Overwatch: Rise of Rose

Chapter 11: Finishing Touches

Nothing interesting happens in the course of two years.

I kept up my training with Mamoru and have made great progress.

I learned sword techniques after showing mastery in the three different stances and currently only use one katana.

After trying out a multitude of weapons, my favorite was an assault rifle, and the pistol. Since an assault rifle is easily noticeable, I prefer to think of myself like John Wick, using pistols more.

I was currently in the third grade and the top of my class. I was still waiting on my training to conclude before showing that I was a genius.

I made great strides with understanding the nature of my powers.

I found that as long as electricity was already preexisting, I could control it.

Learning from my experience with the battery, electricity had to maintain a constant state of motion.

The mistake I made was trying to keep it still when it needed to stay active.

To try to make myself more efficient, I tried to carry batteries with me, but for some reason, none would work when around me for extended periods of time.

I had grown accustomed to Mamoru's presence from the time that he's been living in the mansion.

He was a chill, and often would be lost in his thoughts and I knew he was worried about his family.

It seemed like he accepted his fate of being banished but didn't know what to do with his life now.

In fact, lately he's been acting a bit suspicious, opting to sneak around a lot for some reason.

I was planning on somehow confronting him about it tomorrow.

That night, I was awoken by a tapping on my shoulder.

Looking at the culprit with sleepy eyes, I see a tall figure with a black vest that wasn't buttoned up to show another black vest.

Underneath was black dress shirt that wasn't fully buttoned up to reveal his dragon tattoos.

His dressed shirt sleeves were folded back to his wrists with black silk gloves and a hood that shows only his eyes.

"Salami ceiling sushi nissan nike." The figure mumbles and I translate what he says to that.

"Huh?" I reply.

He pulls his mask down and my mind finally processes that it's Mamoru.

"Come with me, it's time I taught you one final thing."

As I get out of bed, he passes me a black bag with a hanger out the top.

I pull the plastic off and see a three piece black suit that I waste no time in putting on.

There's also a mask, which resembles the one Obito wore in the Fourth Shinobi War.

Somehow a suit should restrict movement at times, but it feels no different from wearing a t-shirt and jeans.

"The suit is made to be like that to ensure that your movements are free to engage in close combat.

I know how much you enjoy your pistols, so there's a space inside your jacket pocket to securely hide a pistol.

The mask you prefer, although the hooded cowl is more practical.

One last thing."

He hands me a present with a bow tie on it.

Unwrapping the gift, I smile as I'm given what makes the John WIck experience complete for me.

It's John Wick's favorite pistol, the HK p30l which I decided to start learning how to use like him.

I was originally going to dual wield, but I found wielding a knife in one hand and a pistol in the other the most enjoyable.

I look at him and raise an eyebrow, questioning why I'm getting all these gifts.

He chuckles, "I'll explain along the way."

We hop into the Bentley hover car with him driving and me in the passenger seat.

"You've shown great promise in your training. So much, that I have nothing left to teach you.

All that remains is for you to get some experience.

That being said, I've been tracking the movements of a Hashimoto cell operating within your state.

It's small but any infection starts small before growing into a disease that's hard to get rid of.

Your test tonight, is to use everything I've taught you and get rid of them before they take root in your country."

We drive for about an hour, before parking our car in some bushes in the desert.

We walk for five minutes before coming across an abandoned factory.

After putting on our respective face coverings, he motions for me to take the lead.

I turn to scope out the best way to infiltrate the building without being seen.

Having a question, I turn back around to ask him, and find him completely gone.

I sigh and put a suppressor on my new pistol which I place in my left jacket pocket.

Taking a deep breath, I ran across the parking lot of the factory, using the trash cans and leftover cars as cover from anybody possibly on the roof.

Taking a second to look around, I spot an escape ladder that reaches the roof, which I decide is the best course of action as I can clear the roof to make sure there's no patrols up there and maintain the high ground.

Once on the roof, I spot a tall skinny Asian male who is bored while standing looking out to the desert to the east, while holding an assault rifle.

Remembering that he's there, before I engage, I scout the rest of the roof to find only one more guy in the opposite direction.

Making the decision to take the second guy down first, I slowly approached him, careful to not make a single sound as he could alert anyone inside.

Sneaking up behind him, I wasted no time in karate chopping the space behind his ear.

Stunned at the sudden pain, he gasps but no noise escapes his mouth as he clutches where he was struck.

Maneuvering in front of him, I punch his chin upwards, snapping his jaw closed as his eyes roll to the back of his head and he falls to the ground.

I searched him to see if he had any form of communication with anyone else, and found a cell phone.

Setting it to vibrate, I put it in my pocket before heading to the other guy.

Slowly approaching him, I begin to reach out with my right hand, to choke him.

The phone I put in my pocket buzzes softly for a moment which makes the guy's attention snap to his own pocket.

He slightly turns to reach into his pocket then catches sight of me.

The guy tries to turn his gun on me, but with my extended hand, I knock it back away.

I follow up with an elbow to his stomach, causing his grip on the gun to loosen.

Grabbing his assault rifle, I slam the butt of it into the side of his head into his temple.

As his unconscious body falls to the floor with shaking hands I set his weapon to the side away from him.

My heart skipped a beat when he turned around and caught me off guard a bit.

Luckily my training on my reflexes helped improve my response time.

I take a look at the guys phone to see what almost got me killed and it's just a meme about a lady pointing at a cat while yelling at it.

Taking a second to get myself together, drawing my gun with my right hand, and my knife on the left, I go through the door that leads to the roof.

Slowly making my way down the stairs, into a hallway with seven doors, three on each side and one at the end.

Trying each door and finding them locked, I tried the final door before the one at the end and the door handle turns.

Slowly entering the room, I check each corner to find a guy on the ground unconscious.

Suddenly a tap on my shoulder scared me, causing me to swing my knife around.

A hand catches my wrist stopping the knife as Mamoru motions for me to be quiet.

He whispers to me, "Took your time getting here."

Recovering from the scare he just gave me I whisper back, "I'm trying my best here."

He steps back, "Are you though? Why do you think you are here? Why do you think I gave you a gun? To knock them out with it? A Shimada teacher must take his student out and kill before they can acknowledge them."

My mind processes what he said, and everything makes sense. He wanted me to get rid of them but for some reason I thought he meant to knock them out and let the police deal with them.

I assumed that was the case, because I wanted it to be so.

I've never killed before, and doubted that I ever could.

I open my mouth to protest and he says, "It shouldn't be hard, you almost just killed me there.

What have I been teaching you that Shimada are? We're a clan of ninjas, who throughout centuries have performed many assassinations.

You wanted to learn from a Shimada and I'm teaching you like one. So, according to Shimada traditions, if you fail to kill, you must die."
