Normality in COTE

Chapter 4: YamaGod the Magnificent

"Yamauchi-kun, are you also in Class D?"

As YamaGod entered the classroom, Nino Nakano spotted him right away, her eyes lighting up with a curious gleam.

They had met on the bus, where they'd struck up a surprisingly friendly conversation despite his slightly perverted streak.

But YamaGod was also undeniably cool, a trait that made it hard for her to brush him off or pretend he didn't exist.

And why should she ignore him, anyway?

Especially when she could just greet him.

Even Yamauchi hadn't expected such a sight as soon as he walked into class.

The stunning girl stood before him, radiating charm, and her warm welcome caught him off guard.

A confident, almost smug smile tugged at his lips as he replied.

"Yes, lucky me, indeed, Nino-chan, to end up in the same class as such a beautiful girl like you."

"You're such a slick guy, you know that, Yamauchi-kun?" she replied, a rosy blush creeping over her cheeks as she glanced away shyly.

Nino's weakness had always been confident guys and macho men who exuded strength without needing to say a word, and YamaGod embodied every quality she looked for in a potential mate.

Though he might not have the most striking looks—his face was, in fact, quite average, the kind that might blend into a crowd—his aura and attitude more than compensated for it.

For her, a real man was defined by his confidence, presence, and smooth talk, not just his appearance.

This is what sets an Alpha Male apart from a simp.

A simp thinks he needs good looks, money, and the perfect approach just to win a girl's attention.

But an Alpha like YamaGod?

He doesn't need any of that fluff.

Just a well-placed flirtation and a genuine smile, and every woman in the room gravitates to him, drawn like moths to a flame.

YamaGod knew the game well—no need for money, no need for looks, just the unmistakable aura of a GigaChad to make any girl weak in the knees and wet their pussy.

The prime example?

The gorgeous girl standing before him was living proof of that.

"Hah… too bad we don't have seats near each other, Nino-chan," he said, feigning a sigh of disappointment, though the glimmer in his eye told a different story.

She returned his smile, a playful one now dancing on her lips. "Oh, don't worry, Yamauchi-kun. We'll see each other plenty; just being in the same class is enough for me."

"Yeah, see you around, Nino-chan," he replied, waving to her as he scanned the room, then moved to claim his seat, dropping his bag onto the desk with his usual laid-back confidence.

"Man, I have to hand it to you—you were damn impressive back there on the bus. Not every guy has the guts to stand up like that. And, hey, who's that Stacy you were with?" A blond-haired boy slapped YamaGod on the shoulder, greeting him with a grin full of admiration.

YamaGod shrugged casually.

"Eh, it's not that big of a deal. Anyone with some nerve could pull it off if they wanted to. As for that girl, let's just say she'd probably prefer I don't go spreading her name around. You know, a lot of girls these days like to keep their privacy intact," he replied, a small smirk on his face.

The boy nodded thoughtfully. "Makes sense. I mean, I don't know much about her, so I guess that's fair enough. No harm in keeping it low-key."

He paused, then added, "By the way, what's your name, man?"

"Haruki Yamauchi. But just call me Yamauchi," YamaGod introduced himself, extending his hand.

"Hirata Yosuke," the blond replied, shaking Yamauchi's hand with a firm grip.

They shared a smile before heading back to their seats, satisfied with the casual, respectful exchange.

As they sat down, a gorgeous girl with striking blue hair and vibrant orange eyes caught YamaGod's attention.

She had a petite but well-proportioned body and stood at an average height for a Japanese girl.

Beneath her left eye was a small beauty mark, adding a unique touch to her already stunning looks.

"Well, well, look who's got the charm to reel in the pretty girls," she teased, eyeing him with an amused smirk. Her voice had a playful lilt to it, one that seemed used to making guys trip over themselves.

YamaGod grinned.

"If you mean Hirata Yosuke, I don't think he'd appreciate being called a 'pretty girl,'" he joked, earning a laugh from the girl.

"Name's Haruka Hasebe. Nice to meet you, cool guy," she replied, flashing him a confident smile.

"Pleasure's all mine, beautiful," he said, catching on quickly to the more informal vibe she was throwing out.

"Actually, I'd rather you stick to just 'Haruka.' I know it's traditional here to be a bit formal with names unless we're close, but, to be honest, I prefer if people use my first name. Makes things more friendly, don't you think?"

YamaGod understood immediately—Haruka was clearly the kind of girl who valued a bit of cool factor over stiff formality. He could see why she'd want to skip the surname; after all, the name "Hasebe" didn't exactly scream sophistication, and for a stylish teenage girl, that was an easy call.

"I get where you're coming from, Haruka. I'm Haruki Yamauchi, though, and 'Yamauchi' works just fine for me." He extended his hand for a friendly shake, and unlike Nino who hesitated, Haruka grasped it firmly.

She released his hand just as quickly, not letting him linger or take any liberties, leaving YamaGod slightly disappointed as he let out a small, playful pout.

"What, am I that unattractive that a girl can't hold my hand for a bit longer?"

Haruka chuckled, flashing him a playful grin.

"Oh, please, cool guy. How could someone who took down that blonde jerk on his own be unattractive? I mean, if it were me, I don't think I'd have had the guts to face him head-on." Her teasing tone softened the air between us, breaking any tension with ease.

"He was the heir to the Conglomerate Group, after all. But hey, you still came out of it unscathed, along with that girl with the beige hair. That's impressive."

"I'm honestly nowhere near as brave as either of you," she admitted bitterly.

Her praise wasn't born of flattery or deception; she meant it.

She wasn't the type to stir up conflict or to challenge someone like Koenji for a simple seat, not out of empathy, but because she didn't see herself as courageous.

Yet somehow, he and Kushida seemed so effortlessly bold, managing to make Koenji actually back down.

"No need to be so hard on yourself, girl. You're pretty cool yourself," YamaGod said sagely. "I can't imagine what kind of guy would be lucky enough to end up with you in the future."

Haruka Hasebe managed a small smile at YamaGod's compliment, feeling a joy settle within her.

What woman doesn't enjoy being complimented by a cool guy?

"Maybe you'll be that lucky guy, Yamauchi-kun?" she teased with a smirk, her tone flirtatious.

Her joke earned a chuckle from Yamauchi, who eagerly went along with the playful flow. "Well, who knows? Time will tell, won't it?"

She chuckled, her eyes sparkling as they continued to flirt and joke with one another, the playful tension between them growing.

Life was, indeed, exceptionally good if you were YamaGod.
