Luna sat in the office, deep in thought about the game development report. It was the GDD (Game Design Document) for the follow-up development of "Octopath Traveler," and the draft was almost complete.

She had taken an interest in learning about game design, not just on a whim, but with a real sense of purpose.

In the past, she and John worked together, chasing their dreams, though many of their concerns were centered around making a living. When they were together, John rarely discussed the game itself; instead, they'd chat about interesting things in daily life or company gossip.

But alongside "Binding of Isaac," and later at the Game Awards, where "Seen" won the Best Game Award, Luna gradually developed an interest in gaming creation. Managing the official blog and watching players share their experiences in various community forums only deepened her love for gaming.

Yet, this transformation from an everyday person into a casual gamer was still far from the journey she envisioned.

Creak-!

Her thoughts were interrupted as the office door swung open. A smile crossed her face when she saw John enter, closing the file on her computer as she stood up to greet him.

"How did 'Resident Evil' perform?" Luna asked with interest.

Although she wasn't a fan of horror games, this was a project by their studio, and so it mattered to both her and John.

"Over 3 million sales worldwide, it's a success," John replied with a smile.

"Are you up for the VR experience this weekend?" John asked Luna, smiling. "Didn't you enjoy going out? Moondustries just launched a VR game called Clusterside that showcases beautiful scenery from around the globe, and in VR, we can explore various attractions without having to go out."

He knew how much she loved admiring magnificence. Luna often said her biggest wish was to see the wonders of the world.

She was intrigued but also liked the idea of exploring without going far. Allowing her to browse scenic wonders worldwide, complete with scent-feedback technology, might be wonderful.

Hearing John's suggestion, Luna's eyes brightened, feeling genuinely excited.

Before developing "Resident Evil," weekends had mostly been spent working at the studio, with occasional visits to the local shopping area near home. A weekend outing now seemed like a great idea.

With "Resident Evil" sales surpassing 3 million, interest only grew. As word spread among players and game media, even more fans joined in. Compared to other horror games, the shooting-action elements in "Resident Evil" gave it an edge.

As the second week began, and without any other major releases, "Resident Evil" maintained its spot at the top of the sales chart. Sales even ticked upward in several countries as approvals rolled in.

Leon, Ada, Claire, the Tyrant, and Lickers, fans were abuzz with talk of the "Resident Evil" characters, plot, and Umbrella Corporation, sparking lively discussions. Industry insiders and gamers alike watched "Resident Evil" with great interest.

In a chat group for industry professionals, members were in awe as the announcements confirmed that "Resident Evil" had surpassed 4.5 million sales worldwide.

"No way, that's the sales of a horror game?"

"4.5 million globally? With this hype, it'll easily pass 5 million."

"This is insane."

Everyone in the industry recognized how rare this level of success was for a horror game. Even considering its high production cost, such performance was unprecedented.

On Sunday, John brought Luna to a VR experience hall. The VR experience hall has a spacious 300-square-meter setup, John, Luna, and a few staff members were the only ones present.

"Why is no one else here?" Luna asked, looking at the empty hall with a VR helmet in her hand.

"It's still early, or maybe business isn't great. VR experience stores have pretty stiff competition," John said with a casual shrug.

The staff member, who had just explained how to use the equipment, looked on with a subtle expression, wanting to say something but holding back.

Luna, who rarely visited VR experience stores, accepted John's reasoning. With VR devices activated, and controls in hand, John and Luna found themselves in darkness. Then, slowly, a scene began to appear.

"Is this the Great Wall?" Floating above lush green trees and mountains, the Great Wall stretched out below them.

Seeing this, Luna let out a gasp. Guiding her hand, John directed their remote controls skyward.

"Spectacular, isn't it?" he said with a smile, glancing over at Luna.

Advanced signal acquisition and camera technology projected their real-life selves into the VR experience, making it feel even more lifelike.

Cherry blossoms and Mount Fuji in Japan, the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, Italy's Colosseum, and Venice...

One after another, these famous sites appeared before them.

Finally, as they stood atop the Burj Khalifa looking out, the scene around them began to shift. Suddenly, they found themselves in a familiar city, the streets where they had once spent several years together, and even the faint sound of a school bell echoed in their ears.

"Is this…?" Seeing these familiar surroundings, Luna froze.

"Recognize this place?" John asked, holding her hand as he guided her through the streets of their old neighborhood.

"This…this is our school?" Luna's voice was filled with wonder and surprise.

"Yeah." John smiled.

They strolled past the familiar buildings, walked across the playground, and finally reached a small stream near their old school.

Suddenly, John let go of her hand, reached into his pocket, and pulled out a small box.

Luna, still captivated by the VR scene, only realized he had let go of her hand when she saw him kneeling, holding a box in his hand. And then she heard his voice.

"I know this may seem a little surreal, but I've wanted to do this for so long. Will you marry me?"

She stared at him, lifting her VR helmet with wide eyes, too stunned to respond.

"Will you marry me?" he repeated, with a hopeful smile.

Tears streamed down her face as she took the ring box from his hand and wrapped her arms around his neck.

"Yes-! Of course, I do-!"
