One Piece: A Side Story – The Forgotten Isle

Chapter 71: One Piece: A Side Story – The Forgotten Isle (Part 71)

The golden light swirled around the Straw Hat crew, filling the air with a charged energy that felt almost suffocating. Each member of the crew was trapped within their own vision, faced with the most difficult decisions they had ever encountered. The eerie figure before them remained silent, observing their reactions, its shadowy face unreadable.

Luffy, always the one to meet challenges head-on, clenched his fists and took a deep breath. "This isn't gonna stop us," he muttered to himself. His eyes narrowed in determination, as the vision of Ace—of his brother—appeared before him once more. It was not the same as the trial before, but this time, Ace's face was filled with sorrow.

"Ace...?" Luffy said, his voice cracking slightly. "You're telling me I have to give up my dream of being Pirate King?"

The vision of Ace's face twisted, flickering between his memories of their adventures together and a version of himself lost to the shadows. "To be Pirate King, Luffy," Ace said, "you will need to leave others behind. Is your dream worth that much? The people you care about? Your crew?" His voice echoed ominously.

But Luffy, shaking off the doubt, stood tall and grinned. "I'll never give up on my dream! And my crew... they're my family. I'll take them with me to the top, no matter what it takes!"

With a roar, Luffy reached forward, pushing the vision of Ace away. The vision cracked like glass, fading into nothingness. The trial was not about giving up his dream—it was about reaffirming what he already knew in his heart: the bonds with his friends and the shared pursuit of their goals were his true treasure.

Nearby, Robin stood still, her mind entangled in the vision that gripped her soul. The image of her younger self—alone in a dark library of forbidden knowledge—loomed large. "You abandoned them, Robin," the vision whispered. "Every time you ran from your past, you destroyed those you loved."

The memories of her painful past, her isolation, and the abandonment of her true self pressed in. The weight of the choices she had made—every betrayal she thought she could escape—seemed to trap her in this nightmare of shadows.

But Robin didn't flinch. She had faced her past before, and she had grown stronger. "I've made mistakes," she murmured, her voice resolute. "But I've also found a family. I've learned to fight for the people I care about. I will never leave them again."

With one powerful motion, she shattered the vision of her past, her arms outstretched as if embracing the future. She had confronted her demons—and now, she was free of them.

Sanji, however, was struggling. The vision that confronted him was more subtle but no less painful. The image of the All Blue—his greatest dream—shifted before his eyes, distorted by a haunting vision of an empty, barren ocean.

"You'll never find the All Blue," the voice whispered. "No matter how hard you try, you'll never reach it. You're not strong enough."

Sanji's face twisted in anger. "I've come too far to back down now. I won't let anyone tell me that I can't achieve my dream."

With a powerful kick, he shattered the vision, his body radiating with the fire of his resolve. "The All Blue is out there! And I'll find it—even if it means going to the ends of the earth!"

Nearby, Zoro stood, facing his own haunting vision. It was not a vision of failure, but a chilling projection of endless battles, a future where he had become the world's greatest swordsman, but at the cost of losing everything else. His swords were stained with the blood of enemies he had defeated—yet his eyes were empty, devoid of everything that mattered.

"You've lost yourself, Zoro," the vision taunted. "What's the point of becoming the greatest swordsman if you've lost everything in the process?"

Zoro stood unwavering. "I never forget what I fight for. My crew, my promises—they keep me going. Being the strongest means nothing without people to fight for."

With a determined snarl, Zoro's swords flashed through the air, slicing the vision in two. "I'll never lose myself, not as long as I have my crew by my side."

As the crew faced their trials, Chopper's vision was a mirror of his own fears: a world where he remained small and insignificant, unable to fight alongside his friends. His dream of becoming a great doctor was threatened by a vision of helplessness, of being trapped in a never-ending cycle of failure.

But Chopper's resolve was stronger than ever. "I'm not that weak little reindeer anymore!" he shouted, his voice shaking with newfound confidence. "I'm a member of the Straw Hat Pirates. I'll save everyone, no matter what!"

With a final roar, he banished the vision, his heart pounding with pride in who he had become.

Franky, too, was faced with a moment of doubt. The vision before him was of a world where his creations—his ships, his inventions—were nothing but rusting, broken remnants. His dream of building the greatest ship and becoming a hero felt hollow in the face of his own insecurities.

"You'll never build the perfect ship," the vision sneered. "All your work will be for nothing."

But Franky's laugh rang out, full of confidence and passion. "I've built the Thousand Sunny! I've created wonders that will last forever! I'll keep building, no matter what anyone says!"

With a confident swing of his fist, Franky shattered the vision, reaffirming his belief in the work he did and the crew he sailed with.

The final challenge was no longer about the past—it was about the present. About their journey and the sacrifices they had already made for one another. One by one, each Straw Hat proved that their dreams and their bonds were worth more than anything the island could throw at them.

The figure before them finally spoke. "You have passed the ultimate trial. Your resolve has been tested and proven. You are worthy of the Forgotten Isle's power."

As the golden light intensified, the cavern around them began to shift, revealing the true secret of the island. But with each of them standing together, ready for whatever came next, they knew that nothing could stop them now.

The final door to their future awaited.
