NIKKE: The Apocalypse Arrives, But the System is 100 Years Late

Chapter 1: Chapter 1: What Exactly Was Rescued?

"Ding!"

"You have successfully saved a survivor's life and earned one point. The Apocalypse Survival System is now activated!"

"The Apocalypse Survival System is the host's guarantee of survival in the harsh apocalyptic environment and the only hope for saving all of humanity."

"Ultimate Objective: Liberate all of humanity."

"Please adjust your attitude and use it seriously."

"Attribute Panel, activated."

"Status Bar, activated."

"Main Quest, activated."

"???"

Mo Chen stared at the panel that appeared out of thin air, then looked at the unrecognizable remains and broken limbs under his feet, which had already decayed to mere bones. It was difficult to connect "saving" with the obviously decomposed corpse in front of him.

What exactly was saved? And adjusting his attitude? Is this system crazy?

Mo Chen moved his body and discovered multiple injuries. Now, he also understood his situation.

He had transmigrated.

And he had transmigrated into the mobile game he played!

Nikke: Goddess of Victory

Mo Chen had a decent impression of this game. Whether for its engaging visuals or gameplay, it was well done.

When bored, he'd use the game to pass the time. As he played more, Mo Chen found the game unexpectedly fun. It exceeded his expectations.

What annoyed Mo Chen was the story.

Apart from the higher-ups in the Ark, who had some brains, the rest of the ragtag human crowd were the scum of the earth.

That bunch of incompetents couldn't be called respected elders; at best, they were despised by people and dogs alike.

They were useless at everything, never satisfied with anything. They constantly belittled the Nikkes, suspected them of rebellion, and frequently burned their bridges after crossing them, forcing loyal and virtuous figures to become traitors.

Mo Chen had deep sympathy for the Nikkes. They handled all the dirty, exhausting, and life-threatening tasks. If they weren't dead yet, they were worked to death—true tools of labor.

Meanwhile, those parasites reaped the benefits, exploiting the Nikkes relentlessly.

If he were the Commander, he'd overthrow the Ark, liberate the Nikkes, and unite the world in harmony.

Who would've thought that what once was a fleeting idea would become a reality?

He had transmigrated!

As a transmigrator, Mo Chen's experiences were similar to those of ordinary people.

The difference was that some were hit by cars, some electrocuted, and others crushed by falling objects.

Mo Chen, who lived on the fourteenth floor, simply died in a fire because the fire hydrant was dry and couldn't be used for rescue.

Sadly, his current situation was quite miserable.

He assessed his current predicament.

He had just graduated from the academy this year, but due to offending someone, he wasn't granted a standard job placement and was instead sent to the battlefield as an "intern."

The mission was to search for a missing vanguard team on the surface.

The surface was infested with a large number of Raptures, extremely dangerous beings that even experienced Nikke units had to approach cautiously.

Sending a freshly graduated commander to complete such a mission was akin to digging up a grave for him—it was only a matter of time before death arrived.

It seemed the higher-ups considered him disposable.

He had heard of mass-produced Nikkes, but never of mass-produced commanders.

Sadly, misfortunes never come singly.

The transport aircraft carrying Mo Chen hadn't even made it halfway before it exploded and crashed.

The good news was that he wasn't dead yet.

The bad news was that he was on the brink of death.

The only thing he could rely on now was this apocalypse system. Only, this "golden finger" seemed a bit unreliable.

Just then, a buzzing noise came from a distance, rapidly approaching!

Mo Chen's heart skipped a beat as he raised his head and looked in the direction of the sound.

On the horizon, where light and shadow intertwined, the ruins of collapsed buildings stirred up massive clouds of dust. The broken skyscrapers lining the road appeared as if they had been struck by some colossal entity, crumbling apart and collapsing in an instant!

Amidst the billowing dust, countless red lights emerged.

Raptures!

Mo Chen recognized them immediately, his heart tensing up!

Raptures, as stated before, were the monsters from the mobile game Nikke: Goddess of Victory, mechanical constructs with an extreme "love" for humanity.

How extreme?

Extreme enough to tear you apart, limb by limb.

First day after transmigrating, and he'd already met his end?

Mo Chen mused and thought about what he knew about the plot.

"In the year XXX, mechanical constructs known as Raptures descended."

"Humanity endured an unprecedented catastrophe, with a 99% reduction in population."

"This disaster, akin to the Chicxulub event, would become the largest extinction since the Ice Age."

"During this period, your mission is to save as many humans as possible. Rescue more lives."

Yeah, goodbye, I can't even save myself.

Don't even mention it, seriously, don't.

Mo Chen's mouth twitched.

When even a drowning man can't save himself, how could he rescue others?

He almost wanted to curse.

"…*%&%&%&…¥&…%...beep…"

Just as Mo Chen was waiting for an "intimate interaction" with the Raptures, a backpack icon appeared before him, with the words "Beginner's Gift Pack" written underneath in orange.

With the Raptures closing in and any further delay meaning he'd become their gift pack, Mo Chen decisively opened the Beginner's Gift Pack.

"Ding—!"

A familiar voice from the Wudang Sect played.

"You have obtained a Nikke: Codename Rose."

A flash of white light, and a stunning figure appeared in front of him.

She had long, silvery-pink hair that cascaded like a waterfall, an exquisitely beautiful face, wine-red eyes, a thin red ribbon in her hair, and wore a black battle suit with red patterns that hugged her body, accentuating her perfect curves. Her slender hand rested lightly on the long blade at her waist, and her eyes were filled with cold indifference.

With lightning speed, she raised her hand and swung, moving in a blur as she lunged toward Mo Chen.

There was almost no time to react.

"Huh?"

Did he summon a traitor?

Mo Chen was dumbfounded.

Just as he thought he was going to be cut down by his own Nikke, a loud explosion came from behind him. He turned around quickly to see that the Rapture lunging at him had been sliced in half by an invisible sword aura.

Phew.

Mo Chen breathed a sigh of relief.

The shadow figure dashed past him and charged straight into the swarm of Raptures, followed by a rapid series of explosive sounds.

"Boom! Boom! Boom!"

The girl named Rose moved as if in an empty field, cutting through the Raptures as easily as slicing through melons and vegetables. She was so efficient and deadly that there wasn't even time for the Raptures to utter a final curse before they were sent to the afterlife.

A close-combat Nikke!

Mo Chen, who had just escaped death, watched the Nikke's rampage in awe. He remembered that most Nikkes used firearms.

Due to technical challenges and cost-effectiveness, the development of close-combat Nikkes was ultimately halted.

There were only a handful of close-combat Nikkes, and Mo Chen knew the names of those that still existed.

Wait.

Suddenly, Mo Chen remembered.

Rose—wasn't she Scarlet's sister?
