One Piece: I Understand It Now

Chapter 9: Jump in!

Chapter 9: Jump in!

After a minute of contemplation, the crew members who were feeling too heavy-hearted after watching the fate of their comrade watched as one of them couldn't give a damn anymore and jumped right in.

"Continue contemplating, bunch of bastards. I ain't missing out on free treasures." He said right before jumping in.

And just like that, a not so unexpected scene played out where one after another, all crew members jumped with no hesitation, laughing and shouting with no care anymore.

"Haha, what a fucked up world this is." Ken, who had already joined up with the crew after a while, smiled to himself while jumping.

He had witnessed everything, and he had to say this was not the worst he had seen people do.

*Pshk* *Plop* *Dff*

One after another, the crewmen reached the ground and looked around them.

In a split second...

"Hahahahaha, we're rich; we're goddamn rich."

Who would have thought? Who would have thought that just the first floor had so many treasures running around?

it had to be said that all of these men had seen a hill of gold every time they went to the treasury, aside from the fact that the gold in here was countless times bigger in quantity. The one in the Treasury wasn't theirs.

And aside from gold, there were also the treasures. treasures that appealed to everybody but a few. The high-ranking men and Ken.

The first group because they had seen better and knew better, and the young man because this wasn't what he needed.

Not to mention...

'There's no way we're the first to find this, so why is it that no one cleared this up or was here?'

This just meant that there are unknown dangers, or in all cases, something wrong.

This specific ocean was difficult to travel in due to there being no wind or current, and it was full of sea kings.

Though this makes it a perfect place for hidden islands and treasures, it meant that if one didn't have the proper equipment, they couldn't easily travel around here.

This was why treasures were abundant.

not to mention that it was neither possible nor worth it to wait all year round to get a bit of gold and treasures every time for anyone capable of getting here.

and although this was all unknown to Ken, he was still in no need of gold. Though he could take a bit, that would be after he actually finds what he's looking for.

A treasure to leave the island, which meant a boat capable of traversing this dangerous sea at high speed as anything less than that means our young man would be devoured by a sea king somewhere.

Thus, in the unfortunate case where he doesn't find what he's looking for...

'I'd have to go back to the ship, and that might just mean staying there forever.'

Indeed, most of the crew members who were in rotation don't leave the ship, and some cursed members never had the chance to leave due to them always being in rotation when the ship arrives somewhere.

and this would likely be Ken's case if things don't go as planned.

'Anyway.' He thought as he looked around.

'It's time for me to move.' Leaving the rest of the unambitious crew behind he looked forward and walked.

There was almost no light in this part of the hole; barely any sunlight made it through, and so it was hard to see in front of you, especially if you were looking for entrances.

But in a split second, Ken's eyes started to see so clearly he inconsciously looked up to see if the sun fell down.

It felt so weird as one second he couldn't see anything and the other everything was as clear as day, but upon contemplating, it was just one of his fruit's abilities.

'I'm more and more inclined to believe that this fruit is focused on adaptation.' Getting closer to the truth, Ken looked forward with renewed vigor, as with his clear vision, he could easily see pathways all around the cave.

One on each side for a total of 4, wherever one was, they could reach it.

Entering the closest door to him that was also not the one the high-ranking members entered, Ken's eyes landed on a few corpses around the room and then at the outline of the door.

"Well damn..." He said. From what he could deduce with this little information, it turned out that the door could close at anytime, and if he used a bit more of his brain, it might be that the doors open and close with the fog.

Thus...

'If I were to be late, I will be stuck here for an entire year...'

No food, no water, just him and a long corridor of treasures and ancient engravings.

With no light to decorate the long pathway, Ken only had his useful eyes to rely on and walked with a clear goal.

'Find a boat and leave at once.'
