Chapter 22: To Kill or not to kill.
System I have an issue with my fight against my spider form. Why did I have to kill Echidna and Kampe but once I said I wasn't afraid of spider it went up in smoke. Why did I have to kill the two but the other self destructed?
[The Spider was different as you had neither accepted it as a part of you nor did you take on its form before.]
So is that why I didn't have to fight the rivers child?
[Yes host.]
Good to know.
Anyway what happens now?
[Host I think you forgot something.]
What did I forget?
[The pain.]
What PAAAIIINNNN!
[Host the bleed over is still active but it was suppressed during the trial.]
I HATE YOU! I HOPE YOU KNOW THAT!
[Love you too, Host.]
FUCK YOU!
It took a few minutes until the pain left but it eventually did. One it was over I noticed a few worrying new details.
My forms, both Rivers Child and Father Spider had bleed over and transformed my body into something new.
My size had changed a lot. I was now at a comfortable 3 meters enough to duck myself into normal rooms but most definitely an intimidating height.
I was lean with defined muscles, my body was covered in thick hair and my limbs were longer than they should be but only enough to trigger the uncanny valley effect.
But the biggest difference were my hands that had turned into something looking like Gauntlets with long, claw like fingers and my head, as it had been replaced with a long carnivore skull with canine in nature and with long, pointed teeth made to pierce flesh and rip it apart.
The skull extended to my temples where a rams horns. The male form of a sheep. The horns were long and pointy, their tips where at my eyelevel pointing forward stopping about halfway down my maw.
Then, behind the horns, the skull ended and fur, more specifically a thick mane emerged.
To summerise I looked badass and I hadn't even put my armor back on.
Once I attempted to do so, including my war mask, they all remodeled themselves to fit my new hight and body.
Once the transformation was over and I had gotten used to the new viewpoint, the long and thin tail swishing around behind me and the hooves I made my way towards Halloween Town.
I knew who had taken, or rather ordered the children and that specific idiot was one Bogey Man.
I moved towards the town for two reasons. One, I did not think that Jack Skellington would be happy about him having the children. Secondly I did not know where that idiot lived so I had to find myself a guide.
I came closer to the city gate and soon saw a small group of zombies standing near it.
"Hello you three, can you tell me where I would find one Jack Skellington?" I asked. I did not bother with politeness but smoke directly, my new body warping the whispering sound and making it echo around without having a discernable origin.
I noticed that, even though I had spoken my mouth had not moved.
" Hello Stranger, if you have business with Jack we can bring you to him." rasped one of them.
"It would be the best course of action. Very well, please led the way." I answered. This time I had tried to put more strength into my voice but it remained the echoing whisper it had been before.
"Did you hear that?"
"Sounded like we have a new neighbor."
"Don't kid yourself. We haven't had newcomers since thirteen Halloween ago."
I heard some whit he's whisper amongst each other.
"Look! That guy is definitely new!"
One of them had seen me as we, the zombie and I, walked by.
To my luck and happiness they stayed where they were and didn't approach.
Soon we reached a house, it was strange in design and looked like someone had taken a picture and pulled the whole structure up in hight without increasing the length and depth of it.
"We're here young man, I believe Jack will be happy about a new face."
"Thank you kind sir, but I think he will be quite enraged once he hears why I have come."
"That sounds like something the whole village would like to know."
"I will let Mr. Skellington decide."
Our exchange was soon over and I walked up the stairs, knocking on his front door.
"Yes, who is it?" Came a soothing voice from behind the door and I called out.
"Mr. Skellington I have something important to ask of you! Would you allow me inside?"
"That's a new voice, tell me, how did you make it appear in my home? Oh wow, we finally have some new company. Would you like some tea?"
Jack had opened the door by now and asked me to come inside. I declined the tea and began explaining why I was here.
"Mr. Skellington, I am here because someone of this realm has kidnapped or bought children. They were brought here and have been at the persons mercy since. I come to rescue them and maybe, if that is even possible, bring them back to their family."
"And who was that person?" Jack Skellington had asked. Previously he had a warm, even if slightly scary smile on his bony face, but that had disappeared as soon as I had mentioned children.
"No don't bother to tell me. It was Bogey Man wasn't it? Why am I even asking! He is the only one here who would do that!"
"So can you bring me to his house? I came here expecting to fight him for the children. I am not leaving without them."
"Yes I will bring you along. I will also ask the mayor and the others if they want to follow and help in the rescue."
"Thank you Mr. Skellington."
"Call me Jack. I never was one for formality."
"Very well, Jack. Then you can call me Percy."
"Let's go. We have a village gathering and a long walk before us."
As we left the house Jack walked up to another person and whispered something to them. We then continued walking towards the gate.
As we were moving, the sounds of steps, a lot of them, echoed through the village and once we were by the gate we encountered a mobb.
It appeared that every citizen of Halloween Town had gathered, most of them had the obvious intention to follow and help us.
Three small children, or what once we're children appeared from outside and saw us. They came closer to inquire about where we were going but I was not going to allow them to leave and possibly tell Bogey what was coming for him.
I also helped that I knew they had been just as bad as Bogey. They, unlike the rest of the Halloween Monster/Spirits in this realm, had not understood or followed the rather simple rules of Halloween.
We don't bring harm to those that are alive, most definitely not children. When we scare someone it is not with the intention of harm and trauma either but with the intention of fun, to warn them of possible dangers during the winter.
I the entire realm there were only four Monsters/Spirits that brought harm, that were evil purely for the sake of being evil and harming others. And those where Bogey and his little helpers.
While they were still out of hearing range I asked Jack if I was allowed to kill the and later on bogey if I could manage to.
At first he reacted by startling and then starring at me, then he started to consider.
The children had long since passed their physical age. Even if they looked young they might as well be someone's grandparent and neither them or Bogey had ever actually done something morally good or neutral without having to be threatened.
"Mayor, can you help me out? I think I can't realy decide their fate on my own." was what he the asked the mayor.
"All of them have been an annoyance here and they haven't ever done something to help anyone. As far as we are concerned they have never been part of Halloween Town. Actually, do it. Because if you don't, we might."
Jack looked at me. "I don't realy like the idea of doing it to the helpers but I guess that they really are best dealt with toghter."
With that confirmation I allowed Bogeys helpers to come closer.
