Chapter 119: Chapter 119: Keep Screaming and I’ll Throw You Out
At the last moment, Mo Chen yanked the dazed Papillon and dove to the side.
"Hiss—!"
The spot where Papillon had been standing moments ago was now a long, scorched trench cutting straight through the hillside.
The ground had been charred black under the intense heat.
Cold sweat trickled down Papillon's face.
If that had hit her, she'd be dead.
Before she could even steady her nerves, Mo Chen grabbed her arm again and pulled her toward the research base.
The monstrous research base, now called Land Eater, was a turtle-shaped Rapture created after the facility's takeover. Its body had completely fused with the base itself.
It was massive and its arsenal consisted of an array of weapons originally designed to defend against Raptures.
Taking down the base was theoretically simple—disable its four legs.
"Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom—!"
The artillery on Land Eater's back launched a barrage of explosives, raining destruction down upon them.
These bombs were no ordinary weapons—they were massive explosives with yields equivalent to 11 tons of TNT each.
Originally built to repel Raptures, they were now being used against humans.
"Rat-tat-tat—!"
The Nikkes had already begun firing.
As per the battle plan, part of the team engaged the approaching Raptures to keep them at bay, while the rest focused on intercepting the incoming bombs.
Even a single bomb landing among them could result in devastating casualties.
A dense hail of bullets formed a metallic net in the sky, detonating the bombs midair in dazzling bursts of fire and smoke.
Occasionally, some bombs slipped through and detonated in the distance, sending massive mushroom clouds into the air.
The shockwaves alone knocked several Nikkes off their feet, demonstrating the sheer force of the explosions.
Mo Chen charged forward with Papillon, his free hand morphing into a blade that sliced incoming bullets in half before cleaving a Rapture down the middle.
Using the dismembered corpse as a stepping stone, he surged forward, accelerating even more.
He was moving so fast he turned into a blur.
His speed had already exceeded the speed of sound thanks to the Blacklight Virus, but with the GANTZ suit boosting him further, even the Raptures' sensors couldn't keep up.
Their targeting systems barely locked on before Mo Chen was already slicing their cannons apart.
Papillon, however, was on the verge of a breakdown.
Her face had gone pale, and fear was etched into her expression.
Was this even human? How could a human be stronger than a Nikke?
She had to report this to the Ark!
Raptures in their path barely had time to react before Mo Chen cut through them. A thin red line would appear across their torsos before they exploded into flaming debris.
He weaved through the battlefield like a ghost, leaving a trail of destruction behind him.
Even the heavily armored Raptures couldn't withstand his strikes.
"Crack—!"
Their shields splintered under his blows, spiderweb cracks spreading outwards.
The punch didn't stop there—it smashed through the armor, reducing the Rapture into flaming chunks.
"Boom—!"
The explosion scattered debris in every direction.
Mo Chen burst out of the fire and shot toward the distant Land Eater like an arrow released from its bowstring.
The Rapture's firepower was overwhelming, especially with the dozens of cannons mounted on its back. If it were to unleash its full firepower, the area within a 10-kilometer radius would be reduced to scorched earth.
Finish this quickly!
At this moment, the Land Eater had already detected Mo Chen. Its massive body began to turn, and the enormous cannons on its back rose high.
"Boom! Boom! Boom!"
Huge bombs were launched into the air, raining down like a deadly barrage of artillery shells aimed directly at him.
There were dozens of them.
He flicked his arm, transforming it into tendrils that shot upward. Suddenly, the tendrils burst apart like a sea urchin, releasing countless sharp needles that struck the falling bombs.
"Boom! Boom! Boom!"
A series of violent explosions erupted in midair, like miniature nuclear blasts. The shockwaves radiated outward in destructive waves, temporarily halting Mo Chen's momentum.
But the bombs kept coming.
They rained down in waves, blanketing the 500-meter area around him.
"Rat-a-tat-tat—!"
Bullets tore through the air, striking several bombs mid-flight and causing them to detonate in bursts of flames and smoke.
It was Ludmila!
She gripped her machine gun tightly, eyes locked on the descending bombs as she continuously pulled the trigger, unleashing a stream of lead that filled the sky with glowing tracers.
On a nearby hillside, Alice also joined in.
"Bang! Bang!"
The low, heavy reports of her sniper rifle echoed through the battlefield.
The rounds she fired were devastating.
A Master-level Rapture, Penetrator, had locked onto Mo Chen and was preparing to fire its railgun. Before it could pull the trigger, Alice's bullet pierced straight through it.
In an instant, the Rapture exploded into flaming debris.
The other Nikkes provided covering fire, trying their best to intercept the rain of bombs.
But the Land Eater's bombardment was relentless. Its bombs were heavily armored, requiring multiple direct hits to be destroyed.
Watching the wave of explosives descend upon them like an unstoppable force of nature, Papillon's face turned as pale as a sheet.
We're doomed!
That was the only thought running through her mind.
"L-Let go of me!"
Papillon couldn't take it anymore and screamed in terror.
Mo Chen barked sharply, "Scream again, and I'll throw you out there to block the bombs!"
She immediately shut her mouth, too scared to make another sound.
The bombs were numerous and powerful, but for Mo Chen—whose body had been enhanced to near-superhuman levels—they weren't lethal. Papillon, however, would definitely die if one even came close.
He quickly opened the system store.
Auto Aim: Redeem!
"System purchase complete. Auto Aim loaded."
Papillon stared in disbelief as Mo Chen casually pulled a sniper rifle out of his inventory.
It was the same sniper rifle they had seized from Harran earlier.
"Click-click—!"
Bolt pulled.
Magazine loaded.
No aiming.
Mo Chen's movements were smooth and fluid, without the slightest hesitation, as he pulled the trigger.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Bullets shot out of the barrel, spiraling through the air toward the incoming bombs.
Papillon looked like she'd seen a ghost.
Even though she'd never used a sniper rifle herself, she knew how ridiculous this shooting style was.
It was completely amateur—no, worse than a beginner!
Who in their right mind fires a sniper rifle like a submachine gun?
Not to mention, he didn't even bother aiming! And firing multiple shots in succession would cause the accuracy to plummet!
They were doomed for sure.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Just as Papillon was about to resign herself to death, explosions erupted above her head.
The shockwaves rolled outward, slamming into her like a speeding truck, nearly knocking her unconscious.
But she didn't even care about the pain.
She forced herself to look up, her eyes widening in disbelief.
The supposedly wild, reckless shots had all hit their targets!
