Chapter 58 - The Bath Meeting is a Service Meeting - 01
“Big brother, is the plate ready?”
“Just a bit more!”
While I wondered about Reina’s twisting and turning, I prepared for the barbecue. Since it was the latest home appliance, it seemed to have various functions, so I briefly read the instruction manual. Well, since it was just grilling, it wasn’t particularly difficult.
“Yes! I cut the vegetables, Senior!”
“…What is this? These aren’t the BBQ vegetables I know?”
Misuzu brought the cut vegetables. However, the vegetables cut by Misuzu, who doesn’t usually cook, were quite uneven.
“What’s this? You just cut them with a knife, right?”
“Bell peppers are supposed to be cut vertically, why horizontally? And what is this? Pickles?”
“Onions…”
“So, it’s onions…”
The bell peppers cut horizontally and the onions that were peeled too much to the point of being bite-sized. Now that I think about it, I haven’t had Misuzu cook at all until now.
“Ah, I guarantee the taste!”
(Well, the taste won’t change. Since they aren’t cooked.)
“Alright, big brother, here’s the meat!”
Then Nana brought a plate of high-quality meat that made the awkward vegetables seem irrelevant.
“Wow, this is marbled beef…”
“Hehe. It’s a celebration for moving today.”
“It looks delicious…”
“Wow, it’s so expensive, you don’t see this kind of meat at all-you-can-eat places.”
And the BBQ began. Although the sun had already set, the balcony was brightly lit by lights. In this top-floor location, there are no insects, making for a comfortable BBQ experience.
“What is this! It’s melting!”
“Nana! I want more rice!”
“Can I have some too?”
“Sure, I cooked ten go of rice, so feel free to take as much as you want!”
The marbled meat was grilled one after another. Even the oddly cut vegetables by Misuzu tasted the same when grilled, as expected.
“BBQ, huh… This is actually my first time.”
“Yeah, mom was busy with work and we were poor.”
Kenya and Nana were experiencing BBQ for the first time.
“I’m the same. But somehow, I feel very happy.”
“I understand. It feels so warm…”
The four people here. The common point of these four who ended up living together due to strange connections.
Kenya and Nana lost their father, and their mother is battling illness. Misuzu never knew her parents, and Reina lost hers.
So, this guild should be able to become everyone’s place.
Even if we aren’t related by blood, we should be able to be a family.
“Yeah… family…”
“It’s nice, big brother. I like this.”
“Yeah, really. It feels like the spring of my life has come. It’s really delicious. I want to become a child of this house.”
“I also want to be a family with Kenya…”
Misuzu devoured the meat, puffing out her cheeks like a hamster. Reina was mumbling something, but it was too quiet to hear clearly.
“How’s school recently, Misuzu? Has it changed since middle school?”
“I get bothered by annoying boys a lot, I’ve been confessed to about five times… I like high school because of the private clothes and good place.”
“You’re still popular, huh?”
“Well, yeah, but I’m not interested in kids. Hey, Senior, I’m popular. What do you think?”
“Why are you asking me? Of course, you’re popular. You’re cute.”
“More! Tell me more! That I’m cute! Say it more! Satisfy my need for approval!”
“Idiot.”
“Aah!”
“What about me, Kenya?”
“Reina is more like beautiful than cute…”
“Cute or beautiful… which is better… What should I aim for?”
“Is there even a need to aim for something?”
“Big brother, what about me?”
“Do you want to hear from your brother that you’re cute? Even from a brother’s perspective, you’re beautiful.”
“I know.”
“Then why did you ask!?”
A trivial conversation.
But this kind of daily life is exactly what I was seeking.
