Chapter 66: One Piece: A Side Story – The Forgotten Isle (Part 66)
The glowing pathway stretched deep into the heart of the island, its crystalline surface pulsing with a rhythmic light. Each step the crew took echoed softly, as if the island itself was listening to their every move. The air was thick with energy, making their skin tingle and their instincts sharpen.
Sanji kept his hands in his pockets, glancing around warily. "This whole place feels alive. Like it's watching us."
"I agree," Robin said, her gaze sweeping over the glowing trees. "These crystals are more than just part of the landscape. They're connected to the island's core."
Chopper shivered, his small hooves clacking nervously on the crystal path. "It's like it's testing us just by being here."
Luffy, however, was unfazed. He marched ahead with his usual grin. "Whatever it is, we'll face it head-on! No turning back now!"
Nami sighed but smiled faintly. "You're right, Luffy. We've come too far to hesitate."
As they advanced, the pathway led them to a vast clearing where the forest opened into a circular arena carved into the island itself. Towering crystal spires surrounded the arena, their surfaces glowing with symbols that pulsed in time with the island's heartbeat.
Suddenly, the voice from earlier echoed once more, louder and clearer than before. "You have passed the Trial of Unity, but strength alone is not enough. The Trial of Resolve will test your willpower and courage. Only those who face their deepest fears without faltering will proceed."
The ground beneath them trembled, and from the crystalline spires emerged glowing figures resembling each of the Straw Hat crew members. But these weren't ordinary copies. Their eyes burned with an intense light, and their expressions were blank yet menacing.
Usopp's jaw dropped. "Wait... we're fighting ourselves?!"
Zoro's hand instinctively moved to his swords. "No... not just ourselves. They're manifestations of our doubts, our weaknesses."
The Luffy doppelgänger stepped forward, its glowing eyes narrowing. "Are you truly strong enough to lead? Or is your dream just a reckless fantasy?"
Luffy's grin faded for a moment, but then he laughed. "I don't need to answer you. My crew believes in me, and that's all the proof I need!"
The Zoro doppelgänger drew its glowing swords. "Will you falter in the face of stronger opponents? Or can you carry the weight of being the first mate?"
Zoro tightened his grip on his swords. "I've never backed down before, and I won't start now. Bring it on."
Each member of the crew faced their counterpart, the arena crackling with tension.
Robin's doppelgänger spoke in a calm, chilling voice. "Do you truly believe knowledge can protect them? Or will your past destroy your future?"
Robin stepped forward, her gaze unwavering. "Knowledge isn't just protection; it's power. And I'll use it to protect them all."
The arena grew silent as the glowing doppelgängers raised their weapons, their eyes shining brighter. The crew stood firm, determination blazing in their hearts. They knew this wasn't just a battle of strength—it was a battle of resolve.
Luffy raised his fist high. "Straw Hats! Let's show them who we are!"
The crew roared in unison, charging forward to face their mirrored fears.
