Chapter 402: Grudge over a stolen meal
The next morning, Dorothy finished her breakfast beautifully and, as usual, left Sophia to clean up after her. She then went to the balcony, waiting for Audrey and Senior Mia below to hurry up and get out of bed.
"Good morning, senior sister."
Little Fox walked onto the balcony, still groggy from sleep. She stretched like a cat in the sun, and her supple waistline with its beautiful vest line made Dorothy quickly blink her eyes.
Accustomed to catching the breakfast tossed down from the balcony above, Audrey's nine fluffy tails fanned out like a peacock's plumage, basking in the warm morning sunlight.
The breeze on the high-rise tousled the soft golden hair at the temples of this nation-toppling beauty, forcing Audrey to eat with one hand while gently tucking the stray locks behind her delicate ears with the other.
Wonderful, just wonderful.
Having feasted her eyes on such beauty first thing in the morning, Dorothy's mood had greatly improved.
And on the balcony of the fourth tallest building below, the Dragon Beauty, still alluring in her semi-transparent lace nightgown, also poked her head out and gave Dorothy a gentle smile that was even brighter than the sun.
"Good morning, little fairy."
Senior Mia leaned on the balcony, and because of her tall stature, she rested her thickly padded shoulders on the railing, a feeling that significantly reduced the pressure on her shoulders and relaxed the Dragon Rich Lady. She waved at the person above who held her heart, sending a flirtatious wink with her eyes.
So, Dorothy blinked even more cheerfully.
She thought that the Blink Photography Technique needed an update—it definitely needed a burst mode.
"Alright, we have work to do today, so let's head out early."
After a surge of excitement, suddenly feeling listless, the Sage Witch used a feeding skill on the rich lady below and then spoke.
Although the construction of the guild's base was complete, the detailed decoration and furniture arrangement and other such tasks were still unfinished, and there were plenty of things to be busy with today.
However, just as the packed breakfast was about to fall into Senior Mia's hands, the door to the third tallest building suddenly opened. A figure shot into the sky and vanished in a flash, the breakfast hanging on the broom due to the high speed and disappearing with it, leaving behind only a colorful phantom.
Dorothy: ".....".
Mia: "...".
Where's my breakfast, my big breakfast?
The two witches stared dumbfounded at everything, taking a long time to react.
After a while, realizing that the beloved breakfast her sweetheart had given her had been hijacked en route, the Golden Princess shivered with anger and was on the verge of chasing after the thief to deliver a beating. Luckily, the Homebody Witch quickly held her back and calmed down the nearly berserk Mother Tyrannosaurus with some food from her own snack reserves.
"Forget it, senior sister. It's just some food, after all. Not worth it, not worth it."
"By the way, who was that just now? It's the first time I've seen her. Too bad she flew too fast; I didn't get a good look at her."
Dorothy looked curiously in the direction the person just disappeared, this indeed being the first time she had seen her neighbor.
Moreover, she had always been curious about who ranked slightly above Senior Mia, presumably also a well-known figure in the academy.
"Christina, the Club President of the Glorious Sun, the contemporary head of the Evocation School at the academy and also a primeval witch,"
Senior Mia, still seething with resentment, ground her teeth as she introduced her.
This one was her old nemesis, having entered the academy in the same year and always being her rival.
Of course, given her nature, she usually didn't like pointless conflicts with others, but the other party always seemed to enjoy causing trouble for her, comparing themselves over everything, which greatly annoyed Mia.
What was most irritating was after she went to various lengths to find out why the other was bothering her, the reason left her speechless.
Hmm, it turned out to be merely because that person was too poor and held some resentment towards the rich, naturally not fond of her, the future richest woman in the world.
When she first heard this reason, Mia was dumbfounded, having previously imagined all sorts of possible reasons, like whether she had accidentally bankrupted the other's family, or perhaps inadvertently offended them in some way. But this was it?
But thinking about it, it made sense, since the other party was after all a primeval witch, and her mortal family could not afford the resources a witch needed for growth. Even with the subsidies from the Council of Sages for primeval witches, that would only cover the bare minimum consumption for a genius witch.
Because of this, in order to earn some extra living expenses, Christina had to work various part-time jobs quite often, which was also why Dorothy hadn't seen this neighbor for so long; she was busy working.
Of course, Mia had always kept a secret from others, which was that Christina had actually been working under her name the whole time.
This poor primeval witch who hadn't seen much of the world thought that by not working in the shops of the Golden Country, she could escape her influence. Naive—she had no idea of the reach of the richest witch in the Witch World.
The shops where she now worked did not bear the sign of the Golden Country, but in reality, they were either subordinate to the Golden Country or guilds controlled by the Golden Country. Find your next read on My Virtual Library Empire
Hehe... Mia had been waiting for the day that the primeval witch miss would discover the truth. She was curious to see what kind of expression would appear on the face of this strong-willed individual when she realized that the kind shopkeepers she had encountered over the years were all actually backed by her, the rival she loathed the most.
Well, Mia didn't truly dislike this primeval witch miss, even though the latter always enjoyed competing with her. The person wasn't bad, and her talent and strength were both quite outstanding. She was also hardworking and eager to learn, a very motivated and good kid.
She was quite willing to support such a promising classmate who was temporarily not very well-off. After all, if it was a good deed she could do with just a bit of money, why not? The last thing she was short of was money.
You see, the reason the Astoros Family had always flourished was not only due to their endless wealth but also because of the connections they had all over the world. Their favorite thing was to invest in these talented genius witches.
But that was a separate matter. Mia had never cared about the minor skirmishes in the past, but today's affront to her meal had genuinely angered her. She made a mental note of it, resolving to thoroughly thrash the offender next time the opportunity arose.
"Eh, a primeval witch?"
Dorothy was taken aback after hearing the introduction.
...The homebody witch was pensive...
