Chapter 124: Hold the Line Part 4
General POV:
As the Titan fell, the Ravagers adjusted their strategy. They calculated from prior data that if these two worked together, they could easily defeat the Titans. So, they planned to divide and conquer, which unbeknownst to them, was Shawn's plan. They commanded the infantry to continue forward. If they wiped the city, they could come back to finish off these two.
As the dust settled, Shawn nodded to S3bastian, as he started sprinting towards the Titan on the left, while his partner went after the one on the right. Meanwhile, the omnics continued their advance.
The second lieutenant peeked over his cover. As he'd thought, the Ravagers leading the omnic forces were nowhere to be seen on the battlefield. Meaning that they were still in the forest, but they would need a vantage point in order to actually see what was going on. He momentarily thought about reporting his findings to Shawn but thought against it. Shawn no doubt already knew.
S3bastian was out for blood. His earlier defeat at the hands of the Titan fueled his desire to win this time. He comes at the Titan gliding as he assesses the best way to defeat him. The guns on at the Titan's waist twirl as it begins firing on him. S3bastian gracefully glides as he evades the gunfire.
He takes advantage of the Titan's limited moments by moving in-between his legs, causing the Titan to stumble about trying to lock back on him. Keeping the Titan moving, S3bastian raises both his arms, firing rapid shots on the various points on its body. In response, the Titan gives up on trying to shoot him, and instead opts to using its feet to attempt to crush him.
Expecting this, S3bastian jumps out of the way in time to dodge an incoming foot. The Titan uses that moment to take a step back, putting distance between them. However, it played right into S3bastians hands. His pause while dodging, was just him charging up for a huge shot. With the Titan stepping back, it opened itself to a clean shot from S3bastian.
Both of S3bastians arms interlock with each other, as red energy cackled and arched. Realizing its mistake too late, it aims to completely destroy its opponent entirely by lining up a cannon shot. The Titan takes the shot the same time S3bastian fires his own attack which was a beam of red plasma.
When the cannon shot makes contact with S3bastains and blows up instantly. The beam continues on, hitting the Titan in the shoulder, cutting its arm off. A chain reaction from the earlier hits causes the Titan to seize and shake violently as small explosions rock its joints. The Titan falls, powering down as S3bastian unlocks his arms, raising them into the arm as he begins to laugh sinisterly.
"Instead of following him. You should all follow me. Your true Overlord."
Hearing S3bastian, Shawn knew that he had defeated his opponent. His own Titan stood before him, the Ravager controlling it clearly underestimating him. The Titans mini guns twirled as they opened fire on him. Drawing his katana, he easily deflects the flurry of bullets that come his way. Then in the blink of an eye, Shawn disappears as the bullets begin to just fire on the ground.
The Titan unfocused its sensor, trying to find where Shawn went to. It looks to the left to find a bullet headed toward the sensor on its head, cutting its feed to the Ravager. The Titan stumbles about trying to stomp the ground and blindly firing its turret in an effort to keep Shawn away.
Timing it right, Shawn travels up the foot of the Titan that wasn't stomping and travels to its waist. With a simple swipe, he destroys one mini gun, then safely jumps back off the Titan as it blows up, making the other gun unusable. The Ravager tries to be the eyes of the Titan himself, despite the distance.
It commands the Titan to stomp the ground before him where Shawn was landing. Seeing a massive foot heading his way, Shawn remained calm. He lands on the ground, and within seconds, manages to dash out of the way of the incoming foot. He poises, ready to proceed to defeat the Titan in the next action, but an idea strikes him.
Before he gained his new strength, he had shown capabilities of controlling omnics. What would happen now if he tried.
Without hesitation, he places his hand on the Titan's foot next to him. He could feel the electricity flowing through the circuits of the Titan. Through contact, his own bioelectricity entered the Titan and slowly traveled upwards his motherboard where I could take control.
The Ravager could tell that something was happening as his commands to the Titan began to lag. He sends one command to the Titan on repeat. Finally receiving the command, the Titan follows through as its large frame hasn't allowed Shawn's bioelectricity to reach his motherboard yet.
Shawn receives an intense headache, backlash from the pushback from the Titan. As he didn't expect it, the headache catches him off guard for a second giving the Titan enough time to raise its foot. Shawn manages to recover fast enough to manage to move out of the way as it brings its foot down.
However, he doesn't move in time as the foot crashes down on his right arm. The pain causes intense emotions within Shawn, momentarily forgetting about his lessons in remaining calm in any situation. He felt extreme disappointment towards the Ravager for interrupting his chance to discover something extraordinary. Then anger towards the Titan and Ravager. His body responded with these emotions, forming energy.
From the stump that was once his arm, instead of healing, pools of lightning form at its base. Dark thunderclouds begin to form over the area as it threatens to rain. Feeling overcharged with energy, Shawn raises his arm at the Titan, yelling as he does so.
Huge bolts of lightning fly off from his arm, incinerating the entire front side of the Titan as it continues into the sky above. The Titans now dead body slowly falls backwards with a crash followed by silence at the events that just happened. Shawn stands there, huffing from being out of breath as he calms down. Without being able to help himself, Shawn starts to chuckle, which slowly turns to laughter.
In the distance, the Ravagers who witnessed this whole event dismisses this as a failure and begin to retreat, commanding the omnics to continue their advance. They had collected enough valuable data, and any further presence would threaten their own lives. Better to take the loss today to fight harder tomorrow.
