Paladin in Dark Fantasy

chapter 19

Episode 19 .

Immediately after having a conversation with Uriel, Aiden headed straight to the drawbridge of the Holy Kingdom.

I saw Euron waiting at the end of the bridge. He was carrying a huge chest and packing up his luggage, and anyone could see that his legs were shaking.

It was quite a distance, but it was clearly reflected in Aiden’s eyes.

There was also a tall man standing next to Euron, something familiar but hard to remember.

Aiden immediately rode his horse and headed towards them.

He waved at Iden as he approached, pretending to be big and friendly.

“uh! Sir Aiden, here. Here. Long time no see. Oh, isn’t it a long time? hahahaha. Anyway, nice to meet you.”

As soon as Aiden arrived, he shook hands. The memory flashed.

The man who introduced himself as having killed a rooked bird in the North. I forgot his name, but he was a paladin who was badly beaten by Aiden during the installation ceremony.

Aiden got off his horse and took his hand. He smiled and opened his mouth with a serious expression.

“Gyeong-gwa, I sincerely apologize for the rudeness I have committed toward your servants. You are truly a great man. It seems that the seeds here are doing their part now.”

The chest Euron was holding was a box containing Aiden’s armaments. His face swelled up like it was about to explode, but he managed to hold on.

It seemed very difficult to move.

After accepting the box, he collapsed onto the floor.

“…two hours.”

The paladin’s laughter echoed.

“The servant was also a very fundamental friend. Effort is always right Cancer, no way. But Sir Aiden, will you accept my apology?”

“I never had it in my heart. I just want to hear your name again.”

“hahahaha, this is a part where I feel the need to step up. Please remember that this is Tyrun. It’s a name that will stir not only the North, but the entire continent. hahahaha!”

I felt like an idiot but passionate human being. Aiden nodded and opened his mouth.

“Within a few days, we will be able to hear your name. We are heading north now.”

The first ruins where the relic is asleep. The great hero Arhan’s records and Noble Phantasms were buried in the frozen ground.

Tyrun’s eyes widened.

“At a time like this? If it’s true, I want to dry it. It is now outside winter in the North. Since it was the time when the beasts moved south in search of food, all the religious groups withdrew from the private houses nearby. It’s an operation under my control. So I can say for sure. Now the northern part is the most dangerous time.”

In the North, winter comes once every five years. It was a terrible cold, so it was the season for the demi-humans living on the other side of the canyon to evacuate to the south.

Usually around this time of year, the Empire was in a festive mood. ain hunting. It was because once every five years, it was an opportunity to capture those who were forced to move south.

Cost-effective labor force, s*x slaves to satisfy the peculiarity of the castle, specimens for wizards’ experiments, gladiatorial fighters… and so on.

As such, the use of Ain did not cover any field, so people flocked to the North at this time.

However, not this time. The large-scale capture operation has been decided to be cancelled. It was because the forces of the Church, the main axis of hunting Ain, were concentrated in the Vatican.

As usual, Tyrun would have been waiting in the North as well.

Aiden also planned to go to the frozen land and explore the ruins after 5 years.

It seemed that the timing of passing through the Pope’s ordeal and acquiring Elohim Derk would roughly coincide with him.

However, Elohim Derk was already hanging around Aiden’s neck.

There was no need to waste time. To Aiden, it was no exaggeration to say that Sein was a pumpkin that had been rolled over by the vine.

Iden shook his head at Tyrun, who dissuaded him from saying it was dangerous.

“We need at least one paladin as a watcher. If the subhumans don’t stop moving south and cross the empire’s territory, the upper regions will become hell.”

It was a lie. In the first place, there was no way the subhumans would descend below a certain level. At least for now.

There was only one reason why Iden was in a hurry.

This is because the exploration of the site was only possible during the coldest week in the North. It wasn’t long before that time.

Tyrun nodded as if he did not doubt Aiden’s words.

“Awesome. I sincerely want to share my thoughts with you. this person···. Ugh. I’ll just keep quiet.”

Iden was rather grateful to the church. It was obvious that if Tyrun followed, it would be difficult in many ways.

“Sir, you must have something to do here.”

“I will, but I can’t help but regret it. If I hadn’t been promoted like Sir, I would have been a little more free.”

Paladins also had ranks. Aiden had no intention of going up from the terminal for the time being. Freedom was needed.

“Anyway, since you say so, I’ll offer you a little courtesy. Please accept it.”

Tyrun took out a faded red jewel from his bosom.

“It’s high class. If there is someone in the party who can handle magical powers, I will relieve the cold a little.”

It was something that was hard to find. While Iden was with Tegain, among the artifacts Euron purchased was a replica of that jewel.

“I will write well.”

“It was nothing.”

Aiden climbed Petra.

“I will remember the favor.”

“hahahaha, this much is nothing. go faster than that You’ve been holding on to busy people for too long.”

“Then, see you next time.”

Aiden rode his horse and headed north.

*

Three days passed.

Suddenly, the horse’s hooves made a soft sound as they stepped on the ground. The green earth was covered with white, and the cold north wind blew.

“Eh, H!”

Euron sneezed and shaved his fur.

Cold air surrounded Iden and Euron, but it was only the beginning.

“He endured the heat well, but in the cold he loses his pulse.”

“Actually, this is the first time I’ve grown up in the South and seen snow. Now I know why the northerners cause a game in words that express snow beautifully.”

Trembling, Euron took the white fur out of his backpack and handed it to Iden.

“I think you should wear it now too.”

Aiden didn’t really care. In the future, in preparation for what would happen in the north, it was because he invested in cold resistance whenever he had a chance.

