Chapter 481 - 481: Great Chaos Between Heaven and Earth
Chapter 481: Chapter 481: Great Chaos Between Heaven and Earth
Shi Hao’s body tensed, unable to relax; he thought he had control over his own destiny, unwilling to compromise with the Outer Domain’s Great Sect, believing his fate was in his own hands. But now he realized that in the face of the upper realm’s giants, no matter how prodigious your talents or even if you became the emperor, a single finger was enough to reduce you to ashes.
“I must transcend!” Shi Hao muttered to himself, his tone firm, his voice strong.
The disheveled old man from just before was one thing, but the old crone clearly saw this place as a Medicine Basket, interested only in finding the appropriate “precious medicine,” which is why she hadn’t made a move.
In just that instant, Shi Hao felt a chill throughout his body; his fate was in someone else’s hands. The Stone Country’s sacred forbidden ground, an entire nation’s imperial palace, was actually being looked down upon as if it were just a piece of farmland.
He was overlooked because he had not reached the Venerable Realm, and thus he did not catch the others’ eyes, therefore he was left unharmed.
This reason was somewhat ludicrous; it was because he was not strong enough that he was ignored, and hence he avoided disaster. Whether this was ironic or simply a sad joke, he did not know.
“Damn it!” In the end, Shi Hao let out just these two words. He wasn’t discouraged, for he was still young and had plenty of time to improve himself.
“One day, I will make my way into the higher realms!” Shi Hao exhaled a turbid breath.
In this world, there were occasional streaks of lightning crisscrossing the sky, pressing across the heavens and earth. That was the light of a great calamity, with supreme beings battling, shattering Domain Walls, and looking down upon the wasteland.
“It’s a pity that I can only stay here now, losing even the qualification to be a spectator,” Shi Hao murmured, indulging in self-mockery.
Little Pagoda had left; without anyone to preside over the Ancestral Sacrificial Altar, the mirror was very blurry, making it impossible to capture the distant battle situation and unknown at what stage the battle had reached.
At the edge of the wasteland, the old crone carried a Medicine Basket, dressed in simple clothes as if she were an elderly village woman, but her methods and power were enough to scare people to death.
With a light touch, the Domain Wall shattered, and she stepped through confidently, proceeding into another region.
This day for the wasteland was like the creation of the world; upper realm giants battled, the Tianhe stained with blood, the murderous aura vibrating the past, present, and future, an unprecedented brutality. For the other seven regions, it was a belated calamity.
And it wasn’t just the old crone. Someone else had made a move, harvesting the world’s precious medicines aiming to capture them all in one go. For those at the Venerable level, this was an unimaginable tribulation.
Shi Hao did not see it, but he could imagine it because he had witnessed the changes in the wasteland before.
“Ah… No!” A horned dragon cried out, but it could not escape its fate.
It roared up at the sky, its body emanating a cold blue light, stretching for tens of thousands of feet, attempting to soar to the heavens and enter the Outer Domain. But this was a futile effort.
A rough giant hand reached out, no matter its Divine Skills or countless spells, it could not evade and was caught between two fingers as if it were catching loaches.
“Hey, what luck, it’s a descendant of a True Dragon with no insignificant bloodline. If it were in the upper realms, it wouldn’t be so easy to catch and kill, as the Dragon Valley would take offense.”
Like the elderly village woman she appeared to be, she grinned, looking at the horned dragon between her rough fingers, and nodded: “Take it back and raise it for a while, wait for its Dragon Blood to unify and become Sacred. Then it shall be a greatly nourishing precious medicine.”
In another region, a cultivator walked, his appearance ordinary and his demeanor simple. His skin occasionally shone with a purple-golden luster, his body with six arms, holding a horsetail whisk, and carrying a large gourd on his back.
He was also making a move. With a flick of his finger and a flash of light, mountains crumbled to dust, leaving only one giant mountain, which then split open.
