Pirates: I Rely Only on Myself

Chapter 20: Chapter 20: Sixis Island

The sun shone brightly, and the sky was a clear, washed-out blue.

A pitch-black steel ship drifted with the current toward Sixis Island.

After navigating through a swirling zone over twenty kilometers wide, the lush greenery of Sixis Island was finally within reach.

Apart from a few small sandy beaches, the rest of the coastline was dominated by towering cliffs hundreds of meters high, riddled with countless caves.

Besides some strange birds circling overhead, there was nothing else in sight.

The Nautilus chose to dock beside a relatively lower cliff.

Once everyone disembarked, Noah casually sealed away the Nautilus.

"Let's set up camp first," Noah said. "I plan to rest here for a month and also train everyone's abilities."

Uncle Joseph nodded. "Sounds good. After nearly a month on the submarine, I do miss life on land."

Soon, the group found a suitable spot to set up camp. Noah released the stored wooden cabins and living facilities one by one, and even installed some training equipment.

After lunch, they divided into three groups: one stayed behind to watch over the camp, while the other two began a thorough search.

After more than two hours of exploring, they discovered the Flame-Flame Fruit among a pile of debris in a tidal cave by the shore.

They gave the fruit to Lilian; flame abilities were quite fitting for a chef.

Even after finding the Flame-Flame Fruit, they didn't stop. Legends spoke of treasure on the island, and although they weren't sure if it was true, they decided to comb through the entire island just in case.

Due to the labyrinth of interconnected caves inside Sixis Island, it took them three days of continuous searching to explore the whole place.

Their efforts paid off: they amassed treasures worth about 200 million Berries.

These treasures were likely left behind by adventurers or castaways who ended up here.

After all, there were no large edible animals on Sixis Island. The cliffs by the shore were nesting grounds for strange birds, and underground lay colonies of black ants. The only plants were bitter sycamore trees and poisonous yams, and there were no obvious freshwater streams.

Ordinary people, without food and fresh water, wouldn't last a week here. Unable to leave by sailboat, they could only wait for death.

Noah and the others found quite a few diaries in the island's caves. Many of them recorded the despair of those stranded and recounted truly horrific events.

After thoroughly looting the place, they began their training.

Of course, Noah didn't forget about the sunken ships in the waters around Sixies Island. Since they were there, he naturally wouldn't miss the opportunity.

This time, he didn't dive himself, but instead had Vic dive into the sea without a diving suit—carrying only an oxygen tank—to search for treasure.

For areas beyond a certain depth, Jay took over the search.

Jay's method for underwater treasure hunting was straightforward: he used graphite golems connected with special graphene wires, controlling them from the shore.

The multi-layered composite graphene wires could currently support lengths of over ten kilometers without breaking. This allowed Jay to remotely control the graphite golems to conduct treasure-hunting operations on the deep-sea floor.

Over the centuries, numerous ships had sunk around Sixis Island, forming an underwater shipwreck graveyard.

Although the scale of shipwrecks here didn't compare to those in the waters around the Sabaody Archipelago, the sunken ships there had long been looted multiple times by Fish-Men. But the sunken ships around Sixis Island were still untouched.

With the help of the graphene wires, Jay achieved a kind of consciousness projection, attaching himself to one of the graphite golems to observe the underwater situation.

The graphite golems had specially designed searchlights on their heads. They broke into the cabins of the sunken ships, and under Jay's control, over a dozen golems quickly searched through a shipwreck.

His targets were simple: gold and silver treasures, precious swords and knives, Devil Fruits, Log Poses, or other special items.

On the fifth day, they found a Devil Fruit on the seabed northwest of Sixis Island. After Noah's appraisal, it was confirmed to be the Dog-Dog Fruit, Model: Red Fox, a Zoan-type fruit. They temporarily sealed it away.

On the twelfth day, in the depths of an undersea trench south of Sixis Island, they found a stone tablet covered with ancient script.

On the fifteenth day, they found another Devil Fruit. After appraisal, it was confirmed to be the Hole-Hole Fruit, a Paramecia-type fruit, which Ari ate.

This Hole-Hole Fruit had a spatial ability similar to the Door-Door Fruit; besides opening wormholes, it could also be used for rapid excavation.

However, to achieve long-distance teleportation via wormholes, there was a condition: a spatial coordinate had to be set up in advance. Currently, Ari could only establish five coordinate points; any more and he couldn't maintain them.

Additionally, the Hole-Hole Fruit didn't have an alternate dimension like the Door-Door Fruit, which had both advantages and disadvantages.

The advantage was that wormhole teleportation happened in an instant, without needing to travel through an alternate dimension like with the Door-Door Fruit.

The disadvantage was that you needed to ensure the safety of the spatial coordinate points; unlike the Door-Door Fruit, where the user could hide in the nearby alternate dimension to secretly observe the normal world.

The Hole-Hole Fruit was extremely important to the Noah family; this ability could ensure the safety of family members, providing great flexibility for emergency retreats or rapid support.

After finding two Devil Fruits on the seabed around Sixis Island, they didn't find any more in the nearby waters.

When the month's rest was over, Vic and Jay's gains from the seabed around Sixis Island were treasures worth about 3.7 billion Berries, two Devil Fruits, one Great Grade Miao Dao (a type of long saber), and a Skillful Grade alloy warhammer.

They also collected 173 Log Poses, 24 Eternal Poses, one ancient stone tablet, 16 navigation logs, 34 treasure maps, 532 kilograms of blue tungsten ore (a mixture containing tungsten and another unknown rare metal), 22 kilograms of millennium dragon bones, and three pieces of Adam Wood salvaged from the sunken ships.

As for other items like steel, copper materials, and ceramics, Jay and Vic didn't have the space to bring them back.

Actually, this underwater treasure hunt didn't uncover all the shipwrecks in the area; some had been underwater for so long that they were buried under seabed silt and marine life.

However, Noah was already satisfied, and since their planned time was up, he didn't intend to stay on Sixis Island any longer—he just had Ari leave a spatial coordinate on the island.

"This island has natural barriers, and on the surface, it's a godforsaken place, making it very suitable as a secret base or refuge," Noah said. "In case we encounter an enemy we can't defeat, we can bring everyone here to escape."

The Nautilus set sail again, heading directly east. Their destination was Nami's hometown, the Kingdom of Oykot, and along the way, they would pass through five inhabited island nations.
