Chapter 12
[The Dwitch Gallery]
A community chat filled with all sorts of gossip about streamers broadcasting on Dwitch.
In this community, Miro was quite famous.
Already, ‘Celestial Realm Project’ conducted by The Six, a relatively well-known company in the internet broadcasting industry, had gained recognition thanks to several streamers mentioning it, and the spotlight increased with the growing controversy around Taesan.
Then, some community users who came across Miro started posting short clips of her, resulting in others frequently viewing Miro’s clips, which were often trending in the popular posts.
Most of these clips consisted of minor gaffe edits that could spark controversy, but as they kept popping up, the community users, who spent all day watching broadcasts and lurking in the gallery, repeatedly watched Miro’s streams and settled in. Now, within this community, she had gained much more prominence than other participants.
[But can Miro even pass? LOL]
Sure, there are a lot of viewers, but aren’t they all just from the gallery?
Her streams seem kind of lackadaisical; isn’t it right for the other hardworking participants to be the ones to pass?
If The Six were thinking straight, they probably wouldn’t pick Miro.
– This guy hasn’t seen Miro’s stream.
– Judging by what’s coming out on the gallery, it seems like she’s not doing much, right?
– Why would Miro need to create content? LOL Her voice is the content!
– For real, you can just put it on while doing something else, and the time flies.
– So who else are you watching among the other participants?
– I’m watching Anna and Loa.
– You’re saying you’re watching others? This guy is seriously something else! LOL
– Is there a problem?
[What are the passing criteria for the Celestial Realm Project?]
So, do they just pick whoever they like at The Six?
– Yup, they choose based on audience reactions and internal meetings at the company.
– So they’re just picking at random then?
– They’re conducting auditions, you fool! LOL
[Miro, why is she being disqualified?]
Is there anyone who has more viewers than Miro right now?
The only one might be Anna, who does karaoke streams, is there anyone else? LOL
– Mile sometimes beats her in view count.
– That’s just her previous life’s luck! LOL
– But aren’t half of them from here anyway?
– Are they even human? LOLOLOL
– Fact: Not really.
[It’s an idol selection, so why is Miro even in the running?]
So, has Miro ever done a karaoke stream?
If an idol can’t sing, do they still qualify as an idol? LOL
– Miro can’t sing?
– Yup, she’s at an average level, but her voice is decent.
– This guy is really good at roasting Miro! LOL
When there was a heated debate about Miro, a post surfaced in the popular posts.
[But if Miro fails, isn’t she quitting broadcasting?]
Isn’t she one of the few participants who isn’t a professional?
The others all seem like they have some past life experience or have been professionally trained, looking serious about being VTubers, but Miro seems to be just casually streaming, so she might really quit if she gets disqualified. Yep.
– Yeah, she might as well quit~ Just watch Anna instead~
– Doesn’t Miro have prior experience?
– Nope, nothing at all has come up.
– Damn, who am I going to watch now when I do my daily quests..
[They keep focusing on Miro, but this audition is just about this guy.]
(A video of a character with brown hair and a bread hat singing)
(A video of a musical actress stepping forward to sing)
That’s Anna.
So, does Miro sing better than Anna?
Is she prettier than Anna?
Is she just more pleasant to have on? Anna’s karaoke streams are much more enjoyable! LOL
– That’s Anna-chan!
– Is that musical actress Anna?
– Yup, it seems she quit musical theater to apply for auditions.
– Why on earth?
– No idea! LOL
– Anna-chan is legit, though! Yup!
– You guys watch stuff like that? Ugh, degenerates.
– Miro’s voice is better.
[Pure fun isn’t Haru?]
(A girl character with white hair and red eyes shaking her head in a GIF)
She’s just a clown. Yup.
– I find her a bit over the top, so she’s not my type.
– Among the audition participants, she’s the most interesting one.
[Oh my God! LOL, the gallery has turned into a mess.]
These guys act tough while watching the auditions.
Can’t the nerds just crawl out of the gallery?
– For real! LOL
– To be honest, it’s somewhat entertaining. Yup…
As the speculation about Miro’s audition status turned into a gal cup among participants, the community began to heat up.
“What’s going on?”
While surfing the web looking for her name, Miro eventually saw the whole process and shook her head, thinking the community was just a bunch of nonsense as she prepared for her broadcast.
**
The third round of the audition ends tomorrow.
Though it has been a short period of just a few weeks, I still think it has been quite fulfilling and beneficial.
[The Dwitch Rising Star, Miro, live!]
“Nice to meet you!”
– Hi hi!
– What’s the broadcast title?
– So it’s become this now.
– What does “Rising Star” mean?
“Oh, that means I’ve made a name for myself in the martial arts world.”
– What are you even saying?
– Sigh… It’s starting off like this again.
[Thanks for the donation, Miro, 10,000 won!]
But isn’t a rising star something someone else gives you?
I tilted my head at the message from a chairman who changed their name after getting banned the last time.
My avatar with pink hair, moving as my head tilted, looks pretty cute.
“Thank you for the donation. Do I really have to have someone else assign that title? I haven’t been in martial arts for long, so I didn’t know.”
