Chapter 15: Chapter 15:Werewolf

In a large training yard, stood a muscular middle aged man and an 8 year old boy sparring with their swords, the man held his wooden sword with one hand while blocking the boy's incoming attacks as he nibbled on an apple with the other hand.

"Not bad kid, you've gone from being completely incompetent to a little less incompetent in just a month, you don't seem to slack off during your nightly training."

"You know what? You have too absurd standards for judging people.

I've been training with the sword for barely a month, and out of that month you've only taught me for four days, now i can beat a squire twice my size and age and you say i've only become a little less incompetent?"

The middle aged man threw away the apple scraps in his hand and replied, "Those are incompetent too, they are all incompetent, but at least you are a little less incompetent, you have some talent, but you couldn't beat a squire with your current strength unless you use your magic tricks or give them a low blow but that is forbidden in this manor so it's up to you to try harder."

The boy swung his wooden sword and continued to attack as he spoke to the man.

"Whatever you say, but i still don't understand why you agreed to train me, when i came here i just wanted some guidance from one of your squires."

"Boredom, my dear Vilgefortz.

Too much boredom.

A retired knight like me can only sit in this mansion, playing with my thumbs while i wait to be invited to some stupid event of some petulant nobleman or wait for a war to happen so i can go back to playing at chopping off the heads of those greenhorns who call themselves knights.

As i wait for something to magically appear to relieve my boredom just outside my front door, oddly enough an overconfident kid appears that i can make fun of for three hours every Saturday.

You remind me of those royal jesters.

You know what they're like?

They're also dwarfs, cocky and do an excellent job of fooling around to keep their king entertained.

Did you understand what i was trying to say?"

"Yes i did understand you, i'm a fool and you're bored, can you take the training seriously?"

"You don't seem to have understood, you are upset and you keep waving your sword around like a monkey waving a stick, you need to have more elegance in your technique."

As the man spoke, he deflected Viltz's sword with his sword and then hit him in the butt with the sword, making him stumble and fall on his face.

"Wrong! Wrong! You have to get better or else i'll keep kicking your ass until you grow up.

Come on get up and let's start over."

...

Two hours later, a trembling Viltz walked out the outer gates of the mansion while a butler waited for him next to a carriage.

"Fare you well young master Vilgefortz."

"Goodbye Jeffer, and thanks for the carriage, i don't think i can make it to the academy from here with the beating your master gave me earlier."

"I'm afraid worse things await you young man, my master is someone who takes most things lightly but when something interests him he takes it very seriously, an example of that are those squires and apprentice knights he has trained, they have all been trained by my master in a more...lenient manner than you."

"Oh? Then how do you train them?"

"Ahhhh, my lord just makes them run around the garden and fight each other while he just points out some things they do wrong and gives them a tip if he's in a good mood, if he's in a bad mood or bored...he hangs them upside down naked from a tree for the whole night so they won't make the same mistake again.

And that's not the worst part, the worst part is when he forces them to sing absurd songs for hours until he gets tired of their songs.

But don't worry, he has taken a liking to you, he won't give you the same punishment if you make a mistake.

Or so i think."

Viltz shuddered as he imagined himself hanging upside down from a tree with his balls in the air while singing some absurd song just to entertain that guy.

He shook his head to get those thoughts out of his mind and entered the carriage, thankful that he didn't share the same fate as those poor unfortunate apprentices.

Arriving in front of the academy, Viltz got out of the carriage and entered, saying goodbye to the coachman.

After finishing his bath, he went down to the dining room for dinner only to find his companions already seated eating so he greeted them.

"Hello everyone, how was your day?"

"Good, i just won a fortune betting."

Lockhart waved a bag full of coins and smiled.

Artaud let out a long sigh and spoke: "I met a young woman, beautiful, delicate, elegant, beautiful, haaaay, i think i'm in love."

"Ya, that's the third time you've fallen in love this month, just because she smiled at you doesn't mean she wants to do something with you and you just used the word beautiful twice to define her.

Don't you know any other terms to define a woman?"

Lockhart sneered disdainfully.

"What do you know! I'm the oldest here and i'm the one with the most experience, she saw my attractiveness and that's why she smiled at me, because she was instantly smitten.

She had that look that all women get when they want something with you, if it wasn't because she was with someone i swear i would have thrown myself at her directly."

"Yeah, whatever you say champ, you go on in your love fantasy world."

Sitting down at the table, Viltz noticed Igor and asked with mock concern as he noticed his silent demeanor and slightly pale face.

"Igor, are you all right?

Igor?

Can you hear me?"

Igor, stunned, did not respond until Algernon tapped him on the shoulder, snapping him out of his daze.

"Igor, are you all right?"

"Yes, yes, i'm fine, i'm...fine."

"Well, you don't look fine at all."

"You should go to the infirmary to see if something's wrong."

"It doesn't matter, i'm fine, really."

"Whatever, it's your problem, not ours."

They all stopped harping on the subject and continued eating.

When they finished and were about to leave,a soft light came through one of the windows, catching everyone's attention.

The moon, previously hidden by clouds, was now rising in the sky, casting its light out into the world.

Igor, who had just stood up, suddenly stared at the full moon.

His eyes became bestial, his arms, legs, face and his whole body began to expand and lengthen until he was two meters tall.

His black hair turned gray and all over his body a similar fur began to grow.

Fixing its vertical eyes on the moon, the beast let out a wolf howl that reverberated throughout the academy.

"That's it...that's it!"

"It's a fucking werewolf!"

"Run! Don't just stand here like morons and run!"

Letting out a cry of alarm,Viltz conjured a fireball and hurled it at the beast that had fixed its gaze on them.

With a boom, the fireball struck the werewolf's face, making it groan in pain.

Shaking its head, the werewolf let out a roar and ran quickly towards Viltz and the others.

"Keep attacking!"

"It's too fast,i can't keep up with it."

"Shit! It's going to kill us!"

As everyone screamed, Viltz conjured up a gust of wind that blew all the silverware and plates across the table and directed them towards the incoming beast.

The werewolf grabbed a table next to him and placed it in front of him, using it as a shield.

After taking a few steps, the werewolf tossed the table aside and looked at the group of young men in front of him.

In his eyes was nothing but pure savagery and bloodlust.

Letting out a roar, the werewolf pounced on the largest prey, Artaud.

Seeing the beast arrive in front of him in an instant, Artaud could only close his eyes in despair.

After a few seconds, Artaud opened his eyes in confusion, not knowing why the beast had not yet attacked him.

"Am i alive?"

Still confused, Artaud stared at the scene unfolding in front of him.

There it was, the beast, now lying on the ground with half of its body fused to the ground.

In front of the beast stood the vice chancellor, clutching the beast's head as it spouted strange gibberish.

Snapping out of his stupor, Artaud took two steps away and asked.

"What are you going to do with him vice chancellor?

"We have no choice but to kill him, he is dangerous, we can't leave him in the academy and we can't release him to go around killing people."

When he finished speaking, the werewolf closed his eyes, after which his body began to shrink and the fur covering his body began to fall off, returning to his normal form.

Lifting the now unconscious boy onto his shoulders, the vice chancellor turned to the other boys and spoke again: "I know he is your comrade and friend but it's the way it is, either we kill him or let him go free to kill more people.

The only good thing about this situation is that Igor is the third son of a baron, with a little compensation we can appease his father's complaints.

Well, you guys can go to sleep."

Finished speaking, the vice chancellor walked away with igor on his shoulder.
