Chapter 10: Nobita Visits Karakura Town

Back to the present, after 2 years of training and returning to Hueco Mundo to meet Harribel, Nobita thought about going to the human world. The problem was... as he knew, Shinigami could detect anyone crossing between worlds, except for Aizen who couldn't be detected. He wanted to go to the human world quietly too...

Standing alone in the wasteland, Nobita wondered what to do... He spent several months developing his own version of Descorrer that wouldn't let anyone detect his movements...

Finally, he created his own Garganta tunnel, opening like a circular wormhole. When he walked through, he could instantly reach the human world without passing through dimensional space...

At last, he visited the human world... Nobita saw familiar buildings from his childhood, even though he only viewed them through hospital windows... He knew this human world wasn't his original one... but it still made him feel homesick...

As an Arrancar, Nobita had trained to almost completely suppress his spiritual pressure, making Shinigami and those who could see spirits perceive him as just a regular soul... He casually walked around town, learning that this was Karakura Town. Of course he'd never heard of it before - how could he, being bedridden his whole life...

He walked around carelessly without minding if anyone saw him, forgetting he always carried his sword. Those who could see spirits didn't have much problem, but there was one group that would definitely have issues seeing him, though they hadn't revealed themselves yet, just watching. Nobita knew this but didn't care as long as they didn't start trouble...

Nobita explored the town for about a week, a short time compared to his 70+ years running in Hueco Mundo. Until one rainy evening, he walked around and saw a mother and daughter. Nobita was interested because both had some spiritual pressure, though low, but he sensed a Hollow's presence from the daughter, who seemed less than 10 years old...

He also sensed another Hollow's spiritual pressure appearing by the river, disguised as someone about to drown. The daughter ran to help, and though her mother seemed to recognize it was a Hollow and tried to stop her, she wasn't in time...

If left alone, someone would surely die. Nobita used Sonido to kill that Hollow immediately as it transformed, greatly shocking the mother and daughter...

 "Are you two okay?" Nobita turned to ask the two.

 "Um... yes... we're safe. Thank you for saving my daughter," the mother bowed in gratitude.

 "It's nothing, I just happened to be walking by and could help in time," Nobita smiled in response.

 "Thank you very much... But... that sword... Are you a Shinigami? But that outfit..."

She looked at his casual yellow shirt and black shorts that looked extremely outdated and ordinary, yet he carried a Zanpakuto...

 "No... not like that..."

 "Masaki!!! Karin!!!" A man's voice called out. He was wearing a Shinigami uniform. It was Kurosaki Isshin.

 "Darling..."

 "Dad!!" Karin ran to hug her father.

 "You're safe... Sorry I'm late..." He hugged his daughter and wife...

 "We're fine now, thanks to this man..." The Shinigami looked at Nobita...

 "Whoever you are, thank you so much..."

 "It's no problem..." Nobita scratched his head.

 "But... that Zanpakuto, yet you don't seem to be a Shinigami..." The Shinigami's eyes looked suspicious..

 "Well... I'm not trying to hide anything," Nobita shrugged. "I'm an Arrancar," Nobita answered honestly.

Indeed, that Shinigami and Masaki should be more cautious, but for some reason they don't seem to view Nobita as an enemy...

 "Big brother... thank you for helping us..." Karin approached Nobita. He smiled and gently patted her head.

 "It's a hero's duty to help those in trouble... Hey..." Nobita looked at the parents. "Why does this child have a Hollow's presence?"

The two were shocked that Nobita knew about this.

 "How did you..."

 "I told you, I'm an Arrancar. I can always sense Hollow powers... You seem to have some too, Masaki-san..."

 "You... you're not one of Aizen's people, are you?" the Shinigami asked.

 "Aizen... Is that guy involved?" Nobita's expression changed immediately. "Let me be clear, I'm not with Aizen. That guy tried to recruit me as an Espada, and I refused..."

 "Dear..." Masaki spoke. "I think we can trust him... and he might be able to help us..."

