Chapter 20: Meeting Ye Qianqian Again
“Brother Lang, do you have a girlfriend?”
After returning to their shared apartment, the two sat on the couch when Zhao Xiaorou suddenly asked Zhou Lang.
“No, I don’t,” Zhou Lang shook his head.
“Then how about I be your girlfriend?”
Zhao Xiaorou blushed as she leaned gently on Zhou Lang’s shoulder.
In this situation, anyone would think she was just a sweet girl, but who would have guessed that when she gets fierce, she’s quite a handful? In the bar, she once smashed a bottle over a man’s head who tried to hit on her.
“Why did you suddenly think of becoming my girlfriend?”
Zhou Lang asked in surprise. He had only known Zhao Xiaorou for a few days. Although he had saved her, the idea of them dating felt a bit sudden to him.
“I want to learn martial arts and cultivation techniques from you,” Zhao Xiaorou said softly, blowing gently into Zhou Lang’s ear.
“And what does that have to do with being my girlfriend?”
Zhou Lang was even more curious.
“If I become your disciple, you probably wouldn’t teach me with full dedication. But if I’m your girlfriend, you’ll take care of me and teach me everything,” Zhao Xiaorou said with a playful smile. Indeed, a woman’s thinking is different from a man’s.
“If you become my girlfriend, you’ll have to stay with me for life. And for someone as outstanding as me, it’s unlikely I’ll have just one woman. Have you thought this through?”
Zhou Lang managed to keep his excitement in check. A beauty like Zhao Xiaorou was hard for anyone to resist, and he was no exception. But he was still a well-educated man and managed to stay calm.
“Well… I haven’t thought it through yet,” Zhao Xiaorou pondered for a moment before saying, “Since I was young, I’ve believed that I shouldn’t share my man with anyone else. But what you said makes some sense, because you’re a cultivator, not an ordinary person. So I’m conflicted and don’t know if I should be your girlfriend.”
“If you’re unsure, then don’t be in such a hurry to seduce me,” Zhou Lang replied.
“I can teach you martial arts wholeheartedly. As for the cultivation techniques, that depends on your talent—whether you can cross that threshold to become a cultivator.”
“Brother Lang, you’re so kind. That day in front of Feiyun Temple, you defeated General Qin’s four subordinates in an instant and forced Master Fang Zhi back with a single punch. It was so cool! From that moment on, you became my idol, and I’ve wanted to become your disciple ever since.”
Zhao Xiaorou was excited and suddenly kissed Zhou Lang on the cheek.
“Ahem… Men and women should maintain a proper distance. You’re playing with fire,” Zhou Lang said with a wry smile.
“You’re half my master and half my big brother; it’s no big deal. Besides, you’re the only man I’ve kissed in my life,” Zhao Xiaorou said shyly before quickly changing the subject.
“It’s still early, Brother Lang. How about you start teaching me martial arts now?”
…
A few minutes later, after changing into sportswear, Zhao Xiaorou began learning the standing meditation posture from Zhou Lang.
“Brother Lang, why is this so tiring?”
Less than half an hour later, Zhao Xiaorou was already struggling.
“Aren’t true martial arts masters supposed to practice some kind of internal energy cultivation? This standing meditation is too hard—let’s skip it.”
“That won’t do,” Zhou Lang replied.
“Your physical fitness is better than most, but it’s far from meeting my standards. You need to improve your physique. Only when you’re strong, healthy, and agile can you start practicing internal energy techniques.”
Just a few days ago, Zhou Lang was a novice in martial arts. But now, he was more formidable than any martial arts grandmaster. The martial arts theories recorded in the Dual Cultivation Manual were deeply ingrained in his mind after he read them. Teaching Zhao Xiaorou was more than manageable for him.
“Of course, I want to become a master,” Zhao Xiaorou said, dismissing her thoughts of giving up. She gritted her teeth and continued the standing meditation. Zhou Lang thought she would give up, but she persisted.
She didn’t go to bed until midnight.
Now that they had rented an apartment with two bedrooms, each had their room.
After returning to his bedroom from the living room, Zhou Lang entered the ancestral copper coin. The spiritual energy inside was far richer than outside. Every time he cultivated in it, he could feel his physical body becoming stronger and his internal energy more abundant.
…
In the following days, Zhou Lang took Zhao Xiaorou jogging in the morning before dawn, and in the evenings, he went to Feiyun Peak’s Feiyun Temple to perform acupuncture for General Qin.
He also called the beautiful boss of the Lovers’ Bar, Li Mengxue, every day. But coincidentally, Li Mengxue had gone out of town these past few days, so he didn’t need to work as a bodyguard, leaving his schedule relatively free.
…
A week later, General Qin’s leg was almost fully healed, and in three days, he would return to the capital for an important meeting.
To thank Zhou Lang for healing his leg, General Qin specially arranged a banquet at the Nanshan State Guesthouse to entertain Zhou Lang and Zhao Xiaorou.
It was a Saturday evening. Zhou Lang and Zhao Xiaorou took a taxi to the Nanshan State Guesthouse.
This place was not ordinary—it was the designated guesthouse for hosting government officials. Although it was open to the public, the prices were exorbitant, and ordinary people wouldn’t usually come here.
Just as they entered the guesthouse, Zhou Lang noticed a familiar figure.
“It’s Ye Qianqian, the woman I was engaged to but who humiliated me!”
Zhou Lang’s eyesight was extraordinary, and he immediately recognized the beautiful woman in hot pants and sunglasses as Ye Qianqian. Of course, this woman was only beautiful on the outside—her heart was ugly.
“Brother Lang, do you like that kind of woman?”
Zhao Xiaorou noticed Zhou Lang’s unusual expression and asked.
“No, I just know her from before.”
Zhou Lang said, not intending to confront Ye Qianqian now to settle old scores. Instead, he took Zhao Xiaorou to the No. 1 private room that General Qin had reserved. After all, he was here for the banquet and didn’t want to cause any trouble.
But sometimes, enemies are bound to cross paths. As Zhou Lang and Zhao Xiaorou took the elevator to the eighth floor, they saw Ye Qianqian standing in the corridor with none other than Nie Yuanxiong, the man who had torn up Zhou Lang’s engagement letter and beaten him up.
If Zhou Lang hadn’t had his fortunate encounter, he might have avoided these two. But today, he only hesitated briefly before walking straight toward them. After all, they were standing in his path to the No. 1 private room, and as a cultivator, he wasn’t about to avoid them.
“Zhou Lang, what are you doing here?”
Nie Yuanxiong, dressed in a suit, had sharp eyes. He spotted Zhou Lang when he was still a dozen meters away.
“What, I’m not allowed to be here? Is this guesthouse owned by your Nie family?”
Zhou Lang replied calmly, surprising Nie Yuanxiong with his lack of fear.
“You must be here to harass Qianqian again,” Nie Yuanxiong said with a fierce expression.
“Get out of here now, or I’ll break your legs!”
“That depends on whether you have the ability to do so,” Zhou Lang replied with a slight smile.
“Looks like you’ve forgotten the pain once the wound healed, huh?”
Nie Yuanxiong sneered and quickly walked toward Zhou Lang. He raised his leg and viciously kicked at Zhou Lang’s abdomen!
