One Piece:I am King Luffy!

Chapter 121: Chapter 121: The Weight of Words

Nami and Nojiko entered Uta's dream world, captivated by its wonders. They could try on any new clothes they wanted, a rare treat. Unfortunately, they couldn't stay in the dream world for long—they had to help Bell-mère with her daily tasks in the real world.

The girls took care of the tangerine groves and a few small fields. Bell-mère, now focused on honing her cooking skills, was too busy to manage everything herself.

Over time, the villagers grew used to the new arrivals. The young girl, who sang beautifully, and the boy, who trained with his eyes closed, both became beloved fixtures in the village. The villagers even speculated that Luffy's odd training style might be one of Garp's secret techniques.

As the days passed and Arlong remained absent, Luffy managed to finally pull off his first Rankyaku—a powerful, high-speed kick that sent a shockwave through the air. Practicing in Uta's dream world, he watched as the force of his kick shot forward, creating a visible ripple in the distance.

"Finally got the Rankyaku down," he said with satisfaction, wiping sweat from his brow. "Guess I've earned myself a break!" He gave Uta a nod.

Uta gave an approving hum and closed the dream world. After cleaning up and changing, Luffy found Nami and asked, "Nami, could you show me the village bookstore? I want to pick up a few books."

Nami agreed, emerging from the tangerine grove in a simple white dress. She'd gone from her previous scrawny look to something with a bit more figure, thanks to Bell-mère's carefully crafted meals based on Navy recipes.

She handed Luffy a tangerine, which he happily accepted—he never turned down good fruit and could even appreciate the strong flavors of things like durian.

"Taking a day off from training?" she asked as they walked.

Luffy's body was usually under Uta's control in the dream world, so the real-world Luffy spent most of his time with his eyes closed, training or reading.

"I made some progress, so I'm rewarding myself with a break," he replied. "Besides, I've barely had a chance to see the village."

"That's 'cause you're always in your dream world!" she teased.

At the bookstore, Genzo immediately approached them. "Nami, you're here again?"

"What? I'm just showing Luffy around the bookstore, you stingy jerk!" she shot back, hands on her hips. "It's just a few books—there are tons here anyway!"

"Don't talk nonsense. Books aren't cheap," Genzo grunted, his windmill hat spinning gently as he watched her with pride.

Nami had changed a lot—she wore clean, new clothes, and her skin had a healthy glow. Genzo felt lucky to have introduced Luffy to Bell-mère; this visit had been a blessing for the village.

Nami seemed ready to argue further, but Luffy gently placed a hand on her shoulder, leading her into the bookstore. "Genzo's right. Knowledge isn't free."

Fiery and quick to react, Nami wanted to say more but held her tongue. She was smart enough to know better than to pick a fight with Luffy—her family's fortunes had taken a turn for the better since he arrived.

Facing the grandson of the Marine hero Garp filled her with complex emotions—admiration, respect, and maybe something else she couldn't quite put into words.

"So, Nami, what are you hoping to 'borrow' this time?" the bookstore owner teased, greeting Luffy with a friendly nod.

Nami huffed. Though she often "borrowed" books, she always paid for them in the end. Bell-mère would find a way to cover the cost, even though Nami thought she'd earned them fair and square.

"Do you have any books by William Gallon on physics?" Luffy asked the owner.

"We sure do."

Luffy nodded with satisfaction, zeroing in on the book he wanted. Then, he let his gaze wander around the shop.

Books here were wrapped and sealed, with only a few open for browsing. Navigation books were the most popular, essential in a world of seafarers and explorers.

Nami's eyes lingered longingly on the wrapped books. Without hesitation, Luffy picked one up and handed it to her.

"Pick out whatever you want. I'll buy it for you," he said, patting her shoulder.

"Why are you being so nice to me?" she asked, her face lighting up with curiosity. "Are you one of those people who likes sharing everything, like Uta?"

"Not exactly. Uta and I aren't the same," Luffy corrected her. "I'm pursuing something specific from you."

Nami looked puzzled. To her, their relationship seemed ordinary, maybe even a little one-sided. "What is it, then?"

"Joy, I guess," Luffy replied, picking up the William Gallon book and breaking the seal to start reading.

The shopkeeper looked like he wanted to say something but stopped, perhaps recognizing Garp's grandson and deciding to let it go.

"Joy?" Nami repeated.

"Yeah. I like admiring beautiful, interesting things. They make me happy, so I get something out of this too. Understand?"

"You mean… you think I'm beautiful?" Nami asked, her cheeks warming as she hugged the book to her chest.

Luffy nodded. "Yep."

"Oh…" She glanced at him, feeling a strange happiness at being complimented by someone so confident. Compliments from him were surprisingly charming.

She glanced at the book in his hands. "You really like physics?"

"No. I actually hate it. But I have to study it anyway," he replied.

"Then why bother?" she asked, frowning. "I study navigation because I love it. I do it because it makes me happy and brings me closer to my dream."

Nami mimicked his boldness, ripping open a book in the store and savoring the thrill of it. She didn't have to steal this time; she could read it right there.

"Because I'm going to be King. Even pain should bow to me," Luffy said, examining the author's name on the cover: William Gallon.

"I really like something he said once: 'Any whim of humanity's imagination… has the potential to become real.'"

"That's a nice thought, but what makes it different when he says it?" Nami asked, intrigued.

"Because when a physicist says it, those words carry infinite weight," Luffy answered, his eyes gleaming with a deep intensity.

"I have turned any whim of humanity's imagination… into reality." — William Gallon, Physicist.
