Overlord: Rise of the Demon God

Chapter 16: Chapter 16: The Adamantite Rank Adventurer

Kael rode atop Hamsuke as they made their way through the outskirts of E-Rantel. The streets were bustling, filled with merchants, adventurers, and townsfolk going about their daily lives. Yet, as the massive beast carrying Kael and the members of Blue Rose moved through the city, people stopped what they were doing, staring in shock and curiosity.

It wasn't every day that a mysterious figure clad in dark robes, with an aura that sent chills down spines, rode a creature thought to be a myth.

Some whispered in hushed voices.

"Is that the Wise King of the Forest?"

"It is! But who's that man riding it?"

"That's an adventurer group… Wait, isn't that Blue Rose?"

The presence of an Adamantite-ranked team escorting an unknown warrior immediately drew attention.

Lakyus, sensing the growing murmurs, turned to Kael. "You're quite the spectacle, Kael Drakon."

Kael remained indifferent, his crimson eyes observing the capital as they continued toward the Adventurer's Guild. "This much is expected."

Tina chuckled. "Yeah, but I don't think I've ever seen this much attention on us before. Even with Blue Rose, we don't usually turn heads like this."

Gagaran grinned. "Well, that's what happens when you bring a walking disaster into town."

Evileye, who had remained mostly silent, glanced toward Kael, her instincts sharp. Something about him felt… different. She had met powerful beings before—some were warriors, others magic casters—but Kael did not fit into any simple category.

Still, she couldn't put her finger on it.

Instead of pushing the thought, she kept quiet, choosing to observe.

As they reached the Adventurer's Guild, the massive building loomed ahead, its intricate stone structure displaying the grandeur of E-Rantel's renowned gathering place for adventurers. The moment they entered, all eyes fell on them.

The usual chatter halted as the sight of Blue Rose walking in alongside a completely unknown figure riding the Wise King of the Forest left even the most hardened adventurers stunned.

"Is that really Hamsuke?" someone whispered.

"I heard that thing was a myth!"

"But who's the guy riding it?"

Ignoring the stares, Lakyus led the way toward the Guild Leader's office.

Inside, Ainzach, the Guild Leader of E-Rantel, sat behind a sturdy desk, his expression shifting from curiosity to sheer shock as he took in the sight before him.

"Lakyus… and the entirety of Blue Rose," Ainzach muttered, standing from his seat. His eyes then flickered toward Kael, who had removed his hood, revealing his cold yet refined features. "And… you are?"

Kael's voice was calm. "Kael Drakon."

Lakyus took the lead. "We came to report a matter of great importance. This man, Kael Drakon, is responsible for eliminating countless threats in the Forest of Tob. He has single-handedly destroyed hordes of monsters, including high-level creatures, and—" she glanced at Evileye, "—he is a magic caster capable of 5th-tier spells."

Ainzach's face darkened in disbelief.

"…5th-tier?"

Gagaran crossed her arms. "Yeah, and not just a simple one. He wiped out entire mobs with large-scale Thunder Dragon spells. If we hadn't seen it ourselves, we wouldn't believe it either."

Tia nodded. "It was overwhelming. He wasn't just strong—he was beyond anything a normal adventurer could compare to."

Ainzach remained silent for a moment before exhaling deeply.

"If that is true, then I don't think there is anything more to discuss." He looked at Kael directly. "With such overwhelming strength, I believe there's only one rank that suits you."

Silence filled the room.

Ainzach took out a platinum-colored plate, its markings signifying the highest rank in the adventurer hierarchy.

"Kael Drakon, by the authority of the E-Rantel Adventurer's Guild, you are hereby granted Adamantite rank."

Even Lakyus raised an eyebrow. "Just like that?"

Ainzach sighed. "We don't have time to go through a 'test' or 'evaluation' for someone who has already surpassed what any test would require. If he's already stronger than nearly every Adamantite adventurer we've seen, what would be the point?"

Kael accepted the plate with a brief glance before storing it away.

"This rank allows you access to any kingdom freely, grants high-level commissions, and—most importantly—it signifies that you are among the elite of adventurers."

He sat back down, rubbing his temples. "To be honest, this is absurd. You just appeared out of nowhere, and already you hold an Adamantite plate."

Kael said nothing.

Ainzach shook his head before looking at Lakyus again. "And you're saying he's going to the capital with you?"

Lakyus nodded. "Yes. Given his strength, it would be appropriate to honor his deeds in the Kingdom."

Ainzach chuckled. "A mysterious Adamantite adventurer appearing in the Kingdom out of nowhere… This is going to cause some noise."

Kael remained silent as Blue Rose concluded the conversation.

As they left the Guild, the sun had already begun to set, casting a golden glow over the city.

Their journey toward the capital of Re-Estize would begin soon.

As they rode along the road leading out of E-Rantel, the atmosphere remained somewhat lighthearted. Gagaran laughed as she recounted the expressions of those in the Guild, while Tia and Tina discussed rumors of recent conflicts brewing in the Kingdom.

Evileye, however, stole subtle glances toward Kael.

The longer she remained near him, the more she felt something strange. It wasn't a direct bloodlust or hostility, but rather a presence that did not belong in the normal world.

He was strong—undeniably so.

Yet, for some reason, she couldn't shake the feeling that he was something entirely different from anything she had encountered before.

Still, she kept her thoughts to herself.

Kael remained deep in thought.

His actions had secured him a high-ranking status in human society, allowing him to move freely and gather resources. More importantly, the mass slaughter of demons had not only increased his experience significantly but also allowed him to understand more about the mechanics of this world. Unlike in YGGDRASIL, there was no guarantee that killing creatures would yield EXP. However, demons—especially those summoned through Abyssal Wrath—had provided experience, confirming that at least some high-level monsters could contribute to his growth.

If Nazarick had similar demons or ways to summon them, it could be another path to gaining more power.

Regardless, he had already accumulated vast amounts of experience—more than enough to make significant improvements.

The road ahead was only just beginning.
