Chapter 13 - Great Boss Battle 2
The battle was decided with the first strike. When I received the Goblin General’s crude sword’s blow, I felt the same as with the hobgoblin.
(Light! What’s this?)
I tried to overpower him in the sword clash with brute force.
“Gigiyaa!”
The goblin let out a pained cry. Then, I put all my strength into it.
My blade cut through the general and his crude sword. The goblin turned to ash and disappeared.
The mentally unstable girl watching from the corner let out a cheer. Now that I think about it, I haven’t even asked her name yet.
“Wow, you’re amazing! So strong!”
The girl ran over and wrapped her body around my arm. I felt something soft against my arm but, unfortunately, she had almost no chest. Disappointing.
Even so, I was flustered by the faint sensation, stammering as I answered. For a virgin, this stimulus was too much.
“N-no! It’s just that the equipment is strong!”
“Does that mean you’re rich?”
“No, I’m poor…”
“Hmm, I don’t get it.”
“Anyway, let’s go to the next floor. There should be a gate to the surface.”
Then, a treasure chest appeared from the Goblin General. It was a copper-colored chest. Remembering it, Kenya opened the box.
Inside, there was an accessory.
“This is an accessory… a goblin necklace?”
There was a necklace made of goblin ears inside. It’s too distasteful to wear, but since I don’t have any other accessories, I reluctantly equip it.
(Ugh, this is gross. I’ll set it to non-visible.)
The ability seems to adjust DP points? For now, I’ll equip it. The accessory’s effect allows for 1.1 times more DP acquisition.
“This is actually quite good. I wonder what it evolves into.”
I knew about this item. It doesn’t sell for much because it only affects explorers and the 1.1 times boost isn’t that strong.
As I was lost in thought, “Herako” started talking. The “hera” comes from “mental” (menhera). I didn’t know her name, so I gave her a nickname, but of course, I didn’t say it out loud.
“Um, you haven’t told me your name yet, right? I’m Misuzu Suzuki, a first-year high school student!”
For some reason, she emphasized the “high school girl” part while looking up at me, Herako—I mean, Suzuki.
“I’m Mikenju Kenya, a second-year high school student.”
“Oh, so you’re my senior! Do you want me to call you senpai or Kenya?”
“Just call me by my name.”
“Got it, Kenya. Then call me Misuzu too. ‘Suzuki’ is too common.”
Herako—Misuzu—came closer to me. While thinking it was rude to all Suzukis in the country, I agreed, as I also knew a Suzuki, and called her Misuzu.
“Alright, Misuzu. Let’s head to the gate.”
The two of us entered the gate, teleporting to the 10th floor.
There, a vast grassland spread out as far as the eye could see. For some reason, there were also many house-like structures.
I couldn’t imagine people living here, but why are there houses? Apparently, these houses are managed by the Dungeon Association, an organization that oversees dungeons. Ai, my navigator, is also a member of the Dungeon Association.
People were also teleporting from the central gate with light. They probably came from the first floor.
The 10th floor had several large gates at its center. The blue gate led to the first floor, the red gate led to the 11th floor, and there were gates to the 20th to 60th floors. The gate to the 60th floor was recently unlocked by the [Evening Star] guild.
However, since we haven’t transferred from the other side, we can’t use it yet.
“Shall we go back to the first floor?”
Misuzu was staring, or rather glaring, at someone. Looking where she was glaring, two men were talking and laughing loudly.
…
“Finally, we got rid of that troublesome girl.”
“We added her to the party because she’s a supporter, but she was useless and just stood behind.”
“Yeah, splitting our earnings into three parts for a week was too much. Leaving her was the right decision.”
Their unpleasant conversation was probably about Misuzu. It seemed they had been in a party with her for about a week. Not liking the idea of splitting earnings into three parts, they left her in the dungeon.
“Maybe we wasted something good…”
“Don’t bother. She’s cute, but she’s definitely a mental case, a ticking time bomb. She’d stab you for sure.”
“True! And she seems like a slut too!”
“Hahaha!”
What an unpleasant conversation. Just because they left her in the dungeon doesn’t make it okay.
It was fortunate I found her, but if no one had come, she might have starved to death there. Misuzu couldn’t descend from the 8th floor or defeat the 9th floor’s boss. Thinking about it made me incredibly angry.
Sensing my anger, Misuzu stopped me.
“It’s fine! I deserved to be abandoned…”
Hearing Misuzu’s sad voice and seeing her forced smile made my anger peak. No one deserves to be abandoned. At least, I would never abandon someone for being useless or unskilled.
Understanding why I had overlapped myself with Misuzu, Kenya walked towards the men. His fist clenched in anger.
“Hey!”
He tapped their shoulders and punched one of them in the face just hard enough not to kill him as they turned around. Though he meant to hit lightly, he misjudged his strength. As expected of the King’s power, the man flew away amusingly, like in a manga.
