Chapter 91: Whitebeard and Kozuki Oden

The Moby Dick sailed slowly into the port under the watchful eyes of everyone present. Out of fear and respect for Whitebeard, many people put down whatever they were doing and turned their attention to the approaching ship.

It didn't take long for the Moby Dick to dock. Soon after, a group of people disembarked—tall, short, fat, thin, and some with bizarre appearances. There was no doubt that they were members of the Whitebeard Pirates.

Jon fixed his gaze on the group. At this point in time, the Whitebeard Pirates had not yet become one of the Four Emperors. Right now, they were still just a single main ship, led by Whitebeard himself and his crew.

"I wonder if the commanders and captains under Whitebeard have joined his crew yet…"

Jon speculated inwardly. Based on the timeline, many of the future commanders likely hadn't joined yet. As for the powerful allied captains, they probably weren't part of the crew at this stage either.

Although the Whitebeard Pirates were already famous, their current strength was not yet enough to pose a major threat to the Navy.

Only pirate fleets like Golden Lion's—expanding aggressively and recruiting pirates en masse—were considered true threats to the Navy.

From the perspective of the Navy's top brass, Golden Lion was their number one target for elimination, followed by Whitebeard's and Roger's pirate crews.

At this stage, the combat strength of the Whitebeard Pirates was probably on par with the Roger Pirates.

Jon had sharp eyesight, and he immediately spotted the man leading the Whitebeard Pirates.

A towering figure, long golden hair, a captain's hat, a white cape, and the signature crescent-shaped white mustache.

This was the captain of the Whitebeard Pirates—Edward "Whitebeard" Newgate—a man with the power of the Gura Gura no Mi (Tremor-Tremor Fruit) and one of the top three pirates ruling the seas at this time.

Following closely behind Whitebeard were his crewmates and his so-called "sons."

"Hey, Whitey-chan, I've found someone interesting. Are you interested?"

As Whitebeard walked, a voice suddenly came from behind him. He didn't even need to guess—there was only one person in the entire crew who dared to call him that.

Kozuki Oden!

Thinking of Kozuki Oden, Whitebeard couldn't help but feel sentimental.

Back when he passed by Wano, this guy shamelessly insisted on joining his crew.

Whitebeard had sensed Oden's incredible strength and willpower, and he believed that having someone like him in the crew might not be beneficial. He feared that Oden's presence could disrupt the balance of his pirate group—just like what had happened with the Rocks Pirates.

He had tried various ways to shake Oden off, but in the end, Oden passed his test, so Whitebeard finally took him away from Wano.

By now, Oden had been with the Whitebeard Pirates for about a year, and he had already integrated into the crew. However, unlike the others, he never called Whitebeard "Pops." Instead, he gave him a nickname.

Whitebeard knew how formidable Oden was. Hearing his words, he immediately asked,

"An interesting person? What's so interesting about them?"

Standing at nearly four meters tall, Oden grinned and said,

"His voice is interesting. It's different from everyone else's. He gives me a strange feeling."

"Oh? Is that so?"

Whitebeard raised an eyebrow in surprise. He knew that Oden possessed the unique ability to hear the Voice of All Things. Combined with his powerful Observation Haki, he could hear things that even Whitebeard himself couldn't perceive.

"Where is he?"

"Over there!"

Following Oden's pointing finger, Whitebeard scanned the crowd.

There were many people present, but one particular young man caught his attention.

"That one?"

"Yes, him. I can sense something unusual about him—he might be a powerful individual."

Whitebeard chuckled. "A young man, huh? Perfect."

With that, he changed direction and walked straight toward the young man, with the rest of the crew naturally following behind him.

Jon had been keeping an eye on the Whitebeard Pirates the entire time.

But suddenly—he noticed Whitebeard and his crew had changed direction and were heading straight toward him.

His heart immediately tensed.

"Shit!"

He cursed inwardly. He had been so curious about Whitebeard that he had focused all his attention on him—completely ignoring the risks.

True powerhouses had an incredibly keen sense of being watched. By staring at Whitebeard so intently, he had undoubtedly been noticed.

But what puzzled him was—so many people were watching Whitebeard, so why did they single him out specifically?

He didn't need to guess anymore. He could already feel several sharp gazes locked onto him.

Those gazes made him feel incredibly uncomfortable, almost as if they were forcing him to turn around and flee.

But Jon forcibly suppressed his urge to retreat. He took a deep breath—since he couldn't avoid it, he would have to face it head-on.

The two sides weren't far apart to begin with, so it didn't take long for Whitebeard's group to reach Jon's location.

Jon managed to stay composed, but Craig and the other regular people in his group were completely terrified. None of them could even muster the courage to speak.

Whitebeard ignored everyone else and kept his gaze fixed on Jon, studying him from head to toe. The longer he observed, the more his expression showed surprise.

"Kid, what's your name?"

Jon kept his face neutral and replied with a forced smile, "Josie."

It was an alias. A wanderer always needs a few fake names, and this was the one he had used with Craig and the others.

"Josie, huh?"

Whitebeard nodded, not particularly concerned about the name. Instead, he suddenly grinned and asked in a loud voice:

"Josie, how about joining my crew and becoming my son?"

"Huh?"

Jon was instantly stunned.

In that moment, a thousand thoughts raced through his mind.

He even considered the possibility that his true identity had been exposed.

But never in his wildest dreams had he expected Whitebeard to say this.

"What are you so shocked about? I'm asking you to join my crew. I'll make you famous across the seas."

Whitebeard repeated his offer.

Craig and the others were completely dumbfounded.

This was Whitebeard—one of the strongest pirates in the world!

A legendary figure like him was personally inviting Josie to join his crew. The sheer weight of this moment was overwhelming.

Jon was utterly caught off guard. Scratching his head awkwardly, he hesitantly asked,

"We don't even know each other, do we? You'd just let me join so casually?"

Whitebeard didn't seem to mind at all.

"Well, now we know each other, don't we? You're Josie, and I'm Whitebeard. You know that now too. If you join my crew, you won't regret it."

Jon's face twitched.

Damn it! I'm a Marine! If I join your crew, what the hell does that make me?!

Joining the Whitebeard Pirates was obviously impossible.

But looking at Whitebeard's crew, Jon felt uneasy—if he refused, would Whitebeard kill him?

"I'm just a regular guy who wants an ordinary life. I appreciate the offer, but… I'll have to decline."

Whitebeard's tiger-like eyes narrowed, his massive six-meter-tall frame exuding a terrifying aura.

Even without using Conqueror's Haki, his sheer presence alone sent chills down Craig and the others' spines.

"My crewmate sensed something special about you. That's why I came. Standing before me, completely composed—that alone proves you're no ordinary man."

"Oden says your voice is different from others."

"So, stop pretending."

"Now—yes or no?"