Inside the mountain belly, a silver snake thousands of feet long coiled, sticking out its tongue anxiously and trembling uncontrollably.
“Not bad, on the verge of breaking through to the Venerable Realm, I just need some silver snake gallbladder for the breakthrough,” he said as a beam of purple light sprayed from the large gourd on his back, capturing the silver snake.
Tens of thousands of miles away, at the bottom of a deep pond, a Blue-eyed Golden Beast with shimmering scales, resembling a Qilin, felt something, smashing through the ground layers, trying to flee to the earth’s core.
“The pool in front of the sect’s gate is lacking some spiritual creatures; you’re lucky, getting placed in there is just right,” the cultivator stepped forward, and he was there, his gourd emitting streams of auspicious vapors, collecting the Venerable-level Blue-eyed Golden Beast from underground.
It was not that they were not strong, but that the cultivator and the old woman were simply too terrifying, belonging to the strongest group from the upper realms that opened the skies and earth, known as the immortal giants.
That day, the powerhouses of various regions trembled because they realized that no matter what Divine Skills they used to fight or what Magic Artifacts they wielded in battle, none had the slightest effect.
In front of those Supremes, all struggling seemed pale and laughable, utterly ineffective.
The regions were in chaos; those at the Venerable level who had previously escaped the wasteland all lamented that they were still unable to escape the calamity, suffering the same fate as the creatures of the seven regions.
“What’s wrong with this era? Although there were great calamities in ancient times, they were never as thorough as this. They want to catch all the Sacred Entities, leaving none behind,” someone roared in despair.
In the distance, a colossal light soared, and a Dharma Projection that reached into the heavens filled the void, vast and inscrutable, divine and flawless—that was a Divine Spirit!
But it was in vain, no matter how he roared, wielding Divine Artifacts, unleashing earth-shattering might, and emitting immeasurable Divine Radiance, nothing could be changed. A giant hand reached down and picked him up directly, throwing him into a Magic Artifact.
“False gods dare to shout and scream; take them back for refining into medicine.”
Such dismissive words led the world’s powerhouses to despair. How were they to resist? Even such Sacred Entities were outright captured, and they were even less of a match.
With the calamity upon them, the powerhouses of various regions lived in fear and trepidation. Once towering high above others, they now became like homeless dogs, fleeing for their lives, a stark contrast from before.
Many creatures howled in grief, denouncing the heavens, helpless against such a disaster, powerless to turn the tide.
“That is… a Supreme!” Someone recognized the cultivator and was taken aback.
In the eight regions, some Taoist temples lay in ruins, relics from the endless years before, among which was enshrined that cultivator—such a character actually appeared in the Lower Realm!
This left people speechless with deep fear.
According to legend, he had descended many years ago and gradually became part of history, eroded by the passage of time. Unexpectedly, he reappeared in this era.
In the Profound Domain, in front of Immortal Mountain, an old woman appeared, carrying a Medicine Basket, her smiling face exuded kindness as she muttered to herself, “What a fine medicine field, but this is a place with an owner, the heritage of that person.”
The majestic mountains soared, purple vapors reaching the sky; clearly, this was the place where dragons soared, the ancestral root of all mountains.
“Hmm, taking a few sprigs amidst the chaos shouldn’t be an issue.” The old granny smiled and, lifting her hand, a clear radiance fell and penetrated into Immortal Mountain.
Momentarily after, the place was covered with symbols, the power of the Arrays roared to the sky, surely able to shred a Venerable One or even a Divine Spirit with its ferocious might.
“Who dares to attack, this is Immortal Mountain, the enduring Daoist legacy from the higher realms!” Someone shouted, their voice trembling with fear.
For at that moment, an immense oppressive force enveloped the area, causing everyone’s heart and spirit to tremble, and with turmoil spreading across the eight regions already known throughout the world, it naturally added to people’s unrest.
“Boom!”
