Chapter 52: Chapter 50
For example, yesterday, when he first found Sasha, they were attacked by the Super Crow. The fight with the flying creature forced Sasha and Bill to split up; otherwise, they would have had to engage in a battle that would take too long.
Instead, if he had freed Rance or Fia first, the Super Crow would have been wary of getting too close, giving them the chance to rescue the others.
But since they split up, each subsequent creature became harder to defeat, creating a snowball effect.
Super Vipers, Super Bats, Super Crows, Super Baboons, and Super Rats—the Vallipo archipelago was a strange ecosystem. This archipelago somehow housed "super" versions of many animals and fish, and even more oddly, besides the Super Rainbow Trees, each small island seemed to contain a biosphere different from the others.
Putting aside yesterday's events, Bill continued running north, or at least where he thought north was, until he saw signs of a camp.
Bill didn't know why he chose north; at the start of each exercise, he was literally lifted and thrown into an unfamiliar area. After that, some monster would immediately attack him. The first time this happened, he would have wet himself if he didn't have full control over his body.
"Hey! Finally!"
Shaking his head but still running at full speed, Bill reached the young cowboy. The boy's freckles were gradually fading, and to Bill's delight, Rance was more and more starting to resemble Burt Lancaster.
Looking around, Bill noticed Rance's legs were shackled from the waist down.
"Did you see where the keys might be?" Bill asked, out of breath, knowing that the Super Baboon would appear at any second.
Rance: "Check the table, probably!"
Turning his head, Bill quickly scanned the messy camp. Debris, bedding, tents, and piles of cargo were scattered everywhere.
The camp was in total chaos, and presumably, the keys to Rance's chains were somewhere around.
Approaching the table in the center of the camp, Bill started rummaging through the items.
Flipping over cans and picking up books, Bill finally reached for a leather bag. The bag was fastened with a series of buttons, and Bill immediately set about opening it.
After opening the third button, Bill decided to just rip it open, and when he did, the contents of the bag scattered in all directions.
Briefly frustrated, Bill looked down to see where the contents had flown. To his surprise, his eyes caught a metallic glint under the table.
Thanking his luck, Bill grabbed the key and rushed back to Rance.
"Faster, faster!"
As Bill quickly unfastened the chains, he saw Rance's eyes widen and felt a presence behind him.
In one swift motion, Bill lifted Rance off the ground, while Rance delivered a powerful kick into the air.
"SICKLE WIND!"
In the blink of an eye, a thin line of compressed air shot out from the boy's leg, and although the effect wasn't very strong, it was enough to fend off the attacking bird.
"Rahahaha!»
As the boys ran further, Rance laughed and exclaimed:
"We're lucky! This time it's only a Super Sparrow!"
Bill grunted in agreement, looked back for a moment, and shouted, "Head east!"
With Rance in tow, Bill picked up speed. Of all four, Rance outpaced the others, which was not surprising considering that the Six Powers is a martial art based on footwork.
As they ran, they didn't encounter many problems. Bill occasionally looked back and threw something towards the Super Baboon, while Rance kept the Super Sparrow in check, preventing it from attacking from above.
After some time, they found Ricky. The boy was hanging above the nest of the Super Ants. Fortunately, the Super Baboon was smart enough not to create noise near this nest, and since it was a training exercise, Ricky was hanging right-side up, not upside down.
Unfortunately, Rance couldn't use Moon Step, so they needed to rescue Ricky without waking the Super Ants' nest.
Looking at the branch Ricky was hanging from, Bill saw that it was just a thin twig. Even if the Super Sparrow didn't attack them from above, this branch wouldn't hold more weight than Ricky's.
"Look for a big log, we'll make posts."
While Rance was searching for a large log or something that could be used as a temporary post, Bill noticed a large bird flying closer to the thin branch.
The bird was just a bird, but Bill could see its gears turning in its head.
"Rance! Forget the post, find his swords, quickly!"
As the bird got closer and closer to the branch, Bill dashed into action. It only took him a few seconds to see that the two swords were lying on the anthill, right near the entrance to the nest.
"Over there! Rance, come here!"
When the cowboy glanced back, he seemed to have the same thought as Bill and responded, "Oh no..."
"Listen, when you cut the rope, head south. I'll catch up with you on the way!"
With these simple instructions, Bill charged towards the two swords, waking up the anthill in the process.
When he returned to Rance, he first tossed him the swords and then grabbed Ricky by the shirt, throwing him towards the ropes
