Chapter 20: The True Hero
Guy cried and ran away again, forgetting his bag of chestnuts.
Looking at Zhang Miao, who was sitting on the stool, as if nothing had happened, Kakashi's eyes twitched several times.
"You did it on purpose, didn't you?"
"Yes!" Zhang Miao nodded and handed him the chestnuts in his hand. "Do you want some? It's quite sweet. It's a waste if you don't eat them!"
Kakashi, "..."
"Those are Guy's chestnuts! After you angered him away, why are you still eating his chestnuts like this? Is that really okay?"
There were too many things he wanted to complain about, and he didn't know where to start. Moreover, looking at Zhang Miao, who sincerely handed him the chestnuts, Kakashi suddenly sighed.
"Sigh, let's go!"
"Okay!"
Now that Zhang Miao was used to being carried away by Kakashi, he did not feel any shame at all about being carried by a 13-year-old teenager.
As he hummed an unknown song, he took Guy's bag of chestnuts and started feeding on them.
"Crunch... Oh, these chestnuts are really good. Kakashi, you really don't want some?"
"No!" Hearing Zhang Miao's words, Kakashi revealed a smile on his face. "Ryunosuke, have your upper teeth grown out?"
"No, I'm using my lower teeth. My upper teeth will probably take three months to grow. Let's just use what's available first!"
"..."
Looking at Zhang Miao indifferently picking up another chestnut and throwing it inside his mouth, a trace of helplessness flashed across Kakashi's face.
No matter how he looked at it, this guy did not look like a baby at all. Were all Uzumakis such freaks?
Thinking of this, Kakashi immediately shook his head. After throwing out those irrelevant thoughts, he asked Zhang Miao in a serious tone, "Ryunosuke, do you hate Guy?"
The old Kakashi would not have asked such a question, but Obito's death back on their mission at the Kannabi Bridge once again changed Kakashi's view of life, making him value his comrades.
Although sometimes Guy really made him a little annoyed, his efforts and perseverance had indeed moved him to a certain extent. He was an important friend to him. Therefore, Kakashi did not want Zhang Miao to do this to Guy.
In Kakashi's view, Guy's image was indeed a little bad. Perhaps this was the reason why Zhang Miao hated him, but what Kakashi did not expect was that Zhang Miao did not seem to think so.
As soon as he heard him, Zhang Miao immediately shook his head.
"No, I don't hate Guy at all. On the contrary, I like him very much, and I firmly believe that he will definitely become a great ninja in the future!"
"Uh..." Zhang Miao's answer was obviously beyond Kakashi's expectations. He immediately stopped and looked at Zhang Miao in a daze. "Why do you say that?"
"Because he has a great father who was as powerful as your father, Might Duy!"
When Zhang Miao said this, Kakashi suddenly widened his eyes, and his eyes were full of disbelief.
In Kakashi's view, Zhang Miao was very respectful to his father, but he did not expect that Guy's father also had such a high position in Zhang Miao's heart.
Kakashi also had some impression of Guy's father. When his father, Sakumo, sent him to the Ninja Academy, he had seen Guy's father at the school gate.
Kakashi remembered that Guy's father was dressed like the current Guy. He was wearing a green tight suit and always had a sophisticated smile on his face. He seemed to be able to smile at anyone.
Can such a person be called a hero?
Seemingly seeing Kakashi's surprise, Zhang Miao slowly opened his mouth again.
"Duy is Guy's father. Although he was not good at ninjutsu or genjutsu, he had been focusing on improving his taijutsu for around twenty years. He was known as the eternal genin."
"At that time, Konoha's ninjas had always treated Duy as trash!"
Speaking of this, Zhang Miao's face suddenly flashed with a hint of sarcasm.
"But they didn't expect that this is such "trash" could unleash an amazing power in order to protect his son from the Seven Swordsmen of The Mist! He even could cut their size from seven to just three!"
"Sigh..." Hearing Zhang Miao's words, Kakashi sighed. "Guy's father is actually that strong?"
Kakashi knew about the Seven Swordsmen. It was said that each of their strength had reached the level of a Kage. In the face of a great group, Kakashi felt that even his own father, Sakumo, would find it difficult to survive against them, let alone kill four of them.
But Guy's father could actually do it. How did he do it?
Looking at Kakashi's face of disbelief, Zhang Miao laughed again.
"Incredible, right? But that is the truth! After that battle, the once-prominent Seven Swordsmen of The Mist were left with only three members: Juzo, Raiga, and Fuguki. The two of them later became traitors. The group was completely destroyed."
"So that's how it is!"
After listening to Zhang Miao's narration, Kakashi was a little moved and nodded.
"I didn't expect Guy's father to be such a great ninja."
"Yes!" As soon as Kakashi finished speaking, Zhang Miao also nodded. Then he looked up at the sky and said with some emotion, "But I still think it is more appropriate to call him a hero!"
"Hero?"
Hearing Zhang Miao mention the word "hero" again, Kakashi once again looked at him in surprise. His expression seemed to ask Zhang Miao whether his evaluation of Duy was too much.
Facing Kakashi's puzzled gaze, Zhang Miao nodded firmly again.
"Yes, a hero! In my opinion, a hero is not a person with a sword or a shield, nor a person who treats others. It is a person who can protect his loved ones and comrades with his life at a critical moment. That kind of person is the real hero!"
Speaking of this, Zhang Miao took a deep breath and pointed to the huge Hokage Rock in the distance.
"Just like the Fourth Hokage who died in the Kyubi's Attack incident."
Hearing Zhang Miao's words, Kakashi couldn't help but look at the Hokage rock while muttering to himself.
"Only those who can use their lives to protect their loved ones and comrades at a critical moment are true heroes..."
Looking at the stunned Kakashi, Zhang Miao smiled and nodded again.
"Yes, that kind of person is a real hero. For example, Kakashi, your father, and Guy's father. They are all Konoha's real heroes!"
Hearing Zhang Miao's praises for his father, Kakashi smiled underneath his mask. He gently pulled down his ninja forehead guard, covering his burning left eye, and then continued to walk forward with Zhang Miao on his back.
As he walked, he thought in his heart: "Ryunosuke, you keep saying that Guy's father and my father are real heroes, but in my opinion, your father, the man who protected the whole village from Kyubi's threat, is the real hero!"
With respect for his father and teacher, Kakashi slowly walked away with Zhang Miao on his back.
They did not know that after they left, a young man with thick eyebrows wearing a skintight green suit was leaning against the wall in the alley, biting his clothes and sobbing.
"Father... The people in the village did not forget you. You are a real hero... sob..."