Within the sacred grounds of Immortal Mountain, several ancient caves shattered, the reclusive powerhouses inside forcibly extracted, radiating immeasurable light, struggling fiercely, yet still unable to resist.
Despite their Mana reaching the heavens, their sky-piercing roars could not change their fate; they were swept into the old woman’s Medicine Basket. Chilling winds howled, violet vapor surged, the Star River inverted, and a myriad of strange phenomena were displayed.
When everything settled, the upper echelons of Immortal Mountain were pale with rage, several ancestral figures had vanished, and their retreats had crumbled into ruins.
“We must report this to the higher realms. Do they think Immortal Mountain has no protectors?!”
Not just there, other immortal legacies were under attack too.
In the Western Sect, spiritual mountains one after another, here Buddha’s light streamed, illuminating all directions, tranquil and serene. Golden rivers flowed ceaselessly, the fragrance of ancient medicine pervaded the air within the mountains.
Mysterious vapors entwined, Divine Beasts roamed, Five-Colored Deer carried Spirit Grass in their mouths, auspicious birds took flight, Ganoderma covered the earth, and colorful light steamed—it was an immortal pure land.
“Western Sect, such a nice place ah, far better than the dilapidated temple where the old Daoist lives.” The cultivator came to this place, sneered coldly, evidently harboring resentment.
“Shh!”
With a flick of his horsetail whisk, three thousand strands of silver flew out, transforming into a galaxy that entered the chain of spiritual mountains; several great Venerables were wrapped up and tossed into a gourd.
“Who dares violate our pure land?” someone shouted, as Buddha’s light bathed them all, every Array burst into action.
“Hmm, there’s something good in that divine pond, not bad.” The old Daoist murmured, his eyes opening and closing with a purple light that commanded awe.
He reached out with a large hand, thrusting into numerous Divine Spirit Formations, directly into the grandest temple, where Dao energy flowed, unmaking all things, nothing impeding it.
In the main hall there was a divine pond with golden liquid flowing, its scent delightful, and with Buddha’s light swirling, he directly grabbed—a rare treasure throughout the world—a Divine Lotus that emitted endless radiance.
“Stop!” someone shouted.
At the same time, a Divine Statue enshrined within the hall thundered, letting out a vast sound. It manifested an immortal Law Body and said, “Cultivator, you’ve crossed the line!”
“Boom!”
The sound shook heaven and earth, and boundless light burst forth from within the Western Sect.
“My Daoist lineage in the Lower Realm was once very prosperous, but it was schemed against by you and others, and now lies in ruins, unseen. Today, the consequence is due,” the cultivator coldly mocked from within the boundless light.
Behind him, the great gourd rose up, aimed at several spiritual mountains of the Western Sect and ferociously sucked in numerous medicine fields, Sacred Objects, and more.
“The ability of Daoist lineage, where disciples compete, is just a momentary loss and win, why such extremity? Your presence here befits not your status.”
That Divine Statue emitted an even grander sound, radiating fierce light, eventually, a Sixteen-foot Golden Body stepped out and moved forward to confront the cultivator, its might stunning both the ancient and modern times.
“Since I’m here, let’s have a match.” The cultivator spoke.
The Sixteen-foot Golden Body, silent, motioned and a golden arch emerged, extending from their position to beyond the heavens; he gestured an invitation.
With a flash of rosy light, both ascended the arch, proceeding to fight outside the domain. Clearly, a battle of this caliber could destroy heaven and earth, cleave stars; the Sixteen-foot Golden Body did not wish to ruin the pure land below.
In these tumultuous times, where immortal Sect Hierarchs contended for supremacy, Shi Hao stood on a high platform within the imperial palace, silent and awaiting the outcome of the great battle.
He knew this battle would affect the framework of the higher realms and was crucial for the future of the eight regions!
“Everything will come to an end…” Standing for the entire night, dawn broke in the east, a ray of morning light shot forth, and the oppressive atmosphere in the world subsided; he knew the great battle was about to conclude.
