Chapter 40: A Surprising Turn
Chapter 40: A Surprising Turn
Inside a bar that had long been closed, a man sat in a dimly lit corner, his figure barely visible. Surrounding him were pirates in varied outfits, armed with different weapons. Soon, a figure opened the door and quickly approached the man. It was the captain who had been chasing the thief earlier that day.
"Alfie, how did it go?" the captain asked.
Alfie responded quickly, "Captain, the person has been dealt with. The information has not been leaked. Tomorrow, I will withdraw all the troops from the area."
"Good."
The man exclaimed with enthusiasm and then stepped out of the shadows. He wore a golden crown and a noble red cape. This man was Vanka Saitwa, the captain of the Vanka Saitwa pirate crew.
His eyes burned with excitement as he said, "Go!"
Alfie silently nodded and left quickly.
After Alfie left, Saitwa had a cold look and a troubled mind. He, Vanka Saitwa, was the true master of this island, the real king of this kingdom.
The next day.
In the magnificent Great Raviesan Hall, a medical exchange conference was being held. The hall was packed with people, constantly engaged in discussions. Circular tiers surrounded the large central podium, allowing everyone a clear view of the stage from any position.
"Charlotte, this place is incredible! So many doctors gathered on this island!" Gillian exclaimed, unable to contain her excitement.
"That's Dr. Vitis!" "Look, that's Dr. Doria!"
Charlotte sighed deeply, feeling helpless in the face of Gillian's excitement and bright-eyed enthusiasm.
In truth, Charlotte was also amazed. The event had drawn thousands of people, making it a grand occasion. There were local doctors, students from other places, and many island residents. It was a rare event indeed!
He couldn't deny the incredible pulling power of Dr. Lyle; it was truly astounding. The place was filled with voices and excitement, with many doctors conversing, waiting, and discussing various topics.
Suddenly, the lights flickered, and the host's voice echoed.
"Thank you all for attending the medical exchange conference. Now, let's await the arrival of Dr. Lyle together."
As Lyle's name was mentioned, the place erupted in cheers, with many shouting at the top of their lungs.
"Lyle!" "Lyle!" "Lyle!"
Charlotte was taken aback by the exaggeration. Soon, the lights focused in one direction, and a figure with glasses slowly walked towards the stage. It was Dr. Lyle. The cheers grew even louder.
As he reached the stage, his magnetic voice began to resonate.
"Hello everyone, I am Lyle."
The fans became even more excited.
"It is an honor to be here with you at this medical exchange conference..." He paused, then continued in a changed tone. "Today, I have decided to establish a Medical Association, of which I will be the president."
The place buzzed with whispers; Lyle's decision had surprised everyone. Lyle didn't stop and continued speaking.
"Our sole aim is to save more lives."
Many in the audience were moved by such a noble ideal.
"Ha, ha, ha, ha!" A loud, untimely laugh interrupted the growing enthusiasm of the place. Suddenly, a group of armed pirates burst in, causing chaos.
"Pirates!" "How can there be pirates here?" "Captain Alfie, why are you with the pirates?!"
The appearance of the pirates sent the crowd into a panic. Charlotte frowned; this couldn't be real, pirates here too! What bad luck! Villains couldn't be absent, could they?
"Charlotte..." Gillian looked at Charlotte nervously. "Stay calm, let's observe the situation."
Gillian nodded and calmed down. Charlotte didn't know if the guards and pirates had another plan. So, in this uncertain situation, he didn't act rashly. Any mistake could increase his bounty. Just thinking about it made him a little sad.
The pirates fired into the air to intimidate the crowd, who stayed still out of fear. After the pirates controlled the situation, Saitwa appeared slowly. From the stage, Lyle looked at the newcomer with astonishment, "How can it be you?"
Saitwa laughed heartily, "What's wrong, Lyle, are you surprised?"
Then, coldly, he said, "I, Vanka Saitwa, am the true king of this country, the true ruler of this kingdom."
Lyle instinctively clenched his fists. Many island residents recognized Saitwa, their eyes filled with anger.
"Saitwa, damn it, why have you come back?" "Damn Saitwa, you're not welcome here, get out!" "You're a heartless bastard."
The crowd was furious, making it clear that Saitwa was not a good person. Saitwa was angry, but for his plan, he held back his rage. He shouted, "Fools, you don't know what Lyle has done! Look at his true face!"
At these words, everyone looked at each other, not understanding. What did that mean? Lyle looked at Saitwa with a pale face. Saitwa continued with a snort, "Lyle, you are the true fraud, a great impostor who has deceived everyone."
An impostor? The people were completely perplexed. Charlotte was surprised; what was happening here? An unexpected twist?
"Let me reveal your hypocrisy." "The disease outbreak that left the doctors of Ratti Island helpless was a big lie you created." "It was a horrible virus you invented and spread to cure them later, just to gain power in this kingdom."
Saitwa's words dropped like a bomb, leaving everyone stunned.
"No, that can't be." "Yes, it's impossible, Dr. Lyle saved my daughter for free." "Saitwa, you're lying, this is slander."
Saitwa looked at the incredulous crowd with contempt. "Am I lying? Then see the documents found in Lyle's laboratory, see if I'm lying."
The pirates scattered copies of the documents. Many picked them up, and their faces changed as they read them. On the stage, Lyle wobbled and leaned on the podium.
"How about that, great impostor Lyle? Those documents were found in your laboratory, and that's your handwriting."
"Ha, ha, ha, ha!" Saitwa laughed enthusiastically, releasing the humiliation of being expelled. He wanted Lyle to feel the same pain. He was the true king of this country.
Charlotte watched everything, feeling completely astonished. This scandal was enormous. A famous doctor turned out to be a great impostor.
