Pirates: I Rely Only on Myself

Chapter 24: Chapter 24: Fierce Battle

Vic's fists were covered in pitch-black Armament Haki as he lunged forward.

His gauntlet clashed with Hook Sword's blade in a loud clang.

Both fighters jumped back immediately, putting distance between them.

Without wasting time, Vic unleashed a series of swift kicks, sending sharp air blades flying toward Hook Sword.

Hook Sword dodged while deflecting the slashes with his Haki-coated blade.

Meanwhile, One-Eye, locked in combat with Joseph, grew increasingly tense as he listened to the battle raging elsewhere.

Several minutes passed with neither side gaining the upper hand.

The stalemate persisted because neither could overwhelm the other. One-Eye and Hook Sword specialized in speed, while Vic and Joseph relied on their strong defense.

One side couldn't break through the defenses, and the other couldn't catch their quicker opponents.

And so, the deadlock continued.

The only way out of this would be if reinforcements arrived.

It was clear, however, that the Noah family had the advantage.

Lilith and Ari, having already defeated Cat Claw Brian, had now arrived above the battlefield.

Spotting his chance, Ari teleported through a wormhole, appearing right behind One-Eye.

"Water Severing Wave!"

In Ari's hand, a tiny wormhole opened, connected to the deep ocean, more than 8,000 meters below. The water pressure there was intense, over 800 times that of the surface.

In an instant, a high-pressure water blade shot toward One-Eye's back.

Joseph, standing in front of One-Eye, sensed the attack and immediately stomped the ground to retreat.

Shave! Joseph moved like lightning, dodging backward in an instant.

One-Eye's Observation Haki warned him of danger. He quickly rolled forward, narrowly avoiding the water blade.

The water blade slashed through the trees behind him, cutting them in half.

Though he dodged the attack, One-Eye's rhythm was thrown off.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Ari fired his revolver, combining his bullets with the deadly water blades to keep One-Eye off balance.

It didn't take long before One-Eye was hit by several bullets. Blood flowed, and his movements became sloppy, his reactions slowing.

Joseph, who had stepped back earlier, picked up a large rock and hurled it at One-Eye.

With attacks coming from both sides, One-Eye found himself in deep trouble.

"No... this can't be—!"

But it wasn't One-Eye who cried out—it was his brother, Hook Sword.

Just moments before, Hook Sword had been struck by one of Lilith's poisoned needles. Distracted by concern for his brother, he hadn't noticed the attack. The poison quickly caused his muscles to spasm, and his heartbeat became erratic.

The disruption broke his concentration, making it impossible to use Observation Haki.

Vic seized the opportunity, smashing Hook Sword's left arm with a powerful punch.

Hook Sword, completely thrown off, couldn't react in time. Another poisoned needle from Lilith struck him, and Vic followed up with a punch that pierced straight through Hook Sword's chest.

Hearing his brother's scream, One-Eye's face twisted in rage. "You monsters! I'll kill every one of you!"

But Ari and the others didn't give him a chance to retaliate. They unleashed a relentless barrage of attacks.

Water blades sliced through the air, bullets roared, poisoned needles struck from the shadows, and huge stones rained down.

Within seconds, One-Eye's body was riddled with bullet holes, and poison spread quickly through his system.

The next moment, a water blade sliced him in half, and a massive stone came crashing down from above, smashing his head.

One-Eye and Hook Sword were dead.

The last officer of the Money Pirates was now running for his life. Though small in size, he was fast, darting through the forest and dodging trees with ease.

However, he had no idea that someone was already watching him.

As the battles elsewhere came to an end, Jay, who had been waiting for the right moment, finally made his move.

In an instant, countless black threads emerged from the forest.

The graphene wires, which had been hidden among the trees, came to life, surrounding the fleeing dwarf.

"What the hell?!"

Bang! Bang! Bang! The dwarf fired his gun, but the bullets had no effect. Realizing he was out of options, he threw up his hands in surrender. "I give up! Don't kill me! I know where Barton's treasure is hidden!"

Jay remained hidden, silently controlling the graphene wires, which quickly wrapped the dwarf up like a cocoon.

With that, the last remaining officer of the Money Pirates was captured.

Back in the center of the island...

Barton, still using Moonwalk to stay airborne, looked around at the black fog and the seawater swirling below.

He quickly realized that his opponents had chosen the perfect spot. The center of the island was a lowland, meaning the seawater wouldn't drain away quickly.

'I need to get to higher ground, or I'll get caught in the water.'

He kicked off the air again, heading toward the hillside where Noah had been standing.

Noah raised his hand and clenched his fist.

The bomb card Noah had placed under the hillside exploded.

Just as Barton landed on the slope, his Observation Haki screamed a warning.

'Damn it, I'm too late! Life Exchange—Black Armor!'

In an instant, the hillside erupted like a volcano.

Barton's life force drained rapidly as his Armament Haki, black as ink, surged to protect him.

When the smoke cleared, Barton stood unharmed.

"Die!" Barton roared, his fists coated in a terrifying amount of Armament Haki. "Eight-Pulse Fist—Sea-Splitting Punch!"

Noah tossed out another card. Flames erupted from his feet, launching him hundreds of meters into the sky.

As Barton's punch hit the card, it triggered an explosion, releasing thousands of cubic meters of thick seabed mud.

The mud, acting like a non-Newtonian fluid, slowed Barton's attack. Enraged, he smashed through the mud with brute force.

He tried to use Moonwalk again to chase Noah, but the mud splattered onto his body. Suddenly, his muscles began to weaken. 'Something's wrong with this mud!'

There was too much mud around him, and his strength kept fading.

The next second, his heart sank further.

A massive wave of seawater came crashing down on him from above.

Boom! The seawater smashed into Barton, completely draining his strength. His Devil Fruit powers were useless now.

"I won't accept this!"

But there was nothing he could do. The loser was the loser, and that was the end of it.

Noah took out a Den Den Mushi. "Jay, activate the capture net."

"Got it, Brother Noah."

The graphene wires in the lowland quickly scooped up Barton, who had been swept into the area by the seawater. To ensure he wasn't faking, Jay followed Noah's orders and kept Barton's lower half submerged in seawater.

Soon, a towering figure made of graphite emerged from the marshy lowlands, standing over ten meters tall. The massive graphite golem was still connected to countless graphene wires.

The golem approached Noah, and its chest opened, revealing Jay inside the cockpit.

"Brother Noah."

"Release Barton from the restraints."

"Understood."

The graphene wires loosened, freeing Barton's body.

Noah pulled out a strange iron device, like an iron lung, and stuffed Barton inside, leaving only his head exposed. The container was filled with seawater.

Then, Noah sealed Barton into a card.

After sealing the captured dwarf in another card, Noah and Jay headed toward the beach to regroup.

On the beach, Anthony had already placed Cat Claw Brian, whom Mary had captured, into a large oak barrel filled with seawater.
