One Piece: I wield thunder and lightning

Chapter 614: The Value of Life!!!

Hearing the words of that Celestial Dragon, even Ben Beckman was stunned. The cigarette that had been hanging from his mouth fell to the ground as his jaw dropped in shock from the astonishing news.

The entire battlefield fell into silence as the pig-like Celestial Dragon shouted loudly.

Even on the side of the Celestial Dragons, only a dozen or so people seemed to know the truth, while the others were completely bewildered. They obviously had no idea that among them was the biological father of the infamous Yonko, Red-Haired Shanks.

On the side of the Red-Haired Pirates, the shock was even more profound. Not even being hit by Conqueror's Haki could compare to the mental impact they felt at this moment.

That fat pig of a guy is actually their boss's father!?

That's not a joke, right?

"Shanks…"

Ben Beckman looked at Shanks with some concern.

To them, although they were on opposing sides in this battle and being a Yonko naturally came with a bad reputation, he clearly didn't want the stigma of patricide attached to Shanks's name.

"Beckman, don't worry, I'm fine."

Sensing Beckman's concern, Shanks reassured him. He knew he had to make his stance clear, or the morale of his comrades, which could be affected by this revelation, might suffer heavily.

"Did you think pushing this guy forward would stop me? How naive."

As his words fell, Shanks attacked without hesitation.

...

"These guys are really persistent, huh?"

Fujitora opened his eyes slightly and looked ahead. In front of him were hundreds of world government agents dressed in CP uniforms.

At this moment, they were all pinned to the ground, unable to move under the crushing gravity field that had descended upon them.

"For such stubborn individuals, the best solution is to send them to meet the Reaper."

As Kizaru's cold voice rang out, beams of laser instantly pierced through the foreheads of those immobilized CP agents.

As blood gushed from their pierced foreheads, the gravity that had been pressing down on them silently lifted.

Fujitora sheathed his sword again. His Observation Haki could clearly sense the life force draining from the CP agents, as well as the deathly atmosphere enveloping the entire Mary Geoise due to the ongoing war.

"Sigh, they could have survived. Why did they insist on defending the Celestial Dragons and the World Government even in death?"

"It's simple. They're beneficiaries. To them, you and I are disruptors of their vested interests. Moreover, these people were mostly raised by the World Government since childhood. In their worldview, the government's orders are absolute, and they'll follow them even at the cost of their lives."

Kizaru kicked away a CP agent who had leapt out from the shadows, sending him flying into a collapsing building, and spoke casually.

Hearing Kizaru's words, Fujitora fell into silence.

He then turned his head to "look" towards the fierce battle in the distant sky.

Although his eyes reflected nothing, his Observation Haki, which could discern human emotions, allowed him to see more clearly than anyone else.

Indeed, the future this war ultimately chooses...

depends on the outcome between Nicholas and Imu, doesn't it?

Neither the main forces of the Nicholas Pirates, the elite troops of the Revolutionary Army, the Holy Land's guards, the Celestial Dragons' strongest spear and shield, nor the countless others caught up in this upheaval...

None of them could intervene in the battle between Nicholas and Imu.

"End it quickly, Nicholas."

Fujitora's eyes, showing a hint of whites, stared at the terrifying clashes in the distant sky.

For Fujitora, his ideals were grand, but he knew that his character wasn't enough to achieve them.

He knew the Shichibukai system needed to be abolished and that pirates brought nothing but chaos to the world.

But what would happen to the seas after abolishing the Shichibukai system? He had no answer. He knew the existence of pirates was harmful, yet he couldn't come up with an effective solution.

His ideals were lofty, but reality was harsh.

So, in the end, he placed his hope in Nicholas.

Why, you ask?

Maybe because Nicholas was special.

The first time they met, he felt a sense of incompatibility from Nicholas towards this world, and he wanted to see what changes Nicholas would bring to this stagnant world.

While Fujitora was lost in thought, a figure leapt from the top of a nearby building, a blade aimed directly at him.

"There are pests everywhere, huh."

Kizaru said, raising his hand to eliminate the attacker.

But to his surprise, Fujitora stopped him with a hand on his arm.

Perplexed, Kizaru looked at Fujitora, quickly understanding his old colleague's intent.

"If that's the case, I'll leave it to you. But showing mercy on the battlefield is never a good idea, Fujitora."

Kizaru said meaningfully, then withdrew his hand and put it back in his pocket.

After Kizaru stepped back, Fujitora "looked" at the attacker.

As the attack came closer, he sidestepped, raised his hand, and with one hand, pressed the attacker's back, slamming them to the ground.

With the impact, the attacker made close contact with the ground, their CP mask falling off to the side, revealing a youthful face full of hatred.

Seeing the restrained young CP agent, Kizaru made no move, merely standing there like a silent observer, waiting for the outcome.

"Has the World Government come to the point where they send children into battle..."

Fujitora sighed inwardly.

Seeing his thoughts, Kizaru teased, "A prodigy like Lucci, huh? Joining CP at such a young age."

"You rebellious traitors! Let me go!"

The pinned-down CP agent glared at the two, shouting angrily.

"Ko-wa-i-ne, such a young girl. If you grow up pretty, you might become a plaything for some Celestial Dragon. After all, dominating strong women satisfies those pigs."

"You traitors dare insult the Celestial Dragons!"

Hearing Kizaru refer to the Celestial Dragons as pigs, the girl under Fujitora's control snapped.

"Oh, angry now? But what can you do in your powerless state?"

Kizaru looked at her with a mocking smile.

"Huuh, tui—!"

She spat at Kizaru, but he easily dodged.

"Looks like there's no choice then."

Fujitora's eyes flickered slightly.

He drew his sword and aimed at the girl's head.

As the gleaming blade tip neared her forehead, the young CP agent's mind went blank.

A moment later, the expected death didn't come. The sharp tip stopped just short of her forehead.

"Leave. Life is precious; you only get one."

As his words fell, Fujitora slowly stood up. The war wasn't over yet, and these hands still needed to continue killing.