“I don’t need it yet, so put it away.”

I didn’t tell Euron to wear it. He too had to adapt to the climate. The northern part is quite kind, and the higher you go up, the colder it gets. I didn’t know if it gave me time to get used to it.

Leaving their hooves in the pure white snow, they continued heading north. Suddenly, a vague shape began to appear in the distance.

“Sir Aiden? do you see it over there? It looks like a house, why is it like that…”

It was a cabin in the middle of a snowy field. The smoke rising from the cave was blown away by the cool breeze.

“If Daryl had trusted me, I would be there.”

There may not be. Even if he ran away, Iden had no intention of pursuing him. The relationship just ended there.

Iden and Euron tied their horses to the fence and knocked on the door.

“Are you inside?”

As soon as Euron finished speaking, the door burst open.

A small old man was standing in front of the door, and unlike his appearance, his eyes were deep. The old man ran Aiden from head to toe.

“Nice to meet you. I am the paladin, Iden.”

“Weird body logo. His achievements are unreasonable for his age. How old are you?”

“I am twenty-two this year.”

The content was different, but the setting was the same.

“Oh, you’re younger than I thought.”

Was Aiden really that bad? I thought. One couldn’t help it. The two years spent changed everything about Aiden. facial expressions and eyes. It wasn’t like that from the beginning.

“The side?”

“It is a seed.”

“Hmm,”

The old man’s gaze was frightening for Euron. It felt like his eyes were massaging his whole body like a hand.

“It will be hard.”

Leaving an incomprehensible word, he gestured inside.

“Come in, both of you.”

The cabin was very warm. The sound of burning firewood was heard, and the scent of phytoncide wafted up.

Sain, who was sitting at the table in the middle, greeted Aiden with a very bright smile.

“Paladin!”

“So what about Daryl?”

“Brother is that—”

In the distance outside the window, I saw Daryl walking.

Wearing only one pair of panties, he was approaching me with a huge boulder on his back.

The old man clicked his tongue.

“Tsk, Kadak ruined the kid. Hey, what do the magicians know?”

As the name of Archmage Kadak came out of the old man’s mouth, Euron looked at Aiden with wide eyes.

“Noinjang is one of the Continental Sword Saints.”

Sword Saint, Gielan Fenrir. He was an old friend of the Archmage Kadak and a protector of the North.

The castle wall that prevented the demi-humans from daring to descend beyond this level. The old man was one of the monsters in the worldview.

“Sword Saint or whatever, it’s all useless. What should I do if I have to be called that way when I am confined to the periphery?”

Aiden shook his head.

“Those who inherit the sword of the old man are famous all over the continent. The Sword Saint is here, but his will continues to grow.”

“Failures. Things that would be a shame to call them imitations are just tarnishing my name.”

Gielan’s personality was the same as the original. The old man looked at Iden suspiciously.

“By the way, why did you send your brother and sister to me?”

Iden looked at Sein, who was distracted by the conversation with Euron.

“It is to save the siblings.”

“Are you a paladin?”

“yes.”

The old man let out a laugh.

“He’s a strange guy in many ways. Listen, you declared that you would wash away the black blood.”

“you’re right. I’ll tell you in advance, even if you ask how, I can’t answer.”

“under! It’s irregular. It makes me want to ask.”

Violation of the ban was death.

“The answer lies in the ruins led by Elohim Derk. More than this cannot be mentioned.”

“The necklace chose you.”

“Probably so.”

“Do you know what is sleeping there?”

“Isn’t it the great hero, Arhan’s Noble Phantasm?”

“That’s a fact that even the little snoring kids know. Exactly.”

Of course I knew. Gielan’s expression was full of spirit.

“Looking at you, you seem to understand.”

“I came here to take it in the first place.”

“Who said it was free? listen carefully. You’re obviously a far-out guy, but it’s a while before the bowl is filled. If you’re conceited, you’ll get a serious nose injury.”

Aiden was well aware of his weakness. As long as he had only one life, he had no intention of overdoing it.

I came here because I thought it was possible.

“I will heed your advice.”

“Leave the seed and go. He dies.”

It was a problem that Aiden also had to worry about. Euron was definitely growing, but in the North, he was worse than a herbivore.

It’s something Iden can’t protect. I was grateful that Gielan talked about it first. Actually, I was going to ask for it, and there were parts that I was looking forward to.

“thank you.”

“Hmph, I got a guy to pamper.”

“Even if you look like that, you are good at one chore. Cooking is fine too.”

“Don’t talk nonsense. The cold will begin.”

Iden bowed his head and approached Euron.

“Euron.”

He jumped up and packed his things.

“You stay here.”

Euron’s hand stopped. Then, he looked up at Iden with a rather bewildered expression.

“that. that is···”

“In the North you are a burden.”

A shadow passed over Euron’s face. Because I knew you better than anyone else.

Iden walked closer to Euron and whispered lowly.

“The old man loves passion and effort more than talent.”

If you’re quick-witted, you’ll understand. Just in time, Daryl entered, trembling. He had a disgruntled expression on his face, but it seemed that he had been pushed hard by the old man.

“Damn old man. Is this cold… better?”

“Put on your clothes and come out. We start right away.”

He tried to bask in the warm fire, but his expression became a little gloomy. Without saying a word, he took Se-in and followed him.

Iden came out and undid the necklace.

And infused with divine power. The crystal jade soared into the air, dyeing the sky with a blue glow.

A long track led to the other side of the sky. After crossing the canyon and touching the horizon, I continued on my way.

It was only visible to the owner’s eyes.
