A bounty hunter

"Gibbs… tell me do you know about devil fruits ?" Jack asked the young man in a casual tone. Ever since he has learnt about the rule that he cannot eat a devil fruit at any cost, Jack has been curious about such a fruit. He was looking for someone who could give him some general information about the world he was currently in. And since a devil fruit was something that grants special Powers, Jack was sure that many people must have knowledge about it. So he considered it as the base level question before his other questions.

On the other hand, Gibbs looked at Jack carefully. Being chained in sea prism stone chains, Gibbs knew that he was even weaker than the normal people beside him. And since he was a devil fruit user, he didn't know if the young boy in front of him was targeting him specifically or if just genuinely curious. At first glance, the young man in front of him didn't look like a genuine threat. With his large fur coat, baggy pants and oversized hat, Jack's appearance was somewhat comical. If not for seeing him killing their guard in his own eyes, Gibbs wouldn't have considered him any threat. So after knowing that the boy who looked no older than 14 or 15 was a genuine threat, Gibbs decided to act cautiously.

"Devil fruits are also called myths by many people in the blues. But their appearance is not uncommon in the grand line. These mythical fruits are also known for their bad taste. Devil Fruits are supernatural fruits that are scattered throughout the world. Any living being who eats one will gain a unique ability at the cost of becoming weakened in bodies of water, resulting in them losing the ability to swim. That's why people also say that those who eat devil fruit get cursed by the sea and always get haunted when they touch the water.

Devil Fruits are classified into three types. Paramecia, Zoan and Logia fruits. But I don't know much about these detailed classifications. But the logia types are the rarest and are called the most powerful type of devil fruit. Each fruit is also given a name based on the power it grants and has a unique appearance.

That's all I know about devil fruits." Gibbs explained everything new about devil fruits.

"Hmmm…that's some detailed explanation. Gibbs, join my pirate crew." Jack said confidently.

"Why should I join your crew ? I am a Bounty hunter. Why should I become a pirate ?" Gibbs asked the young boy in front of him, looking into his eyes. He knew that he was risking his life. But he didn't like backing down like that unless his life was seriously on the line.

Hearing his question, a bright smile appeared on Jack's face.

"Let me introduce myself. I am the great captain Jack D Sparrow."

"Do you even have a bounty ? I never heard of you ?" Gibbs asked with a deadpan expression.

"...." Jack didn't say anything and started unlocking the cage. Then he freed every other slave in the cage except for himself.

"Run away folks. But don't worry, take the black ship docked near this ship. Otherwise your condition will be like this." Jack threatened the already scared people pointing at the dead guard.

Then he turned around and started leaving the place, taking all the keys with him.

"Hey kid ! What about me ?" Gibbs, seeing the situation, greeted his teeth and called out to Jack.

"Are you calling me, perhaps ?" Jack stopped in his tracks and asked Gibbs.

"Yes, I am talking to you ! Why are you leaving me like this ?" Gibbs asked worriedly.

"Gentleman, the last time I asked you to join my crew, you refused. I don't want to praise you but you look really strong. Since you refused to join my crew, I don't know what you will do to me once I free you. So isn't it wise for me to just leave you here ? The ship is not drowning. So I am sure that you can survive at least a couple of days without food or water. And if you get lucky, someone might even come here to rescue you." Jack said to Gibbs without turning back. And then headed towards the states.

But just as he was halfway through, Gibbs called him back.

"Fine, I will join your crew !"

A smile bigger than before appeared on Jack's face.

Turning around, he walked back to the cage from which all of the people were gone, except from Gibbs.

"Was it that hard ?" Jack smirked as he unlocked the locks around Gibbs. Compared to other people, who were only handcuffed and had some kind of collar around their neck, Gibbs was heavily chained down with his movements restrained. And Jack understood what that meant. Gibbs was someone powerful enough that the crew had to take some extra contingency measures for the guy. Since Jack was also searching for some strong and knowledgeable people to become his crew mate, he had immediately chosen Gibbs for the role.

"Now follow me, big guy ! A grand adventure is waiting for us." Jack said as he walked back to the stairs. But just as he was about to climb the staircase, his drunken senses warned him about an incoming attack.

Since Jack didn't know what the power of observation haki is called, he has chosen the name, drunken sense by himself. Unlike the drunken attack enhancement or armament haki, Jack could use his drunken sense without getting drunk. And that saved his life.

Immediately jumping to the side, Jack was shocked to see multiple massive nails appearing in the place where he was just a moment ago out of nowhere. He couldn't understand what just happened. So turning around, he saw Gibbs holding more smaller nails in his hand.