 "Then we should call Kisuke too."

 "That won't be necessary..." A voice suddenly appeared.

Nobita saw two Shinigami appear. The first was a blonde man wearing clothes that looked like an ordinary merchant. The other was a dark-skinned woman dressed like a ninja...

"Kisuke, Yoruichi," Isshin said. "Your timing is perfect..."

"Well... there's something interesting here... I hear you're an Arrancar, sir..."

"Yeah... I'm Nobi Nobita. I've only been an Arrancar for a few years."

"Oh... You're Japanese... I'm Urahara Kisuke... and this is Shihoin Yoruichi... May I ask what you're doing in Karakura Town?"

"Just visiting the world where I once lived, that's all... And... if you know someone named Aizen, I just don't want to be around someone like that."

"Hmm... Interesting... Any other reasons?" Kisuke probed further.

"Oh... there's one more... I'm looking for friends."

"Friends?" Yoruichi wondered.

"Yeah, I want to make friends... If there are people who can see spirits and talk to me, I thought I'd try to befriend them," Nobita smiled widely, leaving Kisuke's group at a loss... But the first to adapt was Karin, who didn't understand what everyone was talking about, but when she heard Nobita was looking for friends, she extended her hand...

"Then let's be friends, Big Brother Nobita..."

Nobita smiled as wide as possible. He finally made a friend, and an interesting one at that...

 "Dear... if it's like this..." 

 "Yeah... we can't hide it from Karin anymore... and Aizen might be targeting Karin too..."

 "You've decided, haven't you..." Kisuke said. "Well... we'll leave Karin's training for later... Mr. Nobi, I need your help with something."

 "Hm... what is it?" Nobita asked.

 "There's a group of people I'd like you to meet. They're like you, just their situation might be a bit opposite to yours."

 "Okay..." Nobita thought it shouldn't be a problem... "See you later, Karin."

 "Yeah!!"

Nobita walked with Kisuke and Yoruichi.

 "Hey, Nobita... let me ask you... what's life like in Hueco Mundo?"

Nobita told them about running around for over 70 years until he found his family... and about Aizen too...

 "Is that so... but is it okay... telling us about your plans?" Kisuke wondered.

 "I can tell who to trust, but honestly, you look quite cunning."

 "Why thank you..."

 "But you..." Yoruichi wondered. "...seem to control your spiritual pressure really well. Even now, if we didn't see your Zanpakuto, we'd think you were just a regular soul."

 "It took a lot of training to do this... But... these people you mentioned who are similar to me, how so?"

 "To put it simply, besides creating Hollows with Shinigami powers, Aizen also experimented on turning Shinigami into Hollows."

 "Isn't that worse?" Nobita wondered, because when Hollows become Arrancars, they retain human consciousness, but Shinigami becoming Hollows would bring out the wild beast nature of Hollows...

 "Yes, but they've fully mastered their Hollow powers... But if people investigating Aizen knew about you, you might be an important asset."

 "I just came to make friends, but it would be good to know what Aizen is planning."

As they were walking, they stopped because a woman stood blocking their path. She wore a school uniform showing her midriff and glasses, but what was most striking was...

 "Um... is that woman reading an erotic manga?" Nobita pointed at her.

 "Oh, Lisa-chan, what are you doing here?" Kisuke greeted the woman named Lisa...

 "We were wondering why you brought an Arrancar to us..." She spoke while still reading her erotic manga.

 "He's not on Aizen's side, and he has spies watching him. This Nobi-kun could be a good ally, so I wanted to consult with you all."

 "Is that so... Hey you..." Lisa pointed at Nobita. "Interested?" She offered him an erotic manga.

 "Hmm..." Nobita took it and read it, casually stopping right there to read. Everyone had to wait for him to finish... "Is there a next volume?"

Lisa smiled.

 "Looks like we'll get along well..." Lisa said deadpan.

 "Yay, I got another friend!!"

And so Nobita made a new friend through reading erotic manga...
