Chapter 33: 33
With the wannabe super criminals contained at one of Shield's prisons my part was done for now. With nothing better to do I decided to return to the lab. While playing hero might get me fame and me to meet various people it wasn't a long term idea. I'm not the world's police I couldn't care less about some no name dying in the street that is not who I am.
'System use the silver ticket'
[One silver ticket was used: Terraforming technology blueprints (Lost Planet)]
Now this has potential currently humanity lacks the ability to travel long distance in space excluding heroes. With issues like over population being a real concern along with diminishing resources. Humanity was slowly backing itself into a corner even in my original universes with little progress to avert disaster in the future. Now imagine if one of the nearby planets or moons became habitable.
Space travel was not a far away concept but due to comic logic it wasn't widespread. Even super advanced nations such as Atlantis and Wakanda were strictly isolationist at best. Although there were few outliers that pushed for more but lacked the ability. Even beings like Superman a champion of justice had the technology but refused to share fearing what could happen.
This Earth civilization is a type 0.75 to 0.8 civilization if we count the reclusive super civilizations coexisting here. My plan would forcibly expand the growth of human civilization growing it's capacity to a true type 1 civilization. While the majority of humanity would celebrate this feat I imagine that powerful groups and individuals wouldn't like me tampering with the status qou.
Arriving at the lab I see Thoris going over research from various scientific journals. As I approached I heard a snort of derision before closing one of the screens.
"Something not up to your standards?"
Dejah Thoris: That doesn't even begin to describe it but I doubt you are here to listen about my thoughts on the scientific community
"I came to see your progress but I see that you were doing research is it for a particular subject that you plan to pursue?"
Dejah Thoris: Not at the moment as we still need to decide who to partner with from our last project. I was just looking for inspiration for future development to give us a direction after the fact.
"How does terraforming sound to you"
Dejah Thoris: like a dream that I was trying to achieve before I left Barsoom... you have a way to make it possible don't you?
"True, but I am certain that we could make it better"
Dejah Thoris: Show it to me and I'll see what I can do
I promptly handed over the blueprints to Thoris as I had no background knowledge on terraforming technology. Without Thoris I would have been forced to sit on this technology until the system granted me the knowledge or I would need to seek outside help. This would have led to a lot of questions I couldn't answer which would force me to be placed under further scrutiny.
Dejah Thoris: This might take some time to fully understand as it approaches the problem of terraforming from a different angle than mine
"That is because it was meant to be used on a frozen world"
Dejah Thoris: That makes sense according to the design it would pull in frozen water along with some sort of energy before releasing the payload. The pillar would then act as a climate control module protecting the flora produced from the cold. One would need millions of these pillars to terraform a frozen waste land planet. Overall I would say that the design is very good considering it's purpose.
"Is it possible to modify this device to work barren worlds or moons?"
Dejah Thoris: I can't say for certain as I said I would need some time to properly study the blueprints but it is not out of the realm of possibility. If you could summon an expert or at least someone familiar with this technology it would help speed up the process. Nadin while helpful as an assistant isn't a scientist and Cortana is constantly fending off hackers. Although I am a brilliant mind we need more scientist or we might need to join hands with the local groups which might steal the idea or shutdown the project.
"I understand I'll look into our options and see which is most optimal for our development"
