Chapter 11: Legacy of the Sword Legendary swordsman: Takeda’s Journey
Yajuro walked over, his face full of shock, looking at Itō Tōsai, whose body was covered in blood marks and lying in a pool of blood. He couldn't speak for a long time.
He never expected that the lord he served would possess such strength.
The renowned Itō , famous throughout Itō Tōsai, had been defeated by Takeda .
"Bandage him up, or he might bleed to death in a while," Takeda said with a faint smile.
His complexion was somewhat pale as well. The energy and vitality consumed by his sword-drawing technique were terrifying. Being able to unleash the Dragon-Slaying Strike after drawing his sword was beyond his expectations.
With his original physical condition, it would have been impossible to achieve such a feat. This meant that while inheriting the swordsmanship, the peak physical state of Ryuma was also merging with him.
"Having defeated Itō Tōsai, what level is my strength at now?"Takeda wondered to himself, looking forward even more to his upcoming duel with Kouzuki Oden.
This battle had ended quickly, but it had consumed a great deal of energy. The fusion with Ryuma's legacy had deepened significantly, to the point where he unleashed a Dragon-Slaying Strike.
"The world's top swordsmen can cut the sea with a single strike."
"And what about me? Can I achieve that with my current strength?" Takeda murmured softly.
He was curious to test the limits of his ability and what kind of scene he could create at his peak.
After paying respects to the Legendary swordsman Ryuma in the shrine and obtaining his legacy, his strength had been rapidly increasing with each battle.
Now, he wasn't even sure how strong he had become.
But defeating Itō Tōsai meant that his swordsmanship, even in the entire Land of Wano, was probably not weak.
Yajuro was flusteredly bandaging Itō Tōsai, searching the nearby grass for usable medicinal herbs.
Even though this was the first sword he had received, and his bandaging skills weren't pretty or tidy, he clearly understood how to treat wounds in emergencies.
In no time, Itō Tōsai was wrapped up like a dumpling, lying there snoring.
"You defeated Itō Tōsai; you can completely make him your second blade!" Yajuro said softly, looking at Takeda with a gaze filled with newfound respect.
Originally, he thought the other was just one level above him—he was at the fourth level while the lord was at the third or second.
But now, it was clear the lord was in the stratosphere! There was no comparison!
Being taken as a retainer or servant by such a strong individual was his honor.
"I won't force anyone, Yajuro," Takeda replied with a smile.
Itō Tōsai was very strong. In the instant of their sword clash, even Takeda could have been injured if he wasn't careful. A person like that, in a few years, would be a top swordsman in the world. If he became a pirate, his bounty would likely exceed a billion.
He was tempted, but as he said, he wouldn't force anyone.
The samurai of the Land of Wano were ruthless in battle, yet at the same time, they adhered strictly to rules and honor, living upright lives.
Of course, there were occasional despicable characters like Orochi, but those were exceptions.
Afterward, Takeda rested, and in his mind, the figure of Ryuma began to move again. He could feel his physical condition improving once more.
"With each battle, my strength is drawing closer to the peak Ryuma!"
When he opened his eyes, there was a light within them.
One day, in terms of combat strength, he might become a living Ryuma, capable of protecting an entire nation single-handedly.
"A duel with Kouzuki Oden is inevitable!"
He realized that while the fusion of the legacy continued in daily life, it happened much faster in battle.
In other words, the stronger his opponent, the more battle experience he could gain!
Ryuma's swordsmanship, sword techniques, and physical prowess would all become his.
"Let's go, Yajuro!" Takeda said as he stood up with a light smile.
"Yes, my lord. But what about Itō Tōsai?" Yajuro quickly stood up and looked at Itō Tōsai, who was lying spread out.
"Carry him!" Takeda laughed heartily.
Yajuro's face stiffened. Among samurai, Itō Tōsai was undoubtedly burly. With all his muscle, he weighed at least 240 pounds.
"Yes, my lord!" Yajuro smiled bitterly, realizing he had dug a hole for himself.
The two set off again, leisurely making their way toward Kuri.
Itō Tōsai's physical condition was excellent, and he recovered quickly, but he didn't wake up. Yajuro carried him for three days.
"My lord, next time you fight, could you go a little easier on your opponent?" Yajuro asked pitifully. "He's too heavy!"
Takeda burst into laughter. "Alright!"
It wasn't until the fourth day that Itō Tōsai finally woke up, looking dazed.
"Where am I?" He looked at the two of them and gradually realized what had happened.
"With such injuries, if they weren't treated, I would've surely died."
"Was it you who saved me?" he asked, sighing. Then he bent his knees, kneeling down and pressing his forehead to the ground.
"I have no way to repay the kindness of saving my life!"
Takeda was startled. He hadn't expected such an honorable reaction.
"Swear loyalty to me, Itō Tōsai . Become my retainer,"Takeda said.
"My name is Shimotsuki Takeda, heir to—"
He paused before speaking a name that shocked both present.
"Shimotsuki Ryuma!"
