Overwatch: Rise of Rose

Chapter 130: Liberating Bismarck Part 2

General POV:

The team, now under Shawn's leadership, neared the event center. Numerous Bastion units were stationed around the building supported Shawn's claims of the Ravager being there. Scouting out the area, they found they didn't really have an opening for them to enter and pinpoint the Ravagers location. As they only had twenty minutes until the second team began their phase of the plan, it would most likely draw their attention giving them an opening to explore.

Twenty minutes later...

BOOM!

Even though the team was expecting it, the noise of the explosion made them jump anyway. Instantly, they saw movements from the omnics as they rushed to the source of the interruption. An opportunity presented itself immediately.

Shawn takes his arm, reaching behind him and pulling it overhead in front of him, the tactical signal to advance. The rest of the unit carefully and quietly progressed into the stadium while Shawn hung back a bit, making sure the rest of them were clear. Just as he goes to proceed into the building, he pauses. In the distance, he senses something, as he considers something momentarily before deciding against it. Karma certainly was a bitch.

Meanwhile.....

Sergeant POV:

BOOM!

I heard the explosion marking the second teams attack on the city which would no doubt draw out the Ravagers position within the building. Fuck Rose. People get a little power and think they're special of a sudden. Little shit had to know there was a pecking order to these things.

My mind goes back to when the war first started. I was with my military buddies, at a poker game at the time. His omnic was waiting for our game, but I naturally had a distrust for them, so I opted to go get my own drink, despite my friend's protests.

As I watched to the kitchen, I heard their laughter turn to screams in an instant. Coming back, I found the omnic choking my final friend. No matter what I did, I couldn't save him. The omnic only stopped when the life faded from his eyes. Seeing that I was next, I ran.

I wasn't running today. Whatever I did, I do for them. Rose didn't know of the pain and suffering we had to go through, the pain of losing someone. He dared walk around with that bucket of bolts like we weren't at war with them.

It was no matter. Once I took them down, I was going to re-establish my authority and punish Rose once we were back with the main unit. I couldn't hurt him physically, but there were more ways than one to harm someone.

The enemy wasn't so smart as they barely had any posts outside to keep me from coming in. I always knew they weren't smart. I waste no time in running into the building, my plan on catching them off guard and going in guns blazing to kill any inside.

General POV:

As soon as the explosions rocked the city, the Ravager in charge put everyone on alert. It obviously knew that deploying all forces towards the unknown threat wasn't the greatest of strategies, so it sent some to assess the situation. Until confirmed, some units were to continue what they were currently doing.

Some of those omnics that fell into that category, was the ones in the Heritage Center. There was a mass of metal still unharvested with that needed to be extracted and taken west and was one of the reasons that they were still occupied here. However, they were on standby just in case something happened.

Who would have imagined that seconds later, the omnics in the building are distracted by a noise. A man kicks the door in and immediately starts blasting. The Bastion units take the full brunt of the attack, dropping as he pushes into the building.

The man drops Bastion after Bastion with each corner that he turns. However, his luck is short-lived. Just as he pumps the rest of his clip into a Bastion, he goes to reload. Backing up, he bumps into something cold and hard that he knows isn't a wall. He turns, only to find one of the OR-14 bots stationed there. He has no time to react as it raises a super-heated blade and brings it down on him. Two parts fall to the ground in a thud as the omnics disregard what just happened and continue on with their orders,

Shawn POV:

Ignoring the death of the Sergeant, I continued on to complete the mission. Of course, I could easily take out the Ravager, but this was a good lesson for everyone else. The first step to overcoming your fears is to face them.

The team stuck to the shadows, investigating all possible locations of where they thought it would be. However, the answer was simple and right in front of them. This was another place where they didn't extract all the metal, therefore, the Ravager was overseeing the omnics doing so.

We found him smack dab in the middle of the field. I could feel their anxiousness as they were ready to open fire on him, but I raised my fist, telling them to hold. I pointed at the exits and mimic an explosion and they understand. Carefully, they spend the next ten minutes following through with the plan of booby trapping the exits.

This also allowed them to spread themselves out around the stadium. Nervously, they pointed their guns at the Ravager. With a motion, I tell them to open fire.

They take the Ravager by surprise who was occupied trying to see the situation on the front lines. It watches as its fellow omnics started falling from seemingly everywhere. Prioritizing its own safety, it takes off towards the exits. Once it makes it there, to its surprise a force makes it fly backwards. Bullets being to pelt it while its on the ground.

It raises his arm to shield itself from the bullets as it reaches for its weapon. Spying what it plans, I pull my own pistol, shooting the weapon out its hand. As there are no other omnics, everyone focus fires on the Ravager who struggles to his feet.

Originally, the Ravager was designed to withstand gunfire of most weapons, however, there was nothing it could do about concentrated, sustained gunfire. Seeing its vulnerable state, people begin to move in slowly towards it.

A bullet comes and takes out its vision, causing the Ravager squirm as the bullet also disrupts some of the circuits within him. We pause, just mere meters from him now as we continue to light him up with gun fire. Finally, the Ravager falls in a heaping mess and everyone stops shooting. Someone slowly comes up and kicks the Ravager only for it to not respond.

Throughout the city, everyone knew of the fall of the Ravager due to the response of the omnics. Another plan, that on paper shouldn't work, goes off without a hitch.
