Origins of Fate

Chapter 89: 44. The Grim Future (part 1)

Character : Nathan Fiore, The Grim Future

As the two of us stared deeply at each other, I realized that the headmaster or Zero never had any intentions of fighting.

They are only showing off. To show me that I am facing two of the strongest people in the continent that have combined into one.

I do find it odd that they were able to split and combine like they're not even humans, but I doubt it was something simple. And I doubt he is ever going to say anything about that, so I'm never gonna ask about it.

"So, this is it? This is the real you? The one that massacred my village?" I asked while wearing the confident smile at him, and Zero a.k.a. the headmaster only laughs at me.

"You're confident! You probably think you have something up your sleeves!" Zero said to me, and I knew right away that this was him talking.

"But the army you have outside will amount to nothing! All of you will just die in my hands!"

"I have nothing. I admit, if the army outside were to face you, everyone would probably die. But, I'm just really glad that you've finally shown your true face. Possible or not, I will make sure to kill you." I said to the man who slaughtered my village, and he only laughed loudly.

"Then, let's see who---… Hold on, we're not here to fight." Zero's voice halted instantly, and right away I could tell who stopped him from talking.

The headmaster is back on the steering wheel, and it seems like there are two people that exist inside one body. As the headmaster smiled at me, I just stared at him with such a confused face.

"Apologies for the sudden change. Usually he and I can switch between each other pretty casually. Except whenever we had some disagreements on something, then we usually took over each other." The headmaster explained, and I realized just how difficult it is to have two people inside your body.

"Why did you slaughter my village?" I asked again, and this is the third time I've asked him since he has revealed himself to me.

And every time, he always gave me either a joke as an answer or not answering it and instead telling me about the prophecy. Now, he has all the chances to tell me about it.

"To kill your mother." The headmaster said with his cold smile, and I can feel myself burning inside.

"… Why?"

"Because she knew too much. And since she is not the child in the prophecy, there is no reason for us to keep her alive." The headmaster explained the reasoning, and I can tell Mom's existence must've been a real pain in the ass to him and his colleagues.

"So… you killed everyone in the village?"

"That… was mostly Zero. He already told you. He just kills for sport." The headmaster said with an apologetic face, and I realized Zero was telling the truth.

"And what did… my mother know?" I asked with barely any voice in me.

I have gotten to the point where I can't hold back anymore, and talking to these two in one bastard has made me become like this.

The headmaster only smiled at my question, and he turned around. He lifted his hand and used his darkness origin, and a wide circular dark wall appeared right where he moved his hand.

Is that… a portal?

"You can figure that out by yourself." The headmaster said while grinning at me, and I knew right away that he was about to leave.

VWOOOOOOOMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very quickly, I activated my Limit Break and made a fireball at the same time. The giant fireball was made and fired forward, and it destroyed everything that was in the headmaster's room.

However… only the decorations and the window at the back got destroyed. The headmaster himself is still standing with the portal he just made.

"You really have no respect for other people's offices." The headmaster commented from behind the smoke, and I really wanted to chase after him. But after seeing how he is unscathed, I realized that I can't face him alone.

"Your mother was much smarter in that aspect. Seriously, just why did she leave her child alone at the age of nine?" The headmaster jokes, and I really feel like I wanted to explode some more.

"I'll find you… and kill you." I said while barely holding on to the last bit of sanity, and he just giggled as he entered.

"I'll be waiting. But by the time you find me, it will be too late. Enjoy your last few days on Avenor." The headmaster said as he entered the portal, and I really wanted to chase after him.

But… I can't. As I expected, the current him is just far too strong for me to handle alone.

The headmaster entered the portal completely, and the dark circle wall disappeared the instant he fully entered. Once the portal disappeared, the sound of wind came from outside the window, and four people had arrived on the destroyed window I just opened up.

"Where is he!?" Jonah shouted while asking me, but I only closed my eyes as I held my painful head.

"He's gone."

And with that, our encounter with the most dangerous man on Avenor has ended.

We went back to the Steelbird for further discussions, and Frisena came with us this time. I told her that the headmaster shouldn't appear in the academy anymore, so it will be fine for the students to move back into the building.

"Then? Where did he go?" Eric asked after I told everyone what I've heard from him, and I just shook my head.

"I don't know."

The headmaster did say one thing before he left. He said that by the time we find out, it will be too late. I just hope that it's not true.

"We'll find him. We can send our men all over Avenor." Frisena said firmly after hearing what happened, and I just nodded. "For now, let's regroup at the base."

Hearing Frisena's words, it doesn't seem like I have many options.

Beforelong, we all boarded the Steelbird again and headed to our base in the desert, not too far from Ellen. This is a new base that Frisena prepared in a hurry in just a week.

The construction is still going on even now, but at least the important rooms like living quarters or other necessities are already completed. This is where we all have been staying the past week, and we've been preparing for when or if the headmaster and Zero were to show up.

Frisena's real base that is near the earth nation has changed functions to be the new academy. The students and teachers of the academy might need to stay there for a bit longer until we're done dealing with the headmaster. And if the headmaster decides to show up in front of those students and teachers, the entire military regiment of the earth nation will be able to send out their help.

Arriving at the new base, we all went to the usual meeting room right away. The meeting room is also technically our living quarters, but only for the five of us who have officially joined Frisena's private military group.

The room is large and circular with a round table in the middle. There are doors that lead to the bedrooms on the back wall across the entrance, and each room was owned by each of us five. Aside from the bedrooms, there's also a hallway that leads to another room that has a kitchen, a library, and even a couch with a large screen for us to see images or footage from.

My room is on the furthest left. The door is red with a large Fiordall symbol plastered in the middle. Next to me is Lily's room whose door is colored dark blue and with Valkaria's symbol. After that is Nyssa's door, and her door is colored green. Next to Nyssa is Jonah's brown door that looks like wood. Finally, Eric's door is colored light blue.

There's actually two other rooms that have not been used yet because the owners haven't joined. They are the light and darkness origin representatives of the group, and their doors are white and black. But since they haven't joined yet, the rooms were just empty and locked shut.

Arriving at the meeting room, everyone quickly got down to business. We all sat down at the round table at the center of the room, while Jonah went to the back to prepare drinks for us.

After everyone had sat down, I told them about what the headmaster told me during our conversation, and some parts were quite a surprise to them.
