Chapter 4: 04 The Real ‘Pirates’
As they boarded the warship, a middle-aged man in a cloak of justice approached. He had a mohawk, wore a suit, and carried a long sword at his waist, giving off an intimidating presence.
"I heard it's an honor to work with you, Teacher Zephyr"
Seeing the visitor, Zephyr also showed a smile:
"Momonga, congratulations on your promotion to Rear Admiral."
"Where I am today is all thanks to your teachings, Teacher."
After exchanging a few pleasantries, Momonga looked at the three people behind Zephyr and asked, "Teacher, who are they?"
"Oh, I'm taking them for some real training,"
Zephyr explained. Momonga nodded in acknowledgment and refrained from further inquiry.
As the warship raised its sails and set sail, Lynch felt a sense of awe wash over him.
Even though he'd been on warships before, the sight never failed to impress him.
Looking out at the vast sea stretching before him, he felt a stirring of ambition in his chest, a yearning for adventure and opportunity.
…
The time at sea passed peacefully, as no one dared to challenge a Marine warship recklessly.
Before Lynch realized it, three hours had slipped by.
Approaching the place, Zephyr and Momonga stopped chatting, and the atmosphere on the warship gradually became heavy.
"Rear Admiral, we will reach our destination in fifteen minutes"
The soldier came to report.
Momonga placed his hand on the sword at his waist and commanded, "Prepare for battle!"
"Yes, sir!"
The sea breeze carried the scent of gunpowder as soldiers loaded their flintlock muskets.
Lynch took the opportunity to find the soldier who had reported to Momonga.
When he returned, he had a flintlock pistol tucked into his waistband.
"Fire, such a big fire!"
The flames illuminated the night sky, turning it a blood-red hue.
As the warship docked, screams and wails filled the air, including those from women and children.
It had only been less than four hours since receiving the report and arriving at this place, and the place had already turned into a hell.
"These beasts!"
Momonga drew his sword and commanded coldly: "Enter the village and rescue the people. If you encounter pirates, kill them without mercy!"
"Boom!"
Before Momonga could finish his words, a loud bang echoed as Zephyr shot forward like a cannonball, blasting a two-meter-wide hole in the deck.
Lynch and Hina followed closely behind, using Moonwalk to quickly approach the village.
Blood, there was blood and corpses scattered everywhere, and the ferocious and abominable faces of the pirates were illuminated by the fierce fire.
"What the hell, why are there still a few old guys hiding here?"
A drunken pirate dragged two trembling old men out of the wine cellar and mercilessly severed their heads with a sword.
The heads fall to the ground with a thud, fear etched on their lifeless faces.
"Get lost, brat, you've ruined my mood!"
A passing pirate callously crushed a young child lying beside his dead father with a hammer, silencing the child's cries forever.
"Hey, hahaha, look what I found, a pretty woman!"
The pirate smiled lewdly and pushed the woman onto the straw mat, and while she fought desperately to break free.
"No! Please...please let me go," she begged.
"You stinky bitch, be honest with us. If you make me feel better, maybe we'll spare your life"
Another pirate sneered, violently tearing open her skirt.
"Bang!"
A gunshot echoed, and the pirate fell instantly with a gaping hole in his head.
Lynch swiftly reloaded his flintlock gun with another lead bullet as he hovered in the air.
"Got him."
Lynch seemed to have expected it and was not surprised.
Those three months he dedicated to learning firearms in his Marine training now proved their worth.
It was a necessary choice. Lynch knew his limitations in physical skills. After careful consideration, he realized that mastering marksmanship would offer him a safer path in the beginning for him
And it seems he had a talent for it.
Hina ducked behind another pirate, stabbed him to the heart with a long sword, and saved the woman.
"Don't be scared. You're safe now with us."
Hina comforted her gently.
"You... Marine?"
The woman, tears streaming down her face, revealed her face hidden behind her long messy hair.
"It's us. Get out of the village quickly. Our reinforcements are on their way."
Bang bang~
After killing two more pirates with his flintlock, Lynch dropped to the ground, retrieving his sword from his waist. Sustaining Moonwalk constantly was taking its toll on his stamina.
With the arrival of two hundred Marines, the pirates finally realized something was wrong.
"It's Marine, Marine is here!"
"Kill them all!"
This group of pirates was indeed ferocious. Their initial response upon encountering the Marines wasn't to flee, but to try to eliminate their opponents.
Seeing four sword-wielding pirates surrounding him, Lynch whispered, "Shave!"
He transformed into a bolt of lightning, swiftly breaking through the siege, and in an instant, he stood before one of the pirates, piercing his heart with a swift sword thrust.
"Bang!"
"Watch out!"
Hina swiftly shielded herself behind Lynch as a gunshot rang out. Her longsword intercepted something, deflecting it to the side.
"Thanks,"
Lynch sincerely expressed his gratitude.
Facing skilled opponents among the pirates, they managed to catch him off guard and shoot him using brief moment of stiffness after using shave
As the gunshot pierced the air, Lynch felt a prickling sensation at the back of his head—a sign of awakening to Observation Haki.
But without Hina, he wasn't sure whether he could escape that gunshot.
"Hmph~ Hina can help you once, but not every time, so be careful," Hina's voice echoed, her tone both reassuring and cautionary.
"It's Captain Youle, Captain Youle!"
The surrounding pirates erupted in excitement, their voices carrying a mix of fear and admiration.
The man on the roof scowled, retracting his sniper rifle. His attempt to eliminate the boy using his skills had failed.
Just then, an iron hand came rushing from the side, thrown by Smoker, who had followed the sound of the gunshot.
"Tch, another brat,"
Youle scoffed dismissively. He didn't take Smoker seriously, believing that this young Marine, who hadn't even awakened Haki, couldn't land a hit on him even if he tried.
As expected, Smoker was quickly overpowered after just a few exchanges.
If the man had wielded a sword instead of a gun, Smoker might not have stood a chance.
Fortunately, Momonga arrived just in time to intercept Youle, blocking Smoker from a killing blow.
"Go somewhere else, leave it to me here."
Smoker looked at Youle unwillingly, clasped his hands and left without saying a word.
Having learned his lesson, Lynch choose for caution and refrained from using the newly learned shave technique recklessly. Instead, he utilized Moonwalk to gracefully walk in the skies.
Bang~
Another pirate died by Lynch's gun.
The remaining pirates could only watch helplessly as Lynch remained out of their reach. Frustrated, they cursed their inability to reach him, feeling like Buddha ascending while they were left behind on Earth.
Mastering Marine Six Styles is a feat reserved for the elite in the Marines, a league these pirates, lacking even Marine status, could never hope to reach.
"Which one of you can shoot him down for me!"
The pirate shouted angrily.
