Chapter 7: Chapter 7: Garp’s Special Training!
Spring passed, autumn came, and in the blink of an eye, seven years had flown by.
On Mt. Colubo, near Foosha Village...
"Boom! Boom!"
Following a series of loud tremors, a massive creature slowly emerged from the forest.
It resembled a cow, but was over ten times larger than an ordinary one! Even Earth's elephants would seem tiny compared to this behemoth.
At this moment, however, the massive beast was unconscious, being dragged by a small figure, leaving a long furrow in the ground as it was pulled along.
"Hey, Dadan! Look what I've caught! Let's get ready for a feast!" Ace shouted with a hearty laugh.
"!!!"
Dadan didn't dare to respond. Standing stiffly in front of the house as though in a military stance, cold sweat dripped down her face.
"You've raised Ace well, Dadan," a voice said from behind, laced with a devilish smile.
Dadan shivered and straightened her back. "All thanks to you, Garp-san," she stammered.
"Huh? That old geezer's here? Don't even think about touching my meat!" Ace grumbled as he approached the house, spotting Garp and the trembling Dadan family.
"Call me Grandpa, you brat! You're so polite to everyone else, but you treat me like this?" Garp roared, glaring at Ace with frustration after hearing his words.
"They don't try to steal my food, old man," Ace retorted without holding back.
Despite being the same generation as his late father, Roger, Garp insisted Ace call him "Grandpa"—clearly taking advantage of the situation.
On top of that, for the past seven years, Garp had regularly shown up to steal Ace's prey.
"Ah, don't sweat the small stuff. You caught quite the beast this time. Hahaha," Garp chuckled, completely shameless, as he examined the massive creature Ace had brought in.
"To think he's already this strong…" Garp mused silently.
Although Garp was carefree and easygoing, he hadn't put Ace through any of his infamous "inhumane" special training at such a young age.
Yet, without any formal guidance, Ace had developed power far beyond what someone his age should possess.
A rare talent indeed, Garp thought, hiding his admiration.
"Banquet time! Dadan!" Ace hollered, unconcerned with Garp's thoughts.
"Never mind the banquet, Ace. I'm on a rare break right now. So how about I put you through some proper training and turn you into a fine Marine? Hahaha!" Garp suddenly grabbed Ace, laughing mischievously.
"A Marine? No way!" Ace's face twisted in disgust at the thought.
Turning the bloodline of the Pirate King into a Marine? Only a crazy old man like Garp would come up with such an idea.
Besides, the Marines worked under the World Government. Even if Ace became an Admiral, he'd end up as a glorified thug for the Celestial Dragons whenever they were in danger.
Ace had no intention of being anyone's lackey.
"I can't believe you, you brat! Looks like during this special training, I'm going to show you just how amazing the Navy really is!" Garp fumed, dragging Ace toward his ship.
As they left, Garp shouted back, "Dadan! I'll return the brat in a month!"
Watching them leave, Dadan stared anxiously in their direction.
...
"Hey, old man, where are you taking me?" Ace asked helplessly after two days aboard Garp's ship.
"Call me Grandpa! Grandpa!" Garp yelled, correcting him before answering, "We're headed to a deserted island, Ace. Just don't die there, hahaha!" He laughed heartlessly.
"Well, look, we're almost there." Garp pointed into the distance, and a small island came into view. Even from afar, the roars of wild beasts could be heard.
With such terrifying sounds, it was obvious that the island wasn't home to ordinary creatures.
"Hmph, just some island with random beasts. But I better have a hot bath tonight," Ace muttered, glaring at Garp.
Ace still remembered his mother's last words before she passed away, and ever since, taking a hot bath every night had become a habit of his.
"Don't worry about the bath. And as for these beasts, they're not the usual ones you've faced. This island holds more than just animals," Garp said with a wicked grin.
Suddenly, he pulled out two enormous fishing rods from the boat.
"Before tossing you into the jungle, let's go fishing first!" Garp grinned mischievously.
