Chapter 35: Chapter 35: A Girl’s Dream
Uta's fingers traced along the lines of Luffy's muscles, her curiosity piqued as she explored the unfamiliarity of a boy's body, especially knowing that, in her dream world, Luffy was entirely oblivious to her actions. This secretive thrill made her heart race as she studied his form, satisfying her curiosity about the opposite gender.
Clenching her fist with excitement, she murmured, "Luffy was right. With powers like these, you always want to use them." She could finally understand why he was always so eager to unleash his Conqueror's Haki.
A quiet gasp escaped her lips as she pressed one hand against her own chest and ran the other over Luffy's, noticing how firm his was compared to hers. Her gaze lingered on his face for a moment, cheeks flushed. "There's really nothing that special about a boy's body," she mumbled, slightly embarrassed.
She glanced down toward Luffy's lower body, her curiosity still lingering, but a wave of fatigue reminded her that her time was running out.
---
In Uta's Dream World
Luffy was, as usual, off in a corner training. He had a nagging feeling that someone was watching him, though. Kids often have keen senses, and Luffy trusted his instinct. "Uta! Are you spying on me?"
Uta's head popped out from behind a clump of bushes, giggling with a blush on her cheeks. "You caught me," she admitted shyly.
"I knew it!" Luffy chuckled, pressing the back of his hand against her forehead. "Why is your face so hot?"
"Maybe… I'm just feeling a bit flustered?" Uta stammered, hoping he wouldn't catch on.
Luffy has no idea I've been playing with his body! It's not anything weird… I was just curious, Uta reassured herself.
To hide her embarrassment, she stood up straighter, legs together and hands behind her back, looking away demurely. Her skirt rose slightly as she shifted, her cheeks still tinged pink.
Luffy swallowed. Uta really is… pretty cute like this.
"It's strangely quiet in the castle today. I can't even hear a mosquito buzzing around," Luffy mused, trying to change the topic. "It feels like we're the only ones here."
"Y-Yeah…" Uta's voice wavered.
In this dream world, it truly was just the two of them.
"Your voice is beautiful, Uta," Luffy admitted. Something about her singing had recently started to captivate him.
"Th-Thank you…" Uta stammered, momentarily flustered.
Luffy was typically direct and straightforward, so hearing such genuine compliments threw her off. This was the first time she realized just how sweet he could be.
"Uta," Luffy began, sensing that he had her full attention. "Your first dream is about to come true, isn't it? I'm happy for you."
"My… first dream?"
"Yeah. Standing onstage, surrounded by blooming flowers and thunderous applause…" Luffy grinned.
Uta often pictured herself performing in front of huge audiences, and every time she sang for the crew, she mentally transformed their ship into a grand concert hall.
"With the king as your mentor, that dream should be easy to achieve," Luffy said encouragingly.
She nodded, her gaze becoming distant as she envisioned the grand performance awaiting her in the king's hall.
"Well, when the time comes for you to leave, the king will surely give you one last concert to show Shanks just how much you've accomplished."
"Yeah…"
Luffy had gathered all the information he wanted, so he relaxed and looked away, scratching at an itch on his chest. Was it just my imagination, or does my chest feel a bit weird?
Uta felt a pang of guilt but tried to keep her composure.
"Luffy…"
"Huh?" He turned to look at her.
"Until next time."
"Do-re-mi~"
And with that, the dream ended.
---
In the real world, Uta clung to the side of a cabinet, her legs trembling from exhaustion. My stamina… it's drained, she thought.
Glancing at Luffy's sleeping form, she noted with relief that he was still deep in slumber. It worked—he's staying asleep.
Uta had discovered two rules about her powers: the dreamscape had a subtle influence on the person's mind, making them accept the dream as long as it wasn't too outlandish. If the person was already tired, the dream would end naturally, and they'd simply continue sleeping. Her powers were difficult to control, and using them had already left her drained after only twenty minutes. But she was getting stronger.
In that world, it's just Luffy and me, she realized with a small thrill.
Uta stared at her hand, flexing her fingers in the air. "Why does it feel so… strange?" she whispered, slowly making her way back to her room.
It didn't feel this way when I touched Shanks' arm… The rapid beat of her heart left her bewildered.
---
The next morning, soft light filled the room, and Luffy was roused by the warm sun filtering through his window. Standing up, he ran a hand over his chest, noting an odd sensation.
It felt… incomplete.
Glancing down at his body, he noticed that his shirt was missing, though his pants were still on. Luffy had a few different sleeping habits, depending on how comfortable he wanted to be, but he usually didn't fall asleep with only half his clothes on.
Did I even take a bath last night? He could only recall heading back to his room with Uta, but after that… everything was hazy.
He picked up his discarded shirt, taking a quick sniff. Yep, that's definitely yesterday's smell.
"Uta!"
He was sure of it now—he hadn't returned to his room alone last night. Uta must have helped him back to his bed.
She knocked me out!
Picturing the mischievous girl with her bunny-ear hair, Luffy clenched his fist. Just wait, Uta. I'll make sure you pay for this!
No one messes with the main character of a manga! In his mind, he imagined all sorts of payback scenarios—pulling on those bunny ears, scolding her like a teacher would.
Filled with determination, Luffy grabbed a fresh shirt and headed for the bath, mentally preparing his plans. He stood under the
warm shower with his eyes closed, letting the water run over him like the gentle brush of a girl's fingers.
