One Piece: The Emperor Luffy

Chapter 8: Ch 8 - Result

The vast ocean stretched out endlessly, its surface shimmering under the golden rays of the sun. Each rolling wave glistened like liquid crystal, dancing in a rhythmic embrace as they collided softly against the sides of a colossal battleship.

The vessel surged through the waters with power and purpose, cutting a determined path through the deep blue expanse. The sea breeze whistled, carrying the scent of salt and adventure, while the ship's hull groaned with the melody of motion, steady and relentless.

All across the deck, dozens of sailors moved with practiced precision, their movements swift and sure as they attended to their duties. The sound of ropes tightening, sails flapping, and boots thudding against the wooden planks blended with the soothing cadence of the ocean waves.

Sitting comfortably on a sturdy chair near the bow, Vice Admiral Garp leaned back with a carefree smile, a handful of senbei in his grasp. He crunched on the savory snacks gleefully, savoring each bite. Having shifted the task of training his mischievous grandson to his loyal subordinate Bogard, Garp took the time to relish these peaceful moments.

Reports of his grandson's progress reached him often, each one painting the picture of an exceptional prodigy—mastering basic techniques with a brilliance that surpassed even Garp's high expectations.

Almost a year had passed since he'd taken young Luffy under his wing, determined to shape him into a warrior. Guilt for years of absence lingered, but now, with each shared voyage and challenges overcome, Garp found solace in their time together.

Their journey was relentless; they traveled the breadth of the Four Seas and even ventured into the tumultuous Grand Line. On each expedition, Luffy faced fierce creatures of staggering might, honing his strength and his skills growing at an astonishing rate.

Yet even as the world was rocked by the infamous Fisher Tiger's daring assault on the Holy Land Mary Geoise—an act that set off waves of rebellion and hope—Garp's mission of nurturing Luffy continued, undisturbed.

When orders pulled him back to Marineford for urgent matters, Garp brought his grandson along, his presence concealed from prying eyes. He had yet to introduce Luffy to his friends or fellow officers and made sure Bogard kept the boy close, out of mischief's reach.

Duty completed with haste, Garp made an excuse to depart, determined to return Luffy to the safety of Foosha Village. He knew the spark of genius his grandson possessed, a rare light that he feared might draw unwanted attention. Years of loyal service had taught him too well the shadows that lurked behind the gleaming veneer of the World Government.

Garp wanted Luffy to pursue justice, to stand strong as he did—but never at the cost of becoming a pawn to corruption.

As the battleship cut through the rolling waves, the sun dipped low, casting a warm glow over the sea and tinting the sky with hues of amber and rose. It was a scene of rare beauty, the ship sailing forward, carrying a legendary hero and a boy with a boundless destiny.

"Garp-san, we'll be reaching the Goa Kingdom in about ten minutes," A sailor reported, standing at attention and saluting Garp.

"Oh, is it that time already?" Garp chuckled, scratching the back of his head before asking, "Where's the brat?"

"Mr. Luffy is still in the training room. Would you like me to call him?" The sailor inquired.

Garp's laughter boomed as he waved the idea away. "Bwahaha… no need for that. Carry on with your duties. I'll go find him myself."

"Yes, Sir!" The sailor saluted once more before returning to his post.

Finishing the last of his senbei by tipping the packet into his mouth, Garp chewed happily before springing to his feet. Stretching his arms with a content sigh, he made his way inside the ship, eager to see his grandson's progress firsthand.

Marines and sailors alike greeted him warmly as he passed, their expressions brimming with respect and admiration. Garp returned their salutes with a broad smile, embodying the easygoing nature that set him apart from many other high-ranking officers. He was more than just a vice admiral; he was a living legend, revered and trusted by those who served under him. And by extension, Luffy received similar warmth and support, with marines willing to assist in his training, guiding him earnestly as he developed his skills.

"Bwahaha… Hey, brat! Your grandpa's here!" Garp's hearty voice echoed as he flung open the door to the training room, only to be rendered speechless by what he saw.

Bang!

Boom!

Bang!

Two figures moved with blinding speed, weaving through the training room in an intense sparring session. One was Luffy, and the other, was Garp's dependable right-hand man, Bogard.

Their duel was anything but ordinary; it was a testament to the progress Luffy had made in just a year.

Garp's sharp eyes caught every movement, marveling at Luffy's mastery of Soru and Kami-e, advanced marine combat techniques. The boy's fists shimmered with the jet-black hue of Armament Haki as he traded blows with Bogard's unsheathed sword—a sight few could witness.

Garp knew Bogard's strength intimately; it was no small feat to push him to draw his blade, a challenge usually reserved for marine captains or higher.

The display confirmed what Garp had come to suspect: Luffy's growth was extraordinary. He had not only mastered core marine techniques but had awakened Observation and Armament Haki, developing them to an impressive level. The realization left Garp with a mix of pride and astonishment.

In that instant, Luffy's form blurred, disappearing so swiftly that it seemed as if he left an afterimage behind. Before Bogard could react, a powerful fist landed squarely on his midsection, sending him hurtling backward until he collided with the wall.

Tti-ring!

A melodic sound echoed in Luffy's mind, signaling a level-up. A grin spread across his youthful, yet determined face.

Meanwhile, Garp stood frozen, eyes wide as he processed what he had just witnessed. His grandson had surpassed the conventional limits of Soru's speed, a feat so remarkable that even with his own Observation Haki, Garp wasn't sure he could have evaded that strike.

'Status!'

Unaware of Garp's presence, Luffu opened his status panel.
