East Blue – Conomi Islands
Genzo then leads them to Bell-mère's grave and says, as he takes and opens a bottle of alcohol, pouring its contents over the wooden cross, and shares the drink with his friend: "I thought Bell-mère would like to hear from you, Nami."
With a gentle smile on her face, Nami walks to the grave and sits down in front of it before starting to speak, "Hi, Mom. I know it's been a long time since I came here to talk to you, but a lot has happened since then. I met this childish idiot wearing a straw hat who has a dream as grand as mine. As soon as he found out I was a navigator, he decided on his own, without even asking my opinion, that I was part of his pirate crew. I even tried to say no, but he insisted so much that I ended up accepting. But if you think about it, this idiot is special. His charisma is so strong that even this flawed recruitment method works every time. He's already gathered a crew of strange and misfit people."
"Our team consists of a drunken swordsman who can't walk in a straight line without getting lost, a perverted cook, a liar with a long nose who can change size, a rich and kind girl who wants to be a doctor, a cute dog who transforms into a giant white wolf, a boy with a straw hat who stretches and is extremely powerful, me and, believe it or not, Nojiko also joined the team", Nami says with a happy smile, thinking about the misfit team with big dreams that she is a part of.
"Wow, wow, that I didn't know. Nojiko joined too? When?", Genzo asks, surprised.
"Pretty much as soon as Luffy found out she was my sister and that we both missed each other, he used that same method of adding her to the crew without asking her opinion and refusing to take no for an answer until you inevitably just accept your fate", Nami explains how Nojiko joined the crew.
"Shishishishi, what's important is that it works", Luffy says with a smile.
"Well, Mom, it's over. Our suffering is over. The Arlong Pirates were defeated by my crew, and they won't make our island suffer anymore. And on another note, this idiot captain of mine is so charismatic and amazing that I ended up falling in love with him, and now we're dating, and we've already had our first time", says Nami, beaming with happiness for finally being able to tell her mother that her suffering and everyone else's is over.
"Too much information, Nami, too much information. You really didn't need to give so many details", Genzo says, embarrassed by the lack of discretion.
"Well, it's a mother-daughter conversation. You're the one being nosy and listening", Nami says, sticking her tongue out at Genzo.
"And that's it, Mom. I want you to know that Nojiko and I won't be coming back here for a long time. I'm going to fulfill my dream, my idiot boyfriend's dream, and the dreams of my strange crew, and Nojiko will help. So, when we come back here, we'll both have crazy stories to tell", Nami says, smiling sadly as she touches the grass in front of the grave with her hand.
"Hey, Nami, would you mind leaving me alone with this brat for a bit?", Genzo asks calmly.
"Sure, just don't kill him. I'm done updating Mom on the news anyway", Nami says, getting up, kissing Luffy on the cheek, and walking away.
"I just wanted to warn you, kid, that no matter how strong you are or will become, if you ever take that smile off the faces of those two sisters, I swear I'll kill you", Genzo says, staring intensely at Luffy.
"Don't worry, old man", Luffy replies seriously.
"Good. Glad we understand each other. Now let's head back to the party", Genzo says, starting to walk back the way they came.
"Ah, I'll stay a bit longer. I want to talk to Nami and Nojiko's mom", Luffy says with a smile.
Genzo just nods in acknowledgment and heads back to the party.
Luffy then sits down in front of the grave and starts saying, "Hi, Auntie, my name is Monkey D. Luffy, and I'm going to become the King of the Pirates. I love your daughter Nami, and we're dating. I promise to take care of her and Nojiko too. And in case you haven't noticed, I'm kind of kidnapping your daughters to become pirates with me. But don't worry, I won't let anyone hurt Nami and Nojiko because, for my friends, I would turn the world upside down without hesitation. So you can tire yourself out in peace... hmm... no, I think I said it wrong... uhh... shit in peace?... no... dance in... plant in peace... sing in-"
"It's 'rest in peace', brat", Luffy suddenly hears a somewhat ethereal female voice from beside him.
Looking to the side, Luffy sees the semi-transparent figure of Bell-mère leaning against the trunk of a nearby tree.
"Huh, weird. Weren't you dead?", Luffy asks, confused.
"I'm still very much dead. You're the weird one here. Seeing and hearing dead people isn't exactly common, I believe", Bell-mère says, shrugging.
"Well, another cool power to add to the list, I guess. It's probably the voice of all things that lets me do this", Luffy says, thinking his new ability is cool.
"Well, whatever that is, it's allowing my soul to interact with the physical world", Bell-mère says, not caring much about the name of Luffy's ability.
"Do you think you could talk to Nami and Nojiko this way? I'm sure they'd love that", Luffy asks hopefully.
"I don't think so, kid. I feel like any interference and I'll be pulled back. By the way, what's this about you dating my daughter and kidnapping both of them to become pirates?", Bell-mère asks, irritated.
"Bleh! Nami and I love each other, and not even a grumpy old woman will separate us. Besides, I'm going to become the King of the Pirates, so logically, we'll be pirates", Luffy says, sticking his tongue out at her.
"Ugh, you cheeky brat. You better take care of my girls, or when you die, I'll beat the crap out of you so bad you'll wish you were dead even though you already are," Bell-mère says, trying to karate chop Luffy's head, only to go through him as if he were intangible.
"As I said before, for my friends and the ones I love, I'd dive headfirst into hell without a second's hesitation", Luffy says seriously.
"I'll trust you. Now, tell me more about my daughters", Bell-mère says, wanting to know more about how her daughters were doing.
Luffy then begins to talk to Bell-mère about her daughters, especially Nami, telling her all about their adventures and what they had experienced on their journey so far.
After a while, Nami and Nojiko appear, walking toward Bell-mère's grave, and as soon as they see their mother's figure beside Luffy, they freeze in place, completely stunned.
"Yeah, looks like it's time for me to go. I'm already feeling the pull", Bell-mère says, looking affectionately at her beautiful, grown daughters.
"Do you want to leave them a message?", Luffy asks, looking at Nami and Nojiko, who have just snapped out of their shock.
"Yes, tell them that I love them and always will, and that I'm very proud of the women they've become. And lastly, take good care of my girls, future King of the Pirates", Bell-mère says before disappearing just as Nami and Nojiko run up to her.
