Ninja War God: Reborn with SSS Rank Cheats

Chapter 54: Haruki's Rice Balls

Kira stared at the man's back for a few seconds before shifting his attention to Raichi, "Sensei, don't you think that bringing kids to a warring site is a bit too much?"

"What are you talking about? You're a kid too and you learnt the flying raijin at he age of seven. Also, Eiko won't be fighting. I just want her to see the effects of war. The number of people who get injured and what not.

This is important and she will never get a chance to experience this if not now. As her father, it's my job to teach her things."

"Then I guess I'll go back to my tent and continue my training." Kira said, wanting to head back to his own tent as Raichi's logic made him want to punch his face in.

"Sure sure, I'll also go back to my tent and spend some time with my family. It's been a while after all." he said, his face all smiles as he watched Kira leave.

His wife poked her daughter's cheek and asked, "Hey Eiko, you're always so loud but why did you go silent this time?"

Eiko glared at her mother before burying her head into her father's shoulder, "That big brother... is he strong, daddy?"

"Hahaha, yeah. He's really really strong. Promise me that you'll become stronger than him one day."

"Promise!"

Kira barely got 6 hours of free time when he got a signal from his bugs.

'So they finally came back.' he thought to himself as he ran out of his tent and screamed, "Enemy attack! Enemy attack! Alert the captain!"

Hearing his words, everyone hurriedly ran into their practised formations while the higher ups rushed towards Fugaku. What Kira didn't expect though, was to see Raichi running towards him instead of Fugaku.

"Kira, stay with my family and protect them. I know you're strong enough to fight half of the enemy's troops on your own, but I'd rather have someone as strong as you protect my wife and kid instead of someone else. It's a selfish request, but-"

"It's fine, I get it. Feel free and kill those bastards in my stead." Kira said, smiling as he gave Raichi a thumbs up before turning to look at Raichi's tent which wasn't far from where he stood.

Raichi's request was dumb and Kira felt like he wasn't really using his head, unlike three years ago when he was absolutely focused during missions.

'Well, not like it matters. He's changed after Taka's death... but I didn't expect him to lose his logical way of thinking... Oh well, who cares. It's better for me to chill as a body guard instead of going out there and fighting.'

Raichi gave him a grateful smile before turning around, "I'll go talk to Fugaku about this."

While Raichi ran, Kira leisurely walked towards Raichi's tent and announced his arrival before entering.

The mother and daughter duo seemed pretty relaxed even in this situation, but Kira could tell that this was due to the confidence they had in the man of their family.

"Sensei asked me to protect you guys."

"It's fine, Kira. I'm a Jonin and I can protect myself and my daughter. You don't have to worry about us." she said, while giving him a gentle smile, a smile that reminded him of his mother back on earth.

He silently stared at her for a few seconds before looking away, "A retired jonin. I'm sorry, but I'll have to listen to my sensei's commands whether you like it or not. Also, you don't have to worry about me."

Saying this, he brought his hands together and twenty shadow clones appeared outside the tent.

"While I keep an eye on our surrounding, my clones will be taking care of fighting the sand shinobi. You can just relax since I'm also a sensory ninja. If anyone tries to come towards us, I'll be able to easily intercept them." he said as shifted his attention back on the two of them.

Haruki sighed and nodded as she pointed at the ground in front of her, "Why don't you join us for lunch then? We can eat while we talk."

"Sure..." Kira replied and sat down in front of them as Haruki grabbed a bamboo basket filled with rice balls.

"Here, I brought these from home. Tell me how they taste." she said as she gave Kira one and then gave one to her daughter, who made a disgusted face before looking at her mom, pleading with her eyes, only to have the onigiri pushed into her hands.

Seeing this exchange, Kira got a little nervous as he had never tasted bad food in this life. Kakeru's cooking was one of the best and the restaurants he visited always served tasty food.

He looked down at his onigiri, '... they look good to me, but I shouldn't judge a book by it's cover. What if she put in chillies in the middle or maybe something really bitter or sour? Maybe there's too much salt?'

Multiple questions popped up in his head, but when he saw the child in front of him eating without a single question, he closed his eyes and took a bite.

At first, the only thing he tasted was only rice, but then, the small pickled plum's taste emerged. The combination was good and he liked it quiet a lot.

"It's nice." he commented before glancing at Eiko, "You don't like it?"

"No!" she said, lifting up the hand that she was holding onto the rice ball with, "Momma makes them everyday and I'm tired of it. Bleh, if daddy was home, he'd make me meat."

Saying this, she sulked, not taking another bite of her rice ball. Kira looked at Haruki and saw her giving him a wry smile, "Well, I'm really bad at cooking and the only thing I learned perfectly, is how to make rice balls."

"Oh... it's fine, they're tasty." he reassured her as he took another bite before looking at the sulking kid, "Do you really want meat?"

"Yeah..." she replied, not even looking up at him as she continued to stare at her rice ball.
