One piece : Armor of Justice

Chapter 44: Chapter 42

Hearing the outburst of anger, Fia stepped back, while Rance stood his ground. Emotionally, Bill said, "I think we should call the Sheriff, mister, because yesterday my friend was hit by a cart that came from this sawmill, and now you're yelling at us?! There should be accountability!"

Looking the trio over, the man smirked and said, "Well, you don't look hurt."

Bill replied, "My friend just got lucky; she's just a girl, and now that you've yelled at her, she feels even worse."

Turning to Fia, she quickly covered her face with her hands and began to quietly sob. Bill turned back to the man and said, "Now look what you've done!"

Put in an awkward position by the crying child, the worker, who was clearly not the best at handling such situations, reacted in a way that played into Bill's advantage: "Well, how do you even know the cart that hit your friend came from here?"

Still maintaining his emotional tone, Bill answered, "It was a cart carrying Red Elm, and the driver even said it came from the Rainbow Mulino sawmill."

Now rolling his eyes, the man replied disdainfully, "Kid, just think about the name." Then, with a wave of his hand, he continued, "This is the 'RAINBOW Mulino' sawmill. How does that line up with a cart carrying Red Elm coming from here, huh?"Rance: "You're lying, it really did come from here!"

As soon as Rance said this, Fia began to fake sob again.

Placing a hand on Rance's shoulder, Bill asked, "So, they don't process Red Elm at this sawmill?"

Rolling his eyes once again, the man with a nasal voice replied, "We can process anything, but ninety-nine percent of our sales are Rainbow wood. Trust me, kid, that driver lied, and you're a fool if you can't connect the facts with the names."

When the man was about to shout again, Bill held Rance back, apologized to the man, and left.

Not far from the sawmill entrance, Rance addressed Bill with an accusatory tone: "We're just leaving? We have a real reason to investigate!"

Fia nodded and added, "And I could just sneak inside, no one would find me."

Turning to them, Bill slightly tilted his head to the side and then looked straight ahead again, saying, "I know both of you, and I have a plan."

Standing in a circle, Bill began explaining his plan to Ricky, Rance, Fie, and Sasha.

It wasn't easy to convince Sasha and Ricky to join, but in the end, they didn't refuse when Bill said he needed their help.

Since everyone had their own commitments, Bill insisted on acting quickly. If everything goes according to plan, they will be able to sneak into the sawmill and be out by night.

Bill: "Okay, we have to tell our parents we're staying overnight at Rance's. Tonight, we'll sneak onto the sawmill to see what's there and maybe find that invoice Rance saw. Ricky and Fia will be on lookout while Sasha, Rance, and I go inside."

Hearing they were assigned to lookout duty, neither Ricky nor Fia looked pleased. Seeing this, Bill repeated, "Listen, only you two can be on lookout. Ricky, you're the best at spotting anything suspicious, and Fia can create such a big distraction that we could all escape. And finally, you two are the best at running and not getting caught."

Ricky just shrugged, although he agreed, but Fia thought otherwise: "So, you just want me to blow something up? I think Sasha and Rance should be on lookout, and Ricky and I would do better searching."

Narrowing her eyes, Sasha looked at the girl bomb and said with final confidence, "Don't be mistaken, nothing escapes my attention. If what we're looking for is there, I will find it."

"Yes, and my experience as a lawman makes me the obvious choice for the infiltration team," said Rance, nodding his head.

When Ricky responded to Rance, saying he was the worst of all five, Bill took control of the situation again: "Enough! The infiltration team is not more important than the lookouts. This is teamwork!Shaking his head, he continued, "If we can't work together on something as simple as this, how are we going to fight pirates? Listen, we're just looking for stacks of Red Elm at the sawmill. If they're there, the case is closed. If not, we'll quickly and quietly check the office. There's no need for too much stealth because there shouldn't be anyone at the sawmill at night! The lookouts have the most important task because if anyone shows up, you need to warn us!"

Once everyone mostly agreed, Bill continued explaining his plan.

The key points were: where to jump over the fence, the direction in which Fia should fire a warning shot, and how to regroup if a distraction was needed.

After the plan was confirmed, the group dispersed to get permission to stay overnight at Rance's place.

Bill got permission from Miss Angie, but he was reminded that classes would start at the usual time tomorrow. He was also told that he was responsible for making sure everyone arrived on time.

Having gotten permission, he headed to the officers' elevator and saw that Ricky and Sasha were already waiting for him there. They both carried swords and looked ready for action.