I actually know.
But what of it? I’m “The Dwitch Rising Star, Miro!”
– How the heck are we supposed to know that?
– Who even watches martial arts these days?
– I found a martial arts webtoon interesting, though.
“Don’t you watch martial arts? Oh… you must be more into fantasy, then?”
– That’s right!
– What?
– I don’t even watch fantasy.
“I want to give you a metaphor, but nothing’s coming to mind.”
– You don’t have to give one!
– Just keep broadcasting!
“There must be something to talk about!”
– ?
– Didn’t you prepare anything again?
– You’re really just winging it.
– This gal is just this gal, huh? Yup.
– I didn’t expect anything anyway.
[Thank you, 1,000 won!]
Can you prepare something?
“I want to convey my natural charm to everyone, so I’m doing this. If I prepare something, it’s just a facade… right? I’m greeting you all with my bare face.”
– San-nim, put some makeup on!
– The no-makeup VTuber.
– Miro-unnie! T_T Are you a pro-feminist? I’m getting emotional T_T
“Hey, don’t paint me with a strange brush! They say guys like bare faces, right? Isn’t that true?”
– Saying not to frame you, and then you frame yourself!
– Guys also prefer makeup! Yup.
– You need to see someone with makeup to appreciate bare faces!
– Who would like a bare face thrown at them without any context?
[Thank you, 1,000 won!]
You’ve got to be pretty for people to like you!
I couldn’t help but laugh inside at the frantic chat.
Everyone genuinely likes me while being critical on the outside, huh?
“Am I not pretty?”
– Ugh, seriously…
– You’re ugly! Put some makeup on, gal! LOL
– Nope, not falling for it~ Nope, not falling for it~ Nope, not falling for it~ Nope, not falling for it~ Nope, not falling for it~
As I tossed out a thick-skinned remark, the chat began to twist.
“In any case! It’s a bit early, but I have a major announcement to make.”
I calmed things down and brought up the main topic of today’s broadcast. Originally, I planned to share this once more viewers gathered, but I figured I’d just say it early and continue with the broadcast.
“Today is the last broadcast of the auditions, and tomorrow will be a day off.”
– ?
– Tomorrow is the last day, and you’re saying you’ll take a day off?
– Are you serious? LOL;;
– If you take a day off tomorrow, no one will vote!
On the final day of the third round of auditions, the chat stirred up with surprise at the mention of taking a day off.
“Please calm down. You all know we’ll submit videos for the fourth round, right?”
For the fourth round of auditions, each participant must send in a short video within 30 minutes, which will be uploaded to The Six’s official YouTube channel. Viewers will watch and vote based on that.
– Yup!
– I know.
– What are you going to submit?
[Thank you, Mika-Cola, 1,000 won!]
Do you think this gal prepared anything? Isn’t she just going to scramble at the last minute tomorrow?
“Wow… sharp observation..”
– For real??
– Other participants prepared for a week in advance!
– This gal just has no motivation! Yup.
“Anyway, then I’ll have to make a video tomorrow, right? Look forward to it.”
– San-chan, if you’re making a video tomorrow, is that even preparation?
– Seriously, can we even expect something from this?
– Big expectations often lead to big disappointments…
I chuckled at the chat, seeing how they reacted.
“Expect even more! Whatever you picture, it’ll be beyond that.”
[Thank you, Miro, 10,000 won!]
But what will you do if you fail the auditions, Miro?
Donations from the chairman arrived amid my confident outpouring, causing the chat to stir.
– Huh?
– What do you mean by that, Chairman…
“Hey, what are you talking about, making me feel negative?”
[Thank you, Miro, 10,000 won!]
If you fail, you’re not quitting broadcasting, right?
‘What, is this community making him worry?’
Facing the worried message from the chairman who usually donates a lot and quietly resurrected his name after getting banned, I felt a sudden rush of joy.
“Wait, are you worried about me? Hahaha! Even if I fail, I’ll keep broadcasting, so don’t stay up all night worrying~”
– Yup!
– What are you talking about??
– Let’s just continue with yesterday’s World Cup!
– I’ve never worried, so stop making a fuss, LOL.
Why would I quit broadcasting? Seeing the flood of chat messages, I couldn’t help but smile.
Everyone’s so embarrassed.
***
“Welcome~”
As I heard the now-familiar voice of the receptionist, I entered the Vocal Academy.
The theme for the fourth round is freedom.
All I need to do is introduce myself to the viewers based on the activities I’ve done so far.
Normally, participants would edit highlights from their broadcasts to submit to The Six, but I thought of something different.
Even though I’m not streaming right now, attending this vocal academy is also an activity for broadcasting, isn’t it?
I already received permission from The Six.
Oddly enough, their response came back extremely quickly.
“Are you taking lessons again today?”
I already had a visual in mind for what video I would send.
“No, today I’ve decided to rent a recording studio.”
I said that with a bright smile.
My fourth-round video will be a song.
For this occasion, I practiced just one song.
I will dazzle the viewers who have scoffed at me with my singing!
