Chapter 11. Ambition Grows.
As the sun began its slow ascent, the chill in the air started to fade. Yet, Wu’er still nestled close to Cang Ling Ye, almost as if she could feel the currents of his thoughts.
When Cang Ling Ye spoke, Wu’er was initially taken aback. But as she continued to listen in silence, it seemed she began to grasp what was on his mind.
Cang Ling Ye, unsure if Wu’er truly understood him, continued to speak softly to her. He poured out his feelings, unburdening his heart, indifferent to whether she comprehended his words or not.
Seeing Wu ‘er resting on his shoulder brought a comforting warmth to Cang Ling Ye’s heart, making him feel at ease.
“I won’t admit defeat so easily,” he declared. “As long as I’m not killed outright, I’ll keep fighting. As long as there’s still breath in me, I’ll persevere to the very end!”
His eyes sparkled with boundless desire and ambition. Despite his youth, Cang Ling Ye already had a clear, lifelong goal. His gaze was unwavering, marked by determination with no hint of hesitation or fear.
When Wu’er heard Cang Ling Ye’s words, she seemed to understand. She raised her head and looked into Cang Ling Ye’s eyes. Her eyes were filled with seriousness as she stared at Cang Ling Ye.
“Since they gave me the identity of a heavenly dignitary and allowed me to experience the struggles in the palace, I believe that this must have been a test given to me by the heavens.”
“I must let them know that nothing can destroy me. Everything I do will make me stronger. I must let them know that the final winner will be me! ”
Cang Ling Ye’s voice trembled with a mix of emotions—anger, desire, but above all, a fierce determination. He burned with a desire to see those who had wronged him suffer greatly.
“As a descendant of the imperial family, I must fulfill my mission,” he proclaimed. “I will ascend the throne. I will sit in power and wield supreme authority. I want every evildoer to face the punishment they deserve. I want the world to know peace and contentment. From this moment on, no one should suffer needlessly!”
His eyes shone with determination and a hopeful vision for the future. He yearned for peace and prosperity, dreams that fueled his greatest ambition.
“I will succeed,” Cang Ling Ye declared, his voice brimming with emotion. “I want everyone who looks down on me today to see me in a new light in the future! Do you believe me?”
His emotions were running high as he shared his dreams with Wu’er, even if she might not fully understand.
This was his ambition—Cang Ling Ye aimed to ascend the Emperor’s throne and become the supreme ruler of the world.
Wu’er seemed to grasp the essence of what Cang Ling Ye was trying to convey. She lifted her head and gazed at him, her eyes reflecting the same determination. With a serious nod, she silently communicated her understanding.
Seeing Wu’er’s expression, Cang Ling Ye broke into a wide grin. Happiness radiated from his face as he laughed heartily.
They exchanged warm smiles, their eyes speaking volumes about the deep connection they shared.
It felt like a mysterious fate was at play. Though they didn’t speak much, Wu’er and Cang Ling Ye seemed to understand each other’s thoughts, gradually developing a sense of familiarity and closeness.
Determined not to rely on fruit alone, Cang Ling Ye crafted a simple bow from materials he found in the forest. He wanted to hunt for their lunch.
Accustomed to wielding weapons like spears and swords, Cang Ling Ye skillfully fashioned the bow. Before long, a simple yet effective bow took shape in his hands.
Cang Ling Ye demonstrated an archery stance in front of Wu’er, showing off the bow he had made. It felt comfortable in his hands, promising a good chance of securing lunch today.
After finalizing his preparations, he led Wu’er to hide behind a thick bush. This would help them stay concealed from the forest animals and keep their presence hidden.
Cang Ling Ye’s archery skills were exceptional. Despite his youth, his arm strength and accuracy were unmatched, surpassing even the older prince.
However, Cang Ling Ye understood the importance of not drawing too much attention to himself. Life in the palace was treacherous, and given his current situation, he knew it was best not to stand out.
Whenever there was a competition, he would intentionally make mistakes, allowing others to shine instead. He knew that performing well could earn the admiration of the Cang Qian Emperor, but this fleeting approval meant little to him.
Cang Ling Ye preferred to keep a low profile, knowing that discretion was crucial in the cutthroat environment of the palace.
Despite Cang Ling Ye’s best efforts to conceal his talents, he couldn’t evade the covert attacks from those who sought to undermine him. Realizing that his enemies were relentless and unwilling to give him any respite, Cang Ling Ye decided he couldn’t simply wait for his demise.
He resolved to strike back fiercely, making those who lurked in the shadows pay dearly for their treachery.
Just then, a rabbit wandered too close to their hiding spot. With a swift, precise shot, Cang Ling Ye brought it down with a single arrow, showcasing his impressive skill and readiness to face any challenge.
Wu’er, having grown up among wolves, was no stranger to bloodshed. The sight of the rabbit shot by Cang Ling Ye didn’t faze her. Instead, she remained extraordinarily calm.
But Cang Ling Ye wasn’t content with just one rabbit. He continued to crouch in the bush with Wu’er, patiently waiting for more prey to wander into his range.
Cang Ling Ye’s archery was impeccable. In no time, he had captured several animals. Seeing the abundance of prey in his hands, he felt a deep sense of satisfaction.
Not only would this bounty ensure a hearty meal for him and Wu’er, but the extra prey could also be shared with the old and weak wolves who couldn’t hunt for themselves.
This catch should be more than enough to fill their stomachs and provide for those in need.
Wu’er gazed at Cang Ling Ye with adoration, both of them basking in a rare moment of happiness. Since entering each other’s lives, they had found comforting warmth in their companionship.
Their shared hardships had honed their survival skills, making them resourceful and resilient. Without such experiences, they wouldn’t have been able to navigate the difficulties they faced.
Life’s challenges had forced them to become strong, and in each other, they found the strength and warmth they needed to endure.
After sharing some of their catch with the old wolves, Cang Ling Ye and Wu’er set up a fire and began roasting their prey.
Before long, the air was filled with a delicious aroma. They were able to savor a hearty, well-deserved lunch, enjoying every bite to their hearts’ content.
