infuriating. Can’t you just find a real girlfriend for yourself?”

Qi Sihao wore a distressed expression. “I wish I could, but the last time I experienced love at first sight, I never had the chance to see that girl again. I’m someone who holds onto feelings; she is the only one who has ever stirred my heart, and I am still waiting for fate to reunite us.”

He then launched into his usual refrain: “That time, I jumped into a foul ditch to save a drowning child. It was so odious that when I climbed back onto the bank, no one was willing to help me up, except for her. Without a moment’s hesitation, she reached out her hand to me…”

Yu Tian harbored grave doubts about the authenticity of his story, but found herself lacking concrete evidence.

She shot him a glance and retorted, “Well, you might as well wait until you’re seventy or eighty and your sperm has become inactive.”

Qi Sihao and Yu Tian had been neighbors since childhood; they had known each other since they wore split-crotch pants. They were in the same class throughout elementary school and even entered the Clinical Medicine program at Rong City Medical University together.

Ren Yali, on the other hand, was a student at the nearby Academy of Arts, studying broadcasting. At a social event, she instantaneously fell for Qi Sihao and exchanged contact information, launching an all-out pursuit.

Despite Qi Sihao having explicitly rejected her several times, Ren Yali, coming from a privileged background and accustomed to getting her way, exhibited a characteristic princess-like stubbornness and could not accept defeat. She relentlessly pursued him for an entire year.

Whenever Qi Sihao posted on social media or revealed his whereabouts, Ren Yali inevitably engineered “chance encounters,” declaring that as long as he remained single, she would not give up. This relentless attention left Qi Sihao utterly exasperated, ultimately leading him to solicit Yu Tian’s assistance in putting an end to Ren Yali’s aspirations once and for all.

Having resolved one of his pressing concerns, Qi Sihao felt elated and couldn’t resist flattering Yu Tian.

However, Yu Tian had no time for his compliments. She was on a tight schedule, having two dates of her own lined up.

The first was her own blind date, and the second was organized by her mother, Ms. Song Chunxiang.

To efficiently manage both engagements within a single morning, Yu Tian took the initiative to arrange the venues for the upcoming dates.

She had booked two small private rooms in the restaurant adjacent to the café for these gatherings. Now, having concluded matters with Qi Sihao, she glanced at the time and prepared to head to her blind date.

Yet, before proceeding, she felt a tinge of anxiety. “Old Qi, do you think this outfit is appropriate?”

Qi Sihao gave her a thumbs-up. “Rest assured. Based on your chat history with that prospective suitor, it’s evident that he seeks a virtuous, homely wife—someone who embodies the qualities of a nurturing partner and adheres to traditional values. He holds rather conservative views, believing that women should not dress provocatively; to him, that’s synonymous with being promiscuous.”

“To deal with a man like that, dressed as you are now, radiating elegance and opulence, it’s clear you do not fit the mold of a homely wife. You’re no rich heiress, and with such a pragmatic and materialistic outlook, he will surely flee!”

“However…” Qi Sihao glanced at Yu Tian, contemplating, “what if he finds your face irresistible and can’t help but stay…”

Yu Tian bit her lip. “In that case, I still have a trump card…”

Qi Sihao paused, taken aback. “You really went ahead and got that certificate?”

“Indeed,” Yu Tian replied, a playful smile gracing her lips. “From now on, I can ride public transportation for free.”

She checked the time, deciding not to linger in conversation with Qi Sihao. Hastily, she grabbed her bag and, albeit awkwardly, stepped into her high heels, making her way to the adjacent restaurant.

Yu Tian was not in the mood for matchmaking; however, she felt obligated, as this suitor was introduced by her aunt.

Ever since her father tragically passed away in a car accident during her high school years, her aunt had been sponsoring a portion of her tuition each year, helping her and her mother navigate those difficult times. Although they had now repaid the loans for her education, Yu Tian would never forget that kindness.

Initially, Yu Tian added him on WeChat with the intention of merely chatting. However, after a few exchanges, she quickly realized that the prospect of a romantic relationship—or even a friendship—with this suitor was utterly futile.

“A wife should stay at home to bear children,” he asserted. “Isn’t it a traditional virtue of our great China that men work outside while women manage the home?”

“I heard you’re not planning to become a doctor anymore. That’s quite fortunate. If you intended to pursue medicine, I wouldn’t dare consider you, as female doctors are far too busy and can hardly take care of a household. This way suits you perfectly; you’ve graduated from medical school, so if there’s ever an ailment in the family, you can tend to it, and it’ll be easier for you to look after the elderly and children…”

The mere recollection of his remarks sent a jolt of frustration through her.

Yet, she still felt obligated to meet him.

A swift resolution was necessary.

She just needed to be rejected.

As she mentally rehearsed her forthcoming words, bolstering her confidence, she made her way to the second-floor private rooms.

But which room was it—203 or 204?

She had booked the room a month prior, and the passage of time had blurred her memory of which was designated for her matchmaking event and which was for her mother.

Fortunately, she had arranged her mother’s meeting to commence half an hour after her own, and it was still early. Her mother and her mother’s suitor would not yet arrive, so even if she mistakenly entered the wrong room, it would likely be empty, and it wouldn’t matter much.

Adopting a spirit of tentative exploration, she pushed open the door to room 203.

Fortune smiled upon her, as she entered the correct private room.

Inside, someone was present.

The figure was focused, engrossed in responding to a message on their phone. Yu Tian didn’t immediately catch a glimpse of his face, but even seated, it was evident that he was quite tall, with broad shoulders. A simple shirt, worn by him, appeared remarkably tailored.

The seating in this room was adjacent to a window, where the lush shadows cast by the fragrant camphor trees outside slipped through the panes, and the filtering sunlight aptly illuminated his features, giving him a deep and intriguing profile.
