Chapter 50: Tricking The Shrine of Life Elder Plan is A Success
Bloom then paused as his face showed a very vengeful expression while adding, "I came here today to you so that you can help me kill that elder. You know it well, as long as I have this quest, I can't accept yours. I don't want to live in fear from a pile of moving bones who use threats and force to reach his goals! I want you to help me kill him!"
Bloom expressed his utmost desire with his utmost deepest rage, using parts of truth coating his lies, perfectly, and that made that shrine of life elder never doubt what he just said!
In fact, the two shrines had a very long feud between each other. No one of the two would live on without trying to destroy the other one. The words of Bloom played on a very likeable idea for that elder, as he hurriedly changed his reaction and his expression turned soft as he said:
"That's a very sad story to hear, and a very dark fate to residue to. I, as an elder of the shrine of life, hereby pledge to help you and kill that monster of the death shrine."
His words made Bloom smile, inwardly, however his face kept his stern look as he said:
"But he is very strong, and already sinister and vigilant towards me. if he spotted you coming with me, he would definitely run away."
"He is really that sinister, despite what he desperately wanted, he couldn't dare to face me head on and forced innocent players like you to help him," the elder of the shrine said, while his face showed extreme anger.
"I have a plan, and this plan will help us kill that NPC," Bloom said, as he explained, "I have this quest to retrieve the artifact stolen from the death shrine, so if you gave me the artifact, followed me from far and waited for my signal, then we can attack that NPC without the threat of him running away."
The NPC showed some hesitation, before Bloom added:
"The moment you give me the artifact, my quest will be partly completed and so you can issue me a quest from your shrine, to kill that elder. By this you will know I will be loyal to the shrine of life."
Bloom knew how quests were run by any game system. The quest itself was related to retrieving the artifact stolen, as the part of delivering it to that elder of the death shrine was related to receiving the quest rewards from him.
The gap between fulfilling the quest and receiving the rewards was a gap with no quest attached to him, and thus he could receive another quest, a quest from a rivaling shrine like the shrine of life.
"Sounds fair, so I will give you the artifact, and then issue you the quest to kill that elder of death shrine; refusing to accept the quest will force me to kill you and retrieve the artifact with a special way of mine," the NPC said, trying to threaten Bloom, not knowing he already fell in Bloom's trap.
"Sure, it's a deal then," Bloom nodded, trying to hide his extreme excitement. The NPC just glanced for a long moment at him, before taking out a small dark skull, with a greenish luster over its black surface.
"Here, this is the artifact I took from that cursed shrine," he said while extending his hand towards Bloom. Bloom instantly moved and took the skull, trying to control his rushed heart beats, as by this the first step, and the hardest one of his plans had already succeeded.
The moment he touched it, system notifications came one after another.
"System alert: Player has acquired the stolen artifact of the shrine of death."
"System alert: Player has completed the quest successfully. Player has to see the elder of the shrine of death to receive the rewards from him."
"System alert: The elder of the shrine of life has issued a quest for you, To Kill the Death Shrine Elder quest. Do you agree in accepting this quest?"
"System alert: Shrine of Death is the archenemy of the shrine of life. accepting the quest from the shrine of life elder and fulfilling it will put you instantly in the shrine of life camp."
"System alert: Player has already chosen not to join any shrine, acting solo and rogue. If a player didn't find a way out of this problem, and failed to fulfill his main quest, the system would consider this as a failure and the player will lose his right to obtain the secret class. Player has to choose wisely, as his choice won't be able to be refuted."
Bloom didn't hesitate as he hurriedly accepted the quest from the elder in front of him. Everything was going smoothly according to his plan, and now the hardest step, the step to convince that elder of life to trust him and give him the stolen artifact had passed, peacefully without any disputes.
"Great, you are true to your words, and now keep this skull inside your inventory, as that elder of death could detect its presence in the open from a far distance."
The face of the elder of life was beaming with comfort as he was relieved Bloom didn't double cross him. Bloom didn't hesitate to put the skull away, as he didn't want to alarm that elder before finalizing the trap around him.
"Now, how can we kill that elder?" Bloom asked, making the fact of his ownership to the title hidden from the elder in front of him.
"We should use the moment when you show the skull to him. At this moment, he will be occupied by the skull, distracted for a brief moment, and I will use this to attack," the elder said before adding, "I have a concealment skill, one that could help me evade the scouting of him. However this skill has a weakness, as if I got so near to him by less than one hundred meters, he would sense me and then run away."
For Bloom, one hundred meters was nothing, so there was only one explanation here.
"Does he have any teleportation item?" Bloom asked, expressing his own guess out loud.
"He does," the elder nodded, confirming Bloom's guess, "but if he is so near from the skull, he will be bound by the system to fulfill the quest, and can't run away," the elder added before shaking his head in regret, "but I can't risk giving the skull to him, so I will act the moment you take it out from your inventory. The moment I do that, you have to hide it inside your inventory, and run away fast."
Bloom nodded, while the real scenario playing in his head was quite different.
