Chapter 23: The Gloom of Mary Geoise… The Dragon's Sin
The mechanical lift groaned as it ascended the towering Red Line, its chains clinking rhythmically, slicing through the eerie silence of the morning. The world below faded into a misty expanse of blue and white, the clouds surrounding the lift like solemn sentinels. They drifted lazily, their edges glowing faintly with the rising sun. The air grew thinner, colder, as the lift creaked closer to its destination: the sacred grounds of Mary Geoise, perched high above the seas.
Through the glass panes of the lift, Vice Admiral Monkey D. Garp stood unmoving, his hands clasped behind his back, his broad frame as solid as the mountains themselves. His eyes, weathered by decades of battles and heartbreaks, gazed out at the vast ocean below.
"This is going to be a difficult day," Garp muttered, his voice low, almost lost amidst the hum of the machinery.
Behind him, seated on the solitary bench, was Fleet Admiral Sengoku, his calm demeanor belying the storm of thoughts raging in his mind. His goat, ever faithful, rested quietly by his side.
"The Celestial Dragons," Sengoku began, his tone laced with disdain, "are fragile beings. Just humans, after all. Killing them is not the challenge—it's the consequences. They control the world. Everyone fears them, not because of their strength but because of the retaliation that comes from their fall. And this time, they'll strike back harder than ever. The World Government will see to that."
Garp sighed, his lips tightening. "It's been a long time since Mary Geoise felt this tense. Something's about to give."
The lift shuddered to a halt, its doors creaking open to reveal the opulent heights of Mary Geoise.
The dawn in Mary Geoise was unlike any other. The air, usually serene and heavy with unearned grandeur, crackled with unease. The sprawling city of alabaster towers and gilded streets sparkled under the morning light, yet there was a palpable darkness.
In the central avenues, thousands of Celestial Dragons, draped in their signature bubble-like helmets and ornate robes, marched silently in unison. Their golden banners fluttered, inscribed with chilling declarations:
"Death to all life below."
"Exterminate all humans."
"The Sin of the Dragon must be purged."
"Annihilation for the Sin of Wrath."
Their steps echoed through the grand streets as they moved toward the heart of Mary Geoise: the Sacred Plaza before the towering palace of the Five Elders—the Gorosei. From the palace's towering windows, the enigmatic rulers of the world observed the silent protest below.
Jaygarcia Saturn, his thin face carved with lines of wisdom and malice, spoke first. "It's true. The Celestial Dragons are fools. But they never stay quiet when one of them is harmed. This… this will spark chaos on a scale we cannot contain."
Beside him, Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro dismissed the concern with a wave. "I care little for chaos. The pirates have gone too far this time. This boy—this so-called ' The sin of Dragon'—is a child, barely sixteen. But he's set a precedent. If we don't act, the world will think us weak."
Shepard Ju Peter, his gaze cold and calculating, added, "It's been years since I've seen Mary Geoise this restless. That boy has no idea the inferno he's awakened. His death will not suffice; he must suffer."
In the Sacred Plaza, the crowd of Celestial Dragons seethed with restless energy. At the forefront stood Commander Laroche, the elderly leader of the Knights, his sharp features partially hidden by dark sunglasses. His black-and-white armor, both ceremonial and practical, gleamed ominously in the sunlight. Behind him, the elite CP-0 agents stood in pristine white suits, their expressions masks of stoicism, though the tension in their postures betrayed their unease.
Further back, in a harrowing display of discipline, four members of CP-6 hung lifeless from makeshift crucifixes, their executions a warning to all. Laroche turned to address the gathered Celestial Dragons, his voice cutting through the still air.
"This is the fate of those who fail to protect a Celestial Dragon. If you cannot safeguard your charge, you have no right to serve. And as for the one who dared to harm a Dragon…" He paused, his lips curling into a cruel smirk. "I promise you this: I will bring the Sin of the Dragon here. His execution will be public, and it will be slow. I will make him an example for all who dare defy us."
The Celestial Dragons erupted, their cries of self-righteous fury reverberating through the plaza. They raised their hands, demanding their twisted version of justice.
Far beyond the confines of Mary Geoise, the world had already turned its eyes to the new Wanted Poster that spread like wildfire.
On the island of Dressrosa, Donquixote Doflamingo lounged on his throne, his trademark grin stretching wide. "1.9 billion berries, huh? This kid's either a fool or a legend in the making. Either way, his time is short."
In a quiet cove, the Warlord Dracule Mihawk gazed at the poster with mild interest. "A child with such a bounty… Governments never learn. They've painted a target on their own back."
Elsewhere, Boa Hancock, reclining on her throne, traced a finger along the edge of the poster. "A Celestial Dragon killer… brave, but foolish. The world will crush him."
And the Whitebeard Pirates felt the ripples of this revelation. Marco clenched the poster in his hand, concern etched across his face. "Oyaji, we need to find him. He's still our brother, even if he doesn't understand the dangers he's brought upon himself."
Whitebeard, ever calm, let out a low rumble of thought as he gazed at the horizon. Beside him, Portgas D. Ace, still adjusting to life among the crew, stared at the poster, recalling tales of the young rebel.
"So this is Mileodas huh?" Ace muttered, his tone half-amused, half-respectful. "What a reckless fool."
The world was watching. The Celestial Dragons demanded blood. And in the heart of the chaos, one boy stood alone, the weight of a billion lives pressing on his young shoulders.
