One Piece: I Understand It Now

Chapter 2: The Colossal Ship!

Chapter 2: The Colossal Ship!

Had it been days, weeks, or months? Ken couldn't remember as he got used to this life of hiding.

The room was large, and the guards only guarded the interior and rarely if ever bothered to check around; thus, the young man wasn't in any big danger.

And to his fortune, or misfortune, he came to know of many things. Such as where the pirate crew was headed, where they were currently, what's the latest news of the world, and just what the heck it was.

'There's no mistaking it; this is the one and only world of One Piece.' When he came across this information, he couldn't believe it; he was helplessly staring at the darkness of his hiding spot, not able to take in any more information.

That's right, Ken has somehow, one way or another, reincarnated inside of the world of One Piece, and what's worse was that this was barely a year or so after the Pirate King Roger has died and the main story has yet to start.

"One thing remains clear: I should in no way, shape or form, mess with the story line." He thought to himself then.

Whatever happens, if he were to carelessly affect the story or the important characters, it might just lead to something happening to Luffy and the others, and this world could go down a series of mayhem for all he knew.

There was a possibility of that not happening, but he couldn't play it off; he had to be cautious; he had to calculate his every move, or his dream and goal might be affected and get farther away than they are now.

"Whatever it may be... I need strength." Now that he knew what this world was all about, he knew what he needed.

He knew that there were countless ways to gain strength in here. Coming from Earth, even though he was one of the losers who thought that One Piece was too long and didn't bother to watch it from the beginning to the end, he was still very knowledgeable of such a masterpiece.

He knew about the power system, about the plot line, and overall, he knew just about everything he needed to not be taken by surprise. The major events, the characters, the deaths, the powers, and even the dos and donts.

"Now, there are many ways to gain power, but the easiest surely is..." His eyes went towards the small chest on top of the golden hill.

He was a human, and thus his curiosity knew no bounds. Just 7 nights after he came out of the container, he climbed to the top and checked what was inside, and...

"Should I or should I not?" The reason why he waited 7 whole days to climb up and check the chest was due to a lot of reasons, but mainly because the guards only change after a week, and those 5 or so minutes of freedom were all he could use to check it.

It was a devil fruit. A gray silver fruit that resembled his own eyes, an endless swirl of grey abyss that held unfathomable potential.

No fruit from his knowledge resembled this one, and just the fact that it was here in this treasury and not somewhere else made him doubt himself to no end. It isn't possible that something of this calibre could only be given so much security.

But little by little he knew.

He knew, and that also made him more aware of the fact that the chances of his ever getting out of this hole were close to 0.

It was so close to 0, the young man was ready to give up and just live the rest of his life here.

The two guards who were stationed here were nothing but 2 of 50.

Each room and each corridor had constant patrols, and for him to leave was an impossibility. It was literally so.

He had his own plans, but they only made him sit, as he never felt prepared enough.

These guards were powerful; he knew that much, as the life he led until now wasn't simple, and the suffocating air around those two made him sometimes wake from his sleep and doubt that they were already aware of his presence.

That's why he gave up on the only way to get out of here. While he only needed to deal with one guard to secure his escape, that in itself was too hard for him.

Thus... he had to do it.

He had to take the risk and do it.

'I will act the next time they leave to rotate.' he thought to himself.

"Meanwhile... I will restructure my plan and what I know so far."

His plan was close to perfect. After all, the whole pirate crew didn't know how the others looked. They wore black robes with a red suit and grey gloves. And their faces were hidden by the same mask.

So if he were to get rid of one while the other goes to the toilet, no one would now.

'From that, they were saying they're currently headed towards a small island that's rumored to hold lost technology, right? If that's true, then if my plan works, I could join them.' He thought to himself.

The crew would arrive in two weeks, and that's more than enough for him.

"I wonder what the current state of the world is right now." He thought.

The legends of the original timeline were nothing but children and ambitious young men, so by the time Luffy is born and he starts his journey...

"I wonder what I would become by then."
